Lol cos if you spent 8 hours sleeping and the other 16 sitting you'd only burn 1544 cals a day, women are told to eat 2000-2200, which just isn't actually right for the more sedentary lifestyle many women have today :)

Only 8 hours sleeping....obviously been going wrong there for the last 49 years then:confused:

And no one ever, ever, ever told me I couldn't eat more than [STRIKE]3000[/STRIKE] 2000 cals a day.

    Is anyone believing me:confused::rotfl:

Ah don't worry, on the last challenge we discovered if you snap foods in half before you eat them all the calories fall out the middle! Genius!

In all seriousness I think 2 of us made our 'loose a stone in 3 months' target last time, and most people lost sometihng, so we should be able to do it again.

I was watching a channel called DMAX or something this morning (all this being signed off is turning my mind to an odd combination of mush and a mine of useless facts) and there was a show about a man weighing a ton, and his daughter was asked what she feeds her 4 month old baby, and she replied 'oh I make sure he gets all his vitamins, he gets a hamburger with ketchup for breakfast, and thats really good cos its got the pickle too, and some fries if he wants some, and a milkshake, then we'll have fried chicken and fries for lunch, and we always get takeout at dinner (cue shot of baby eatting more deep fried chips!)', I could not have been more shocked that she genuinely thought this was healthy, not just for her but for a baby. I didn't even know they were off milk at 4 motnhs, and here is this baby gumming away on a McDonalds cheeseburger!

OMG - that poor, poor baby. My DD did not put her children onto solids until they were six months old. Apparently the research she did when expecting her first child showed that there is evidence that the internal organs are too immature to cope with solids and children put on solids too early are prone to stomach/bowel problems such as IBS later in life. Her health visitor supported this view...and the children are all healthy children now....so who knows:confused:

I guess though that sitting and talking on the phone for an hour doesn't come to 134 calories? :o

That's awful about that baby - hasn't it been in the news about parents who have unwittingly killed their child by putting it on solids too soon and giving it too much salt?

Well even with all this talk, I'm still hungry! :D

You couldn't make that up! Poor child!

The worst thing about diets is that they force you to think about food ALL the time! I actually think it's much harder than giving up smoking (and I say this as an ex-smoker) because you just can't just cut food out altogether.

But basically all diets are the same - less food, more exercise - so how is everyone planning to do it?

Dinah, you're a pretty strong advocate for Food Focus as you did super well on the last challenge - sticking to it?

Tete, are you a running convert? :D The burning lungs must mean you're doing something right... right?

I think I'm going to stick to trusty old Weight Watchers - I've got all the stuff already, so I'm going to go tonight and weigh in to get an official starting point and synchronise my scales and take it from there.

    Welcome Birdie, Lara and Wendz!

ETA: I think I just lost my post to PA, but the gist of it was 'easy on the chocolate!' :D Are you just going to cut down your calories, or do you have an exercise of choice?

Yep, sticking to FF. If I dont write down what I eat I realistically don't keep an accurate tally of what I've eaten, this means I can balance things. Got to the 1stone mark last time. Have put 1.2lbs back on since then, which isn't that bad all things considered, but I've also got MUCH more accurate scales now so it could be that I just guessed last time!

  • I did it with Food Focus too, really helps just to know how many calories something has in it. Need to up my exercise though, and get out walking more on a weekend :( Ugh, I hate dieting! It's so rubbish! Totally not back in the swing yet!
