Great news Prof!! I hope this reasonableness (is that a word?) is spreading - especially for VicB, she seems to be taking the brunt of HSBC's wrath atm, poor love!
Aww thanks for thinking of me True, I'm refocussing my hatred of HSBC energy onto other things, I've booked a week off work in May and I'm going to completely blitz the house and put loads of stuff on eBay and find a local Car Boot sale :j
I just hope HSBC pass me over to their DCA (Metropolitan?) sooner rather than later.
My first CCCS payment comes out April 10th...is is weird that I'm excited!?
Also, just on F&F's, is there a recommended amount/percentage you should offer them? I'm thinking of doing this with Next as the debt is fairly small (£800) but have no idea how much is a reasonable offer for them to accept...any ideas?Paddle No 16

Thats just insane. Lets hope they pass it to a DCA soon, then you might have a chance of repaying! I really don't understand how they think that is acceptable, I mean they are just making MORE of a loss by charging you interest that you'll never be able to repay!! To think, we own Lloyds....
I'm going to send them a letter reminding them I'm with CCCS and that they're not helping things, off to look for template letters now. From what I've read on here Lloyds seem to be one of the worst for charges and refusing to stop interest.0 -

Great idea! Keep your eye on the ebay board for when the next free listing day is coming up - they usually have one a month from what I can gather, then you'll make even more dosh!
Not weird at all! It IS exciting :j!!
I think there is a thread floating around somewhere on the main board that says start low (around 25%) and then negotiate - might be worth a thread search. It seems to depend a lot on the stage you're at with each debt, whether they are with DCA's etc.Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -

Yeah I've read a lot about that too - one of my biggies is Black Horse who are part of Lloyds but so far (touch wood) they've been really good to deal with. I'm sure I saw a link to a template letter off the National Debtline website, might be worth a try.Paddle #8 DFW Nerd #12840 -
Don't know if any of you are with British Gas? If you have dual fuel you can get something called Energy Extra 50, basically for £3 a month you pay a max of £99 for all boiler, plumbing, drains, CH and electrical problems in your house, no call out charges, and can get a boiler service for £50. There is a thread on it somewhere. PPLBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.
Paddle No. 5.
Debt at DMP start (May 1st '10) £54.9k, as of 1st Oct '11 £33.2k. 40% cleared.
(3 F & Fs down, 5 to go!) :T0 -
Thanks True, will have a search, would be good to get some F&F's ready in a few months.
If they accept an F&F does that mean they take off any defaults against the a/c?
Just had another call from HSBC, and this time they left a message (human not machine)....feel a bit rubbish and I know I have a fight on my handsPaddle No 16

Just got an email back from Next saying they have had nothing from CCCS and want me to tell them how much they are getting EEEK:eek: I will reply later once I have composed myself!! Pro rata, they aren't getting much because they take such a high min payment to begin with.
I also spent 30.00 today on home ed stuff (monthly budget 52.00) and even though my Dad is giving me 20.00 tomorrow towards it, I still feel guilty:(Paddle no. 12

Unfortunately Vic defaults stay on for 6 years.
Re. F and Fs, I am looking into them myself and been thru a few threads on here. It would appear that if and when the debt has been sold onto a DCA then F and Fs become a realistic proposition, an initial offer of 30-40% has been touted, but there is no pattern to what they will accept, had read stories of 20% being accepted and 90% being refused.
MBNA are one of the few that will listen to offers before passing to a DCA and they have been known to accept low offers. PPLBM Jan 2010. DFD 2016.

Don't panic about Next, this is exactly what happened to me. When I spoke to them on the phone they said they hadn't received anything from CCCS and when I told them the amount they accepted straight away and then sent a letter confirming details which I had to sign and send back.
The total balance with them was £800, I was paying around £70 per month but the CCCS payments are £15, which is what they accept.
HTH. Do give them a call if you can xPaddle No 16

Thanks PP, annoying about defaults, I thought I read on a thread somewhere that they can change the status to 'settled' on your credit report, removing default??...maybe it was wishful thinking!Paddle No 16
