Ames - I know exactly what you mean with regard to dinner staff making you eat food you don't like. Thinks were definitely a lot harder on kids then. Nowadays, we can encourage them to eat their food, but can't force it on them.

I was outside, really cold tonight, so I did half and hour stepping up and down the steps up to the playground. The kids thought I was mad :rotfl:

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

Sammy, you're a genius! It looks like I'd downloaded napster thingy but it hadn't properly installed, which is why it wasn't working.

And nope. Still saying it can't connect to napster. I'm further along than I was though!

Okay so go to start programmes napster napster download manager.....

Top right hand corner is settings.....click on that and choose where you want your songs to be downloaded to - in your case windows media player...

Then click to on the !!!!! cat face and go to napster and log in using your user name and password

Blimey Sally, I didn't manage joined up writing till I was a secondary. Well, not that was legible anyway. Although some would say I still haven't mastered it...

I know but thats all they teach them from the start..obviously they don't have to join all the words up but get the shape of the joined up letter. She can write her name fully joined up but everything else is just letters

My goodness, they're asking a lot of them. We try to get the basics there (proper pen grip, start letters at the top etc) but they're not expected to join up their writing until year 2.

Im sure they have done pencil grip, she looks like she is holding it correctly

Awww she is only little bless her.....I found my girls didn't like to be 'forced' to do anything ...I am not for one minute suggesting you are forcing her, but I think letting them think its their idea works better...

Actually I find telling my girls they can't do something usually has the opposite effect on them...(contrary sods they are!)

Yep Im really trying not to force her, but equally I don't want to be the parent who goes in and says sorry she hasn't done this because she didn't want to. Just trying to find that happy medium

I was one of the poor kids on the block having free school dinners....we had to have a green ticket so the dinner ladies could point us out and make a show of us....

Then they used to force us to finish our dinners including puddings....

I would be the only one left EVERY dinnertime, gagging on semolina or spotted !!!!!!....

I can't eat puddings to this day....and its why I let my son eat jam sandwiches every day for a year....
