I hope you're prepared for how awful a West Highland garden looks in mid winter Aussie. :o

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • morning all!
Hugs to those that need one.
Bit grey and dull here this morning. So far I have hoovered downstairs and given the bathroom a thorough going over. DD has a day off work today and has requested that i make carrot and lentil soup which she absolutely loves so i will get on with preparing that soon.
DH had some drama coming home from work last night. He uses a little 50cc moped to get to and from work and on the way home some young (mid 20's) guy in a 4x4 kept over taking him and then slamming his brakes on. DH thinks he was trying to impress his GF who was in the passenger seat laughing. Anyway DH caught up with them at the traffic lights, took his mobile out and took a photo of the licence plate, he also told the driver that he was being stupid and downright dangerous. The response to this was that the 4x4 driver waited til DH had pulled away and then deliberately drove at DH and tried to knock him over! Lots of other drivers beeped their horns but the 4x4 guy just drove away laughing. DH was quite shaken up and decided to go straight to the police station. The police phoned through to the CCTV operators and it was all caught on tape. The police went to the guys house and made him watch the CCTV (after he said he didn't know what they were talking about) and they said he immediately became apologetic. DH said he was satisfied that the guy had received a stern warning and although the guy had been a total idiot he didn't want him arrested (which the police were more than happy to do).
And I thought my life could be pretty dull lol.
Dinner tonight will be ham, egg and chips i think.
    Have a good day everyone!

    Morning everyone!

Really trying to get myself motivated today, got so much going on in my head, dont know where to start first- but I have managed to put DW and WM on though!;)

Loved watching Delia last nite, remember the 70's - my DD is doing all about furniture etc when their parents grew up. I was telling her about tv only having 3 channels - and she was so shocked that there was no Cbeebies channel!:rotfl: and was most shocked when she said we used to have to go to the toilet in a hole:rolleyes: That was in the middle ages I explained, I'm not that old!! We have a school class trip tomorrow to the Geffrye Museum which is all about different styles thru the ages (hoping it's not cancelled due to snow, if it arrives as forecast).

Got to phone round some scrap merchants today, see what offers I can get for my car, the big end has gone and not worth repairing and tax runs out end Jan, so it must be gone by then. Doubt I will get much for it.

Not sure what to do for tea yet, something light as DD goes Judo, so dont want anything heavy inside with all that throwing going on (IYKWIM)

    Enjoy your day all xx

specsappeal - do you have a recipe for your soup? I have lots of carrots in my fridge to use up, but I'm not a fan of carrot and coriander soup, so would like to try yours :o

Maybe you could knock on their doors & ask for the items back - you have a perfect "excuse" with your imminent house move ;) and it may just shame them into returning your possessions.

I wish I could, one used to post on MSE, the other on another forum, I lent her my working teaching notes for a beginning quilter and despite asking for and offering to collect said notes there has been no reply. They will both know I am moving because its in my blog as well as on various other boards I post on.

We went to the library to collect books for the next week or so. It looks like we will be off around 2nd Feb with a local mover....they have given us the cheapest quote so far.....for a 3 day move. One mover wanted £2000, forget that I am not a masochist.

So its all systems go from now on.......we have the chap who is going to move us coming to see just what has to go, and packing etc......number of boxes etc....I just hope he does not blench at the garden stuff thats going.
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.
  • flutterby - i got the recipe from the oldstyle board lol.
    1 ounce butter
    1 chopped onion
    3 (or more) diced carrots
    4oz red lentils
    2 pints of stock

melt butter, add onion and carrots, cover and cook gently until onion is soft.
stir in rinsed lentils (no need to soak or cook first) and cook for further 2 minutes whilst stirring.
Add stock, simmer for 30 minutes then blend.
i tend to add a can of chopped tomatoes for extra flavour so reduce the stock to 1 and a half pints to compensate.

If its too thick you can add more stock.

    hope that helps :)

What a mine of useful info this place is! Good morning all. My winter medication gives me trouble in that dept, so might give that a try!
Plaquenil, which I'm prescribed for lupus, does this to me; perhaps I'll give the charcoal a try.

*SIGH* I have to get my life on track somehow; can't keep spending every night lying awake - specially as I seem to be crying my eyes out at 3 in the morning every night as well now. How do you deal when someone keeps making promises, but then fails to keep them? Specially when it's something technically not vital, other then to my wellbeing and self-esteem?
    Arrgghh, enough. Onwards and upwards.

OS today will be making quiche for tonight's dins - it'll do tomorrow as well, which is a bonus. I also need to sort out the loo. Dunno what Mr LW's done to it (and don't want to think too hard about that) but it ain't functioning right.
We'll be sallying forth into battle in Mr T's when Mr LW gets in from w*rk, too (Oh joy!!:D)

((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today; special healing vibes for Tris.

LW :grouphug: Would it help to have a "counselling" type session with the person who lets you down & maybe your practice nurse or district nurse? Sometimes a bit of explaining in front of a professional can push people into changing their ways...
