Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 19th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning OS friends.hellowave.gif
SunnyGirl - Hope today goes as well as it can for you and your family. angel.gif
Halight - I am glad they have some ideas as to how to help you honey, you are so stoic with all you have to go through, I really admire you
Mummysaver - I am pleased that you have a good friend to help 'glue' you back together and that you had a nice day with her.
Jc - had to laugh at your sons 'bad eyelash' that stops him helping you, in our family it was always a 'bone in my leg' that was used as an excuse... giggle.gif
Jackie - I hope you have a lovely time with your friend and get lots of decluttering done
Dusty - what is a BAF?
Gemma - sounds like you need a hug honey - hugs.gif

Ok, I only got half way through yesterdays thread as I had some bad news from Tris' sister. Tris has been involved in a car crash on the icy roads. He and the driver are in hospital right now. They are stable but in a bad way. Looks like a mix of icy roads and wild deer could be the cause as there were no other vehicles involved. They are concerned about head injuries and of course his recent kidney transplant.
I know he will be fine.
Going to skip breakfast. Lunch will be cheese and salad sandwiches as I have a craving for salad at present. Dinner SHOULD be fish pie but not sure. Am going to defrost the ingredients anyway.
Have the district nurse calling in today and someone from the firm that supply my home help.
I hope today is the best it can be for everyone. With love, light and HShuggies.gif to all.

Good morning MSD and all who follow.

MSD - so sorry to hear about Tris's accident - as if he hasn't got enough to contend with already. I hope he recovers soon. Keep us posted.

(((Hugs))) to all those in need.

I've been MIA again. I just wish there were more hours in the day! DH should have started a job yesterday but when we worked out what we needed to do to get both our vehicles through their 'controle techniques' (the French equivalent to the MOT) he realised that I would not be able to do it all on my own. As it was, it took a lot of running about. If your car fails the MOT over here you can still drive it for two months whilst getting the failures sorted out. In DH's case, his van needed new tyres, French headlights, and a new wing mirror - all of which had to be ordered in. The last bits were done yesterday and it passed the re-MOT in the afternoon. My car had it's first MOT and failed (it also needs French headlights and two new rear tyres, but at least I can drive it. We're taking it back to the UK when we visit next month and will get the tyres replaced there (at half the cost!) but we need to source the headlights here. Anyway, at the moment, we have two legal cars but what a day it took to get to that state! I at least had a free gift with my MOT - one of those shopping bags that clip to the inside of a supermarket trolley which I know I will find useful!

I didn't have time to read yesterday's thread and will try and catch up later. I hope everyone is well. I was going to say that I hope all that snow has cleared up but I see that it's forcast to return briefly, so I hope it doesn't cause as many problems as last time. I know from my DSs that it has left the Hampshire area, but I am not too sure about further up country.

Well, after all the racing around yesterday, I am planning to spend the day at home today. I need to make some soup with the veggies that are lurking in the fridge, and I'm doing a beef casserole for dinner. I also need to do a bit of housew**k - it has been neglected lately due to lack of time but I can ignore the dust no longer. At least DH will be out at work so I can make the house look like someone cares about it!

Anyway, I hope you all have a good day.

Good Morning Msd & Moiliere and all who follow.Well I am awake early as my joints are very stiff It must mean rain is on the way.Once I have half an hour on here I should be o.k. an will get back to bed.Its just a case of getting all the kinks out of my shoulders & hips.My friend and I had a brilliant day and took four full black bags to the charity store of just clothes. She said even after that, I have about four times the amount of clothes that she has left.Today we are going to aatack the study ( a small bedroon that has all my papers, books computer, cameras magazines cd's, dvds. and about 15 years of assorted exam papers and essays in there.Plus 8 different family trees and piles of books ,photographs and assorted paraphanalia that like topsy has just 'growed'.If I don't get it sorted I am going to have to buy a bigger house to live in which is daft. She is brilliant at decluttering and already I can see the wall paper !!!.We went to my Uni class last night, and she was quite interested in it as it was about the Workhouse in the 19th century. In between times we sat and jawed and knitted and she crocheted. We both make blankets for the Linus Project which send them to children all over the world who have nothing but the clothes they stand up in.We have been doing this for around three years and enjoy helping kids worse off than our own grandchildren.
Well time I was going back to bed now my joints have relaxed a bit.I am looking forward to the meet in London this Saturday.
    Have a good day everyone
    JackieO xx

    Morning peeps

warmer here again today :j hope that the nasty weather forecast for tomorrow dosen`t appear. I`ve got used to being able to move about better since the snow went away.

Just realised that i forgot to take the sausages out of the freezer before i left the house this morning so i`ve no idea what will be for tea, the planned toad in the hole will now be another day and i`ll have a quick check of my meal planner to see what can be pinched from later in the week.

Nothing much else to report really so i`ll toddle off and do some w*rk.

Diva - Sorry to hear the bad news about Tris, hope that he recovers well

Mioliere - Whats the difference in headlights? I didn`t realise that they were any different to english ones :o

N9eav - It never ceases to amaze me the horrible things that people do to each other.

NIc Lou - Hope everything went well yesterday

    Have a good day peeps.

    Morning all,

Had a day on the mainland today. Got home around 2pm. We found some bargains in the hardware store. Drip feeder set up (water) for the garden. We won't install them properly until we return but they are perfect for the fruit trees & veggie garden. The larger one was normally $35 reduced to $5 ( we got 2) & the smaller one was $29 reduced to $3 (got 2). The black hosing was normal price. We never seem to find specials so this was a great find. :D

I'll sort out the toiletries tonight & make sure I've got it all under control. I hope I've done everything . I have this nagging feeling I haven't. :D I bought some chicken to cook tonight. I'll just garlic crumb it & have salad & chips with it.

N9eav How tragic. Hope you unwind on your days off.
JackieO That's good progress your making with the de-cluttering.
MSD Sorry to hear of Tris accident. He must have been improving if he was in the car. Hopefully it won't set him back again.
Halight That's great news that the pain isn't connected to the lump in your head. :o I'm so sorry, for the life of me I can't think of the name of it & I can't sit here any longer to think. :D

Hope you all have a great day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

N9eav - that is terrible, loads of respect to you & all policeman for doing your job.

Wet and misty here, shouldnt matter to me that much as will be in the office most of the day though am trying to get hold of my hairdresser & see if she can fit me in as hair is a mess.

Had a good day yesterday, ended up cleaning the kitchen windows and blinds in the dark but at least they are done.

Today not too much on the house side as have horrible filing job to get through. Am off out with my friends who I meet up with once every couple of months so am really looking forward to that :jits at a Harvester so shouldn't be too expensive. Will do macaroni cheese for the kids and OH will have something on toast.

Ironing pile is still under control :T

    Morning all,

Haribo, that picture of my new kitchen is not far wrong :rotfl::rotfl:

Misserable day here, wet and horrible, with more snow due tomorrow , Today I think i will tackle the conservatory, its not too bad out there, lots of cobwebs, and black finger marks, and it needs a good hoover, if I can get that done today, then its just the bedrooms to do next week.

Not sure what is for tea, I think there may be some sausages in the freezer, so might get them out.

Sunny, good luck to you and your family today xx

Diva, wow I'm amazed that Tris was well enough to be out and about in the car, I thought he would still be recovering in bed, hope he improves soon.

N9eav, what a sad story, enjoy your time off xx

Mummysaver, hope all is well with you, sorry not had time to catch up for a while xx

Ok better get on, need to put a wash on, and get the day going.

    Have fun all x

    Morning everyone.
I just can't seem to get warm first thing in the morning. Not only am I wearing my fleecy dressing gown I have also wrapped round a green fleece blanket. Don't I look fetching
Tried controlled crying with DD this morning (we've done it before at bedtime a few weeks ago with success). Unmitigated disaster  I'd tried cudding her for an hour with no success so decided it was time to give CC a go. Over an hour she cried, sobbed and screamed. It was ruddy awful and she kept calling mama mama :( In the end H got her and brought her into our bed where she feel asleep. Its where they are now still. DS got up at 6am despite having been up in the night - I really don't know how he keeps going half the time.
Tea tonight I think is going to be a pasta bake. Bit of cleaning and some washing is about the limit of my OS today as too tired to do much.

Diva - Sorry to hear about Tris' accident. Poor bloke never seems to catch a break xxx

Aussielass - I ALWAYS forget something when we go away :o I do endless lists and still miss things :rotfl:

N9eav - some days your job must be total pants. It beggars belief what people do to one another :(

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.
