Hi, thinking of starting a DMP am very nervous and scared although relieved to be finally sorting my debts out.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between payplan and cccs not sure which to go with are both services the same?

Also do the creditors agree to freeze the interest or what way does it work?

Just trying to build up the courage to go through with this!

  • No real difference between CCCS and Payplan, both are excellent and both have good websites that will explain all.
Creditors do not have to freeze interest but most do in the end. (alledgedly).
Once you have made the call you will feel better, be prepared for a weird time before the DMP starts, phone calls, etc. However, a lot of us on here are at this stage so use this forum/thread whenever you need to. Cheers. PP

Sorry to butt in True/Julie, I THINK if you are self employed with CCCS you can't use the debt remedy you have to phone them to go through your budget...what you can do though is put the figures in as if you are employed to give you an idea about repayments and to get your template letters.... not sure where I read it...

Ooo I didn't know that...handy to know though because Debt Remedy is a really useful tool.

Thanks ljk23k - i rang bcard and they were quite nice once i explained the situation even tho I was shaking like a leaf. he said he would put a note on my account and to get CCCS to contact them even tho they have cashed my token payment so must have my notification letter. lets just hope they dont ring work again as I was soo embarrassed especially when I was asked who was that on the phone. I havent heard from Halifax might bite the bullet and ring them whilst I being brave. Maybe tomorrow. Off to fat club in a bit to see how much weight I have lost this week NOT

Oh god Candy, what a nightmare! Black Horse used to ring me at work, I hated it! I think I actually rang them and told them I didn't work there anymore in the end!

:rotfl: at fat club!! Hope it went well :)

    Hiya Andy :hello:!

Echo Prof really, no difference between the two really - check out both of the websites and pick the one you like the sound of the most! The creditors may or may not stop the interest, if you read back through the thread it seems really random how they choose whether to stop or not!

Definitely go for it, the relief that you will feel is worth it!

They can't get through but if they use the automated thing, somehow they are able to leave a message on the 1571 service, but it doesn't ring. I decided to phone them and when I was told I would get no more calls I thought I would keep an eye on it to see if they really did stop. With truecall you can press a button to send all the calls made and received to the web account so you can view and thats how I know how many times they have called. Should I see if they call today and if so send them a letter?

    Morning, Happy Friday! :j

Just reading through your posts, Barclaycard have gone quiet on me (was getting calls from their automated service 6/7 times a day!) but nothing through the post from them or any others :(

On the work phone thing, if you use online statements, you can remove your work number. I NEVER give them my work number, most creditors just need a home landline, although I've managed to change some so they just call my mobile (which I then ignore ;) )

Hope you all have a good day x
