Hi everyone and welcome :j to the new faces
Just wanted to say that I know there is a DMP thread already running, and its a fantastic place to get help from those who've already started etc, I decided to set this one up simply so that I could chat to other starting off at the same time as me. Ok just felt it needed to be said.
Wow so much to catch up on.
True So so sorry to hear about your friend. Im 28 as well and that kinda brings everything home doesnt it. Take it easy.
VicB Im in rented as well and I can honestly say that was the one thing that was holding up my decision to do a DMP. They do credit check if you go through a rental agency but not sure that a private landlord would or not. We're on a long term tenancy so hopefully I wont have to worry about it.
Pure dead dopey As far as I can tell M&S are defaulting cos the payment we made didnt meet their 1%. Which is a bit strange cos I sent £10 and my balance is around £700 so 1% is £7  I guess they have added interest which would take it over the £10. Anyway I guess all creditors will default at some point as we arent making the min payments. And if thats right about defaulting being linked to freezing interest etc then wahooo!
ted hope you are feeling better, glad the phone blocking is working

I started my dmp with cccs on 1st december and creditors have just received 2nd payment. Feel in control and stress-free for first time in years. A year ago thought I was the only one in UK with huge debts spiralling out of control. Thanks to everyone on here for moral support.DeeBee0

Hi!
Ive finally got around to setting up my new bank account, I am now sending my info back to cccs so no looking back now!:eek::eek:
I have just booked a weekend break paid for with tesco vouchers! I know I shouldn't have but its my daughters birthday and weve never been on holiday!
Does anyone else still wonder if they have done the right thing?
As for renting - I own a property which we let privately, credit rating isn't an issue, weve never even asked for a reference (how bad is that) having said that we have never had a bad tenant.
I am thinking of starting a business to generate a bit of extra income whilst I'm at home with the kids but don't know what at the mo, obviously anything with a huge outlay is not an option, any suggestions welcome....

Still no pack, has anyone phoned to check what's happening? I presume they are really busy but I reckon 2 packs haven't appeared here. I am gettng acceptance letters but I don't know what amount they have accepted at since quite a lot of the banks haven't put this on their letters (always efficient eh?) Still feel better though, there might be a wee bit of light at the end of that big long tunnel.:TMore than Two Years in

Good Morning! The O2 cash manager card can be used everywhere you use a credit card and at ATMs, except the money is all yours (hurrah! :j) and you can keep track of your balance. I've used it a few times now and get a text within SECONDS of the transaction going through, updating you on new balance and recent transaction - brilliant! However with the O2 one, you do have to be an O2 customer already - my mobile contract is with them.
There are other 'cash manager' cards out there, and I'm sure if you search on here there'll be a piece on them.
Have a good day! :beer:Paddle No 16

Hi, me again, I've had a look on line and it looks like this is run by 02 and Natwest bank...does this mean though that if you load your card with cash (dream on!!) that Natwest could get their hands on it if they were a creditor??
Hi Ted, it doesn't cost anything no. NatWest isn't one of my creditors (in fact I'm awaiting confirmation on a new current a/c with them) so I'm not sure how this would effect your O2 card?...sorry I can't be of more help.
It does have VISA on it, so does look like a credit card and I think unless you knew you'd assume it was.
I'm sure there any similar cash manager cards, will do some diggingPaddle No 16

Hmmmmm its seems O2 is the best of it's kind as it doesn't charge for anything (but I guess it encourages you to stay with O2, which for me isn't a bad thing).
There are others, if you go onto Money Supermarket and look up 'pre-paid cards' (it won't let me post URL links for some reason?)
But you have to pay an application fee and/or ATM charges.
Hope this helps!Paddle No 16

Hi all
have decided to bite the bullet and start a DMP too. Provisionally rang creditors few weeks ago to go on a payment arrangement and all but one were sympathetic and seem willing to accept payment proposal. The one that is giving me problems is Welcome Finance a personal loan I got a couple of years ago. They have already hounded me to pay arrears on top of a normal monthly payment which I am struggling to find each month. They are now hounding me to set up an additional payment to discharge their so called "default fees". Have explained I am already at the maximum which I can afford but they say until I set up a second payment arrangement with them they will continue to phone me through the automated system (7 phone calls in one day)
This is really getting me down. Have looked at the forums in here and am seriously thinking of changing telephone and mobile numbers. They went through a stage ringing me at work but I told them I was not allowed personal calls and asked them to remove number so at least I do not have embarrassment there!
So now think the only option is to go through CCCS to set up a DMP and to change my telephone numbers. Really feel down at the minute but feel a little brighter after reading all of the posts in the forums here0 -
Thanks VicB, it looks really good, just need to check that none of my creditors are part of the Natwest group...:)
Best way to check which banks are linked is to look on Wikipedia, I've always found that very useful
I know NatWest is part of RBS....(not to be confused with Bank of Scotland!)Paddle No 16
