Vegeta, not sure what the top left led should show - it amazes me how Fujitsu haven't bothered to supply an instruction manual - there are a couple of pdfs on the CD but they are not much use.
You do realise that you probably should have charged your device for about 12 hours before using it if you want the best battery life.
Where are you using it? If it is in a car then be aware that some windscreens block satellite signals. If it is in a house then you need to be pretty close to a window. Some buildings are not good with GPS signals - my work location is very bad at allowing a GPS signal in - even with something as sensitive as a standalone SirfStar III. For its first fix I would definately recommend taking it outside, you should get something within about 15 minutes or so. GPS receivers can take a while to get a fix the first time you use them or if you travel a large distance before turning them on.
I will be setting up mine for the wife tomorrow (its her birthday present) and will see what I can find.0 -
Good news!
Its working fine now
I left it switched on near a window for about 10 minutes and came back and it found 10 satellites. Put it in the car and its tracking everything fine0 -
any probs then http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/ is a great resource.0

Excellent. Just tried mine (well the wifes). I'm impressed, the GPS receiver is actually more sensitive than my standalone sifrstar III bluetooth device and that was pretty sensitive. I'm 3 meters from the nearest window and it has locked onto EIGHT satellites and it got a fix practically straight away!
Would recommend that people install the program onto the SD card rather than the system memory. Otherwise you lose about half of your available memory.0 -
I hit the Grabbit jackpot yesterday. Nuvi 300 for £0 from Maplin. Sorry they only had one in stock. Well it was B grade clearance. Received this morning and looks brand new.0

Don't see why not. Copy all the files from the 256mb card onto your 1GB card and use that instead. That is what I'm doing.
Q. Is anyone having strange behaviour of the power on button? Holding the button for just over a second is meant to turn the background light off but still allow the playing of music etc. I'm finding sometimes it does work but mostly it doesn't. And, if I hold it down a little too long it does a soft reset - which isn't meant to happen really. I've tried some forums but all the ones I try seem to be having problems at the moment.0 -
do you prefer the tomtom software to the Navigon one ?
i haven't used tomtom really, but my impression is that the navigon software has got some nice features...
haven't found how to put speed camera dabatases on there yet...0 -
Tom Tom if far superior, 7 digit postcode search, adding speed cameras and your own POI's, also running a lot faster are just a few reasons0

Just tried this and it does the same
What i have done and this is good for using on the sat nav too when the screen gets too bright at night , is program one of the front buttons for "Display Lighting" then just press the button and dim the backlight that way0
