  • flutterby - i got the recipe from the oldstyle board lol.
    1 ounce butter
    1 chopped onion
    3 (or more) diced carrots
    4oz red lentils
    2 pints of stock

melt butter, add onion and carrots, cover and cook gently until onion is soft.
stir in rinsed lentils (no need to soak or cook first) and cook for further 2 minutes whilst stirring.
Add stock, simmer for 30 minutes then blend.
i tend to add a can of chopped tomatoes for extra flavour so reduce the stock to 1 and a half pints to compensate.

If its too thick you can add more stock.

    hope that helps :)

    Thank you! :T

If I survive my circuits class tonight I'll make it afterwards and have for dinner tomorrow night

  • Hiya I am back after a long posting break, so much has gone on recently my head is :money:(best way I can describe it).. Well me and the Childhood sweetheart are no longer together, after we decided we are better as friends than in a relationship.. We are both in new relationships I have been with James for 6 months on the 24th :D and he has been with Vix for about 3 months or so I can gather.

I have gone back to college but combining college with depression and a brain injury is entertaining.. But I am getting there. Embracing O/S really well especially as James's mums has been giving me lots of tips and hints and I have been cooking from scratch alot more and budgeting ( Sainsbury's Basics) and baking :) I have to make my limited means of Assessment ESA go a long way and it aint easy :( I am hoping they overturn the descision of the medical, seeing as she assessed me on something completely different to what I went in for.. but that is another story. but I am getting there and I am looking forward if it is overturned to the backpay as it is mounting up am at £300 at the moment am thinking pay off all my bills and save some for a holiday :)

O/S today, hung washing on airer, tidied lounge and dining room and Kitchen am cooking a ham joint and am doing roast pots and veggies as I got my big sister coming for tea, am on my own tonight James is going home and will be back tomorrow night so will spend tomorrow doing my college work and making sure I am all organised ready for college the next day.
Of all the things I have lost I miss my mind the most
£2,960 in debt to RBS paying off at £10 a Fortnight

LW :grouphug: Would it help to have a "counselling" type session with the person who lets you down & maybe your practice nurse or district nurse? Sometimes a bit of explaining in front of a professional can push people into changing their ways...
I don't really think so; I've had more "counselling" in my life than anyone should ever have to put up with, and it never helped any.

Sadly, the person is my beloved Mr LW. He's fantastic in everything else, so I have to just somehow get my head around the fact that I'm now too old fat and ugly:confused: I guess as long as he doesn't start looking elsewhere, I can't complain, especially as I lived perfectly ok without for many years before I met him.

LOL it's true what they say, you don't miss what you've never had; but to be introduced to something and then have it taken away.... well, that's another story.

    Thank you for caring, though.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

He says he's fine; he does have high BP, but his meds are keeping it under control, and he's pretty fit for a guy of 60 (he's even doing Wii Fit exercises!)
He's never had any physical problem (from my point of view - sorry if TMI) but it seems to be a case of CBA. He keeps saying we will tonight, then when tonight comes along, he's too engrossed with his PC game. That's what I meant about promises not being fulfilled.

Shez is it worth buying a new engine from ebay ?, When i scrapped mine everyone kept saying you should have bought a new engine for a couple of hundred quid

Yes I would have done, but put with the whole fitting costs etc - it didnt warrant paying out for the value of what my car is now - plus it has started rusting along the cills etc, so I doubt it would be passing anymore m.o.t's, so was advised to scrap it and just get another car. Shame really I shall miss it.

    Afternoon all,

Diva....sorry to hear about Tris, hopefully he will recover soon.

    LW...hugs to you both.

Csarina....one of the reasons I hate to lend books is the problem with getting them back, you don't hang about do you......move on 2nd Feb???

Thanks for recipe specsappeal, will make that to-morrow.

Aussie....provided you have cards, passport and flight details anything else can be replaced so don't stress yourself too much, this is a holiday after all.

Car in to-morrow for pre MOT service, needs at least one tyre, lots of little things like wipers and such so am expecting it to be quite a bill.

Bacon and cabbage for dinner to-day, with icecream and fruit for pudding, not feeling like doing anything more strenuous.

Glass collected for greenhouse, but OH scared of starting to-day as it is very windy and he could end up with new glass broken....doesn't feel like parting with another €100 I am sure.

Hugs to all in need or want

Totally agree with Redruby - you are not fat or ugly and all relationships ebb and flow. It may well be physical or he could be suffering from SAD. Men are so out of tune with how they feel physically and mentally so there may well be something going on.

I would take the pressure off for a bit. I know when I felt pressured it put me off even more. And now..........a distant memory:rolleyes: In fact how did I manage to have four children?
