Sorry to deviate off topic, but is anyone watching Jeremy Kyle? I'm completely confused, but I'm sure David Platt off of Corrie is on there?

  • Hi folks,
Is there any diffrences between them? We were going with National Dept and getting referred to one of them for a DMP. They have said they have a back-log of applications so it will delay being referred.

Can we not just apply to payplan or cccs directly or is there something to gained by going through Nat Dept?

    Hiya Mythago,

If you go on CCCS website and run through their Debt Remedy (takes about 20 mins) if they recommend a DMP you can "push the button" and sign up with them immediately.

    Hi,

Just about to trawl through the thread when I notice tedsd that you are doing a self administered DMP. We have been considering this for several months. Things have come to a head this week and we are going to go ahead and begin on 1st April. I have already set up a seperate bank account with alll household bills and secured debt coming out. The rest is with the HSBC consists of CC, overdraft, loan. Plus a few other debts including Halifax CC, loan to parents and Personal Loan to friend.

Our situation is difficult as I am off work sick, still being paid and unlikely to return. My OH is self employed. We could just about manage on his wage to survive with a bit left over to offer to the debts. My question is

Do I include my wage as it is likely to stop in May.
Also we have only missed one payment on a credit card and have no defaults, do I need to wait for this before we begin??

Thanks for any help you can offer. J

Hi wasn't watching and not sure if it's still on but saw an article about Corrie's most dysfunctional family being on Jeremy Kyle...you're not losing the plot, don't worry!

    Thank god for that!!

    Hiya Julie!

It's me doing the self-admin (or working on it anyway!)

Personally, I would not include your salary seeing as the situation is changing imminently. It'll take the creditors a good month or so to formally accept anyway, judging by the responses others on here have received.

You don't have to wait for the defaults either, just send the letters explaining the financial difficulties and wait for the defaults to come, the sooner the better!

Keep posting, any questions/rant/good news - we love to hear it :D

Thanks for the advice, it would certainly cut-out the middleman!

Totally agree Prof, huge sigh of relief when I read PDDs post...

don't understand the Payplan and new debt part?

Basically I was too honest with Payplan, I told them that I had done a balance transfer to Egg in January and they said I couldnt start my DMP until I had made 3 payments on that balance.
If I hadn't have said anything then I could have started by now. Payplan's argument is that you are much more likely to get an acceptance of a DMP if you have made at least 3 payments to a debt.
However, the evidence on here seems to be the contrary to that??

    Hi True,

Thanks for the reply. Going to sit down with figures and paperwork tonight. I am assuming you used a standard letter to make the initial offers.

No doubt I will be back with more questions soon. Thanks
