Sorry to hear you're having a bad time Gorgeous. It's probably best that you brought someone external in, it "opens out" a pressurised situation.
The OH's mother sounds a bit of a troll. Shame you can't just click the little red triangle to get rid of her...

Hi elantan, I've just caught up with your diary and I'm so sorry to read of all the hassles you're having.
It sounds like the right decision to get someone outside the family to deal with your son - well done for that.
Worrying about your OH's blood pressure, really hope that goes down now he's not dealing directly with your son and too right, tell that unsympathetic MiL to back off.
The most important thing is for you and your OH to feel OK in yourselves without other people piling on the stress.
i'll be thinking of you tomorrow, hope the funeral goes as well as these things can. I'll miss you for a housework challenge too.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -

cheers seaxwyn and lenny to be honest i would rather be doing the house work challenge and not because of the funeral but because i felt i achieved so much last week and i actually enjoyed it ...i mean i enjoyed house work phew there is a first for everything lol...
lenny i havnt forgotten those recipes honest have mentioned it to hubby but he's been kinda busy ...will get him to do it over the weekend if i can ...hope everyone is ok
do you know its amazing but hubby and i have had issues now for a while (drinking etc long story dont really want to go into it ) but since the son moved out with the exception of one incident we have have never got on better we have this sparkle that has been missing and its only when things with son happen that we get stressed and the best thing is we both agree on the course of action he backs me fully and i him ...in a weird way it actually feels the best to be at one again and mutually supporting the love of my life ...ok im sad i know0 -
You're not sad, that's what everyone wants isn't it?
Sorry to hear you have been under more strain, and I hope you and your hubby both start to feel better soon. There does come a point when you have tried your best and you can do no more, and it sounds as though you have reached that point with your son now. I think what you have done (getting a neutral 3rd party involved) is very brave, and I really hope it helps.
These things have a habit of working themselves out in the end, some of the nicest adults I know describe childhoods full of all sorts of ups and downs, driving their parents mad etc.....but we all grow up eventually, and it's sometimes only then that we see how much pain we've caused to those that love us.
And er....then we have kids or our own and the cycle begins again....lol!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
