Hi Everyone and Welcome to the Newbies!

well I came home from work, signed in and thought Crikey, millions of posts on this thread since last night (well, not millions exactly, now you know how I got into this mess, no good with numbers!)

I wrote out replies to every one of you and my stupid, stupid computer crashed again and deleted it all GRRRR I blame my creditors personally, Cap 1 gremlins out to get me... De De Der, creepy music...

True27, was it the CBT session itself or the getting there which left you shaken?
There are other options, CBT isn't the only therapy, have you tried counselling? Agree hovering is the way to go, small steps... you were up to driving to school and taking one step from the car.....then 2 etc..

Brill re the bathroom, Well done! I may be able to get out and about but I would be Doh?! at the bathroom so massively impressed...

Have a good weekend all x

Thanks Ted - good to be here!

Just had a chat with DH about self managing - he's the same as me, being frustrated with the waiting - and he thinks its a good idea as long as it doesn't stress me out. I think it would probably do me good to take control of something. I mean if we can live quite comfortably on £250 less than CCCS say we should, then thats quite a nice big figure to start chipping away at the debts. Gonna have to think about it some more I think, but it would be fantastic to have something in place for the beginning of March!

Have you been at work today nat? If so I can understand the boredom :rotfl:

TBH thats why I was surprised at what the CCCS said, we've been cutting down slowly over the last 6 months or so on all sorts of things but with groceries for example, I've got our spend down to £150 a month for 3 of us and 2 animals. CCCS say I should spend at least £240 on groceries plus an extra £21 a month for the animals!

When you started this thread I'd just had my first appointment with the CAB and they were going to "do their thang", but things seem to have stagnated hence thinking about self managing.

Ditto on the memory thing, I've been blaming it on age but apparently 28 isn't old enough to rely on that :rotfl:

  • Lady phoned, dead on the dot of 7. Bit anti-climatic. We just went through all the accounts, bills, wages, food needs, clothes, TV/Phone etc and said someone would contact me in about 5 days and advise what to do for the best in my circumstances. Luckily looked and there is a Co-op bank near me if I go that route. I see Visa mentioned in relation to them and as I have a Barclaycard deficit would that mean I could not use them as a new bank of choice?

It doesnt matter if they have Visa or Mastercard, its totally seperate to the bank itself.

No not at work, I wish, even worse... home with my 8mth old who has been on sleep strike. And its been raining all day so couldnt take him for a walk. There is only so many games of roly-poly one can play :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend, take care:)

  • hi Gibbs

The co-op gives you a visa debit card so that you can buy stuff and take money out of a hole in the wall. You can also transact on a co-op account with the post office, so its quite handy. I paid in a cheque at the po and it was in my account in 3 days, so ok. Just wait and see what they say. If you owe barclays money, they can offset from your current or savings account, so that is why you need an account with a bank where you don't owe any money.
