Virgin Cable Broadband speeds

Yes I was traffic managed....which was a whole new can of worms. It looks like you have accepted the fact that you were traffic managed all along then. But of course, you won't admit that :rotfl:
1. I do not live in the area's mentioned and implied as being VIRGIN traffic managemnet areas..........Misleading!
2. I object to Virgins misuse and misleading use of the words Totally and Never in their promotions and terms and conditions.
We already accept the word UNLIMITED as being subject to limits because of consumers like Robt and others who do not apply standards and reasonable expectations on adverts and promotions from retailers.
I'm blowed if I will roll over and die and accept a new Virgin Dictionary definition of TOTALLY AND NEVER.
I'm an MSE expert and I'm gonna stand up and fight!
(and whats:rotfl:got to do with anything here)0 -
VM's Broadband comes over the same system as the analog & digital tv,if you are off a unboosted E Cab or have low power/signal strength due to teh reasons I put up earlier, that will affect your internet speedsThe increase to 10Mb may have partially corrected this.
Head & brick wall, banging against spring to mind here..0 -

I'm not bothered about technical issues any more I'm bothered about Virgin medias advertising standards.
They opened a whole new can of worms by wriggling out of why my Virgin media broadband 2mb service was being throttled to 0.5mb
I mean a 2mb is slow enough anyway but to throttle it to 0.5mb is just crazy!
Head.... Hands and Throttling come to mind here!
This issue is not a specific one off consumer moan about standard of service this matter affects all Virgin broadband consumers and also new consumers looking to make an informed and fair choice in broadband provider.0 -
Spike - I'm doubting there is anything wrong with his line, the local network (hardware and traffic) or his modem, He has hit the 200mb fair usage limit and has got capped.
Sadly, VM use 'unlimited' and 'never' too easily when they clearly arn't but then slap a T&C marker after them all. The earlier linked traffic management page clearly shows the upper DL and UL limits. If you agreed to them when you signed with VM and hit them, then what did you expect would happen? Nothing? You did state that you read them when you signed up so you were aware of this before you started this thread I assume??
Vote with your feet and change ISP if you're not happy and don't want to pay extra. Believe me moaning about this issue will not get you any closer to fixing it. It's been in the press loads last year and still nothing has been done about the 'up XXmb' speeds and other tricks the ISPs use in their marketing. It sucks but it's just something you have to check when agreeing to any BB deals now - even on mobile data contracts.
If you really want to take it further, go to Ofcom, the ASA or an Ombudmen and see what they can do but I'm betting they will simply tell you the same. You agreed to the T&Cs.0 -

I have gone to the ASA and complianed about VIRGINs promotions and adverts, a copy of my complaint is posted earlier.
Also there is a blantatly misleading section about the trial areas which needs to be addressed, which I have also complained to the ASA about.
As you can see I am a serious MSE expert member and someone who does not mess about.... I have taken action.
My next complaint is to The Trading Standards with regard to misleading terms and conditions.
Certain posters on here seem to want me to shut up and stop moaning....well this is a consumers board not a retailer stooges excuse makers board.0 -
Are you also going to report all the other ISP's who offer 'unlimited', but also have an (eminently reasonable) FUP in their T&C's?
Bandwidth is not free or unlimited, and if you misuse it then ISP's have to take some action to protect the majority of their customers who abide by the T&C's.No free lunch, and no free laptop

It doesn't matter how many times you say it, it doesn't make it true. There is nothing misleading at all unless you have an IQ of about 10.0 -

Answer.........if I had reason to as a customer of those ISP's then yes.
And as a consumer I have a right not to be dupped and mislead about Unlimited claims and the use of the words TOTALLY AND NEVER.
Simple answer....ISP's and Virgin Media especially stop using misleading words and terms and conditions.
My Message is simple.
Virgin Media If you are good as you think you are ........Stop using the words "Totally" and "Never" (UNFORTUNATELY THE WORD "UNLIMITED" SEEMS A BATTLE ALREADY LOST)
And Virgin should state CLEARLY that VIRGIN media Broadband SPEED throttling occurs in ALL UK areas and on all packages.
Fair enough?0 -

:rotfl::rotfl:
It isn't on all packages. That just proves you haven't actually read the links given.0
