But you aren't famous (I presume) and anyone who saw you confronted doesn't know you.

Of course you should receive a proper written apology.

How much have they given you already?

As you have said the best thing to do is to ensure that they haven't affected your credit rating and then just move banks.

It's annoying but you really won't be retiring on any compensation.;)

I dont understand hartcjhart =/ there is a big difference between being branded a fraud in my local town to showing the media how disgraceful the bank has been with its actions. Obviously only a small part of the situation has been acknowledged on here. But I don't see your point, i'm afraid! I'm sure the best tv presenter would be embarrassed about wrongly being branded a fraud?

depends how taking it to the media would be done

if its consumer section of a well read paper i see your point, the type where someone upper middle class scandelises it a bit and the bank are full of apology and do whatever it takes to make the bad press go away
