SP are the worst. I was in my back garden last week doing some gardening and as my kid was playing out the front with his friends I had my garage door > utility door > backdoor all open. So you can see from the driveway right through to the back garden.

Mr Scottish Power Sales must have tried the doorbell and didn't get any answer as I couldn't hear from the back. He then decided to invite himself into my garage, through my utility room and INTO MY BACK GARDEN!!! !!!!!!! "Heeeellooooo. Have you got a minute? I notice you've just left Scottish Power."

"Get the FCUK out of my garden mate. There's a good reason I've left SP and this is it."

    :-|
  • If an energy salesman comes to my door I just tell them I'm on an internet tariff - they soon disappear! I must admit I am quite astonished at many of the antics of these lowlifes.

But when I left Scottish Power last year they called me (just days before the switchover) begging me to stay with them. I pointed out to the rather rude salesman that the papers I had received already indicated that it was too late to back out. At that point he admitted I was right but that he could bring me back to Scottish Power.

He asked what my direct debits would be for gas and electric so I told him. He then said that he could beat those monthly payments. I asked him how that could be possible seeing as the SP Tariff was higher than my new supplier. I pointed out to him (in my own condescending way) that I would run up debts on the direct debits amount he quoted but he did not want to listen.

In the end I realised he did want to see sense so I just terminated the call and promptly blocked the SP sales number on my trueCall unit.

i had a phone call today from Watchdog regarding my OP.

asking me que3stions about my report. i dont recall/remember reporting this to watchdog it was so long ago and i was vague because i didnt remember [now ive read this thread i remember what happened].

after some questions she hung up. no thank you.

could this have been 'watchdgog' or perhaps scottish power sniffing around? given watchdog are meant to be there for the consumer im rather confused its taken 9 months.

  • They were around where I live the other day, heard one of them talking to my Mum, telling her a load of lies, wouldn't use Scottish Power due to these tactics.
  • Scottish Power, E-on, EDF and British Gas have all sent doorstep salesmen to my mum's road, which is actually protected by law, since it is a council-run site specifically for the elderly. (The Antiques Roadshow, she calls it). Dorrstep sellers are prohibited from targetting the elderly or vulnerable for exactly the reasons listed in this thread.

Every time it happens, I call the company and explain that they should take the road off their 'patch'. The council have it listed as a protected street, but nothing ever happens. Luckily, my mother is a game old bird, and generally tells them politely to sling their hooks. On one occasion she escorted the man down to the end of the road and told him that if she saw him come back she would call the police and report him for loitering with intent to defraud vulnerable adults. He disappeared quite quickly.

You should be able to PM Colin as normal as his profile still has the PM function showing and he doesnt have the "Has MSE’s permission to post for company" under his username and his username is not coloured
Actually, when I see his posts, his username's coloured purple and has the "Has MSE's permission" tagline under it as well. Unless he's been granted the OK to still use PMs...

Back in the winter hubbie and I had been sledging on a Saturday afternoon and had come back and had a bath to get warm. As it was about 4pm, we thought why not snuggle up in our dressing gowns for the rest of the day.

There was a knock on the door, hubby answered, and there was a Scottish Power Wide Boy, clip board in hand. He did his usual pushy sales routine and hubby was doing his best to get rid of him. I went to the door and pointed at our 'No Sales' sticker that the council had given away free, which was on our front door and asked him if he had read it.

He looked me up and down and then looked at hubby and said 'Fu£k me, you've just been to bed haven't you?' and laughed at me. Well, I won't tell you what hubby said back but the SP guy didn't even blink, he just said 'I'll come back when you've finished then shall I mate' and walked down the path.

We both just stood there in shock. I called SP and yes, they blathered on about re-training.

If someone DARED try that with my Mrs at the door, no sooner as he blinked I would have sparked him out. No questions, no answers, no hesitation ;)
