OS Daily Thread 18th January

Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Monday 18th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Hi all just thought i would say hello....... I was at pink wingeds house for dinner. She made me the most fantastic roast dinner and i am stiill recovering from the yummy food. Roast lamb, potatoes and gravy (happy) and I am more than content. Add in the pavalova and i am like a child atnchristmas. Mr Pink was going to take me home but decided he couldn't cope with me in the car all by himself so they asked me to stay over.
Pink said to say hello to you all.
I am knitting the most fabulous scarf and will post pics tomorrow. Hope everyone has a fantastic day xxxxx:p
I have had tomato soup for starters..... lamb dinner roasties veg and gravy and pavlova for deserts. To say I am a happy bunny is to say the least.....
No bisto to be seen, I looked in the cupoard under the sink and there was no BISTO...
oh and I'm a happy bunny....... I even got posh cheese and stuff....

Morning OS friends.
Kolajac - You can post whenever you like hon!
Zippychick - morning honey!! Awww it sounds like you have had a great time with the lovely Pink
Nic1 - Hope it all goes well for you today if you do go in hon.
SunnyGirl - Hugs and love
Taplady - how is Janet?
Dizzybuff - hang on in there honey. I know how it feels to feel like you are on the edge of a precipice, about to fall into that big black hole, but you can get through it one step at a time, and it sounds like your family are a great support.
Jc - Your kitchen looks lovely
celyn - Sorry to hear things have not been going well for your sister and family.
Penpin - I had to laugh over the glitter story!
Redruby - so sorry your new house was so dirty, I would be embarrassed if I was moving to leave my house anything less than clean.
Bitsy - I am here in p.m, if you need me and I do know how debilitating sleep deprivation is.. Bigfor you hon.
Hester - I wear an apron but I missed the pervy pm too!
Beemuzed - Happy belated birthday
Noahs - You are an amazing lady you know with all you have to deal with.Had a quiet Sunday with my OH. Caught up on some work that needed doing. Haven't been up long and am tired though.I did enjoy watching the Wartime Kitchen and garden again. She was making Brawn from half a pigs head.. It was remarkably easy! She just boiled the head for 3 hrs, stripped the skin, took the meat and fat off and chopped finely and put in a bowl to set with a little of the cooking liquor.. I couldn't believe how simple it was. Now if I can only persuade my OH to do it...Today will be an easy dinner day which will be the last of the HM sausage rolls, with mash or fried potatoes and baked beans. Lunch will be pasta and sauce I think - instant ones (I know, I know) as I bought half a dozen for 50p from Approved foods as part of a big order a few weeks ago.I hope today is the best it can be for everyone and that the week starts well. With love, light andto all.

Morning all
I'm glad you had a lovely time Zippy with Mr & Mrs Pink. They are both really nice & I agree she is a wonderful cook. She can drink like a fish too. It's been boiling here today. Benny got trimmed & I've done the bulk of the packing now. I thought we were allowed 23kg but I double checked and it was 20kg. Sigh.
Off to the mainland tomorrow morning to buy a few things DS2 asked us to buy & to do a few last minute things like chook food, dog food etc as we are bringing our car over here to store it instead of leaving it in the parking lot on the mainland. Probably have no tyres etc by the time we get back if we don't.
Bingo tonight.Haven't thought of tea yet but I suppose I better as time is ticking on. Off to have shower as I'm drenched. TMI.
Enjoy your day. Byeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Morning from down this way. Colder again, so enjoyed watching the American football in front of the fire last night. Had to Skyplus the game so OH could watch candleford...
Got a nice cheque from insurance company on Saturday as they paid out for the delayed luggage. That will be a good start to the holiday fund this year...
Work this morning, no plans for supper yet....
CheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning everyone.
DS2 (age 9M) has a cold. I think I had 2 hours unbroken sleep on the sofa last night & then some bits of sleep. He just wanted me. He is very happy now though, little monkey!
Have my Flying to do today. Hope to ge ton the Wii fit.
Had a nice windfall from my job after I handed in my notice as can't got back after my Mat leave as childcare too expensive. So I shall be sorting that our into diff bank accounts.
I have slimming world this morning.
Dinner for my DH & DD is a HM ready meal of chilli. Must get that out in a mo. DS1 will have some HM but frozen corned been hash & beans. DS2 will have some veggies (doing BLW with him). I will make a veggie chilli. Yes, we do eat different things, but I do cook from scratch. DS1 is so fussy. No idea why, but I've given up fighting with him, it's not worth the hassle. And I'm a pescatarian!
Right, off to start my day.
Have a good day all

My DH likes the American Football. He supports Miami Dolphins. He goes to the game that they put on in England once a season as well.

Morning all
Off to work soon, no sign of the promised flooding yet.
Hugs to PP.
Not sure how I'm going to cope today as my hearing is worse again, I keep telling people to write stuff down because of the background noise, but many don't bother.
Have a good everyone.
hugs Hester

Morning peeps
much warmer here this morning, i didn`t even have to scrape the car.
I thought it seemed a bit dark outside though and when i actually went out to the car there were no streetlights on, hard to believe the enormous difference that it makes. I shall get in touch with the local council later to let them know.
Usual bits and bobs done this morning and i have some lovely tomato soup for lunch later, i was going to leave some for DH before i left for w*rk but decided that half the portion would probably not be enough for him so i`ve brought it all into w*rk with me and i shall have the second half tomorrow.
NicLou - Good luck at the hospital today.
Hester - I would go to the doctors and nag them about your hearing until they actually do something, i can`t believe that you are still having problems after all this time.
Catch you all later, have good days.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -

Good Morning Everyone - thanks for all the birthday wishes! Even tho' I spent much of the day alone for once it felt as if I had loads of friends around! :j
DH arrived home late afternoon and we ate out at the Chinese in the evening.
Bought 3kg of Seville oranges yesterday so the house will smell of marmalade this week! DS had bought a bagful of scotch bonnet peppers for DH who will turn them into a very lethal hot pepper sauce either today or tomorrow. I'm pretty OK with peppers but can't cope with more than the tiniest spot of this stuff! However I will sneak a couple away to make a large batch of pepperpot soup with spinach and peas.
I did sleep well on Saturday night and read article in GH yesterday about how separate beds (rooms in the article) made for much better sleep! Don't think we'll be going down that road tho'! Wouldn't want to double the sheets to wash!:D
(HUGS) for all finding life a bit difficult just now. Hope you all have a good day today. Take care.Resolution:

Cooked a lovely boneless pork shoulder joint yesterday for dinner. we shall be haveing pork left overs today in the form of stir fry this evening.
It was a large joint and cost us £10.00 so it will be lasting us a few days.
The twins are doing well all colds have cleaned up totally and have not shown any sing of returning aginwhaich is good as thay sepent most of december with a cold. As soon as one started to go thay would come back down with it again.
Im off to see the docotors at the pain clinic today. I go to the pain clicinc at selly oak hospital in birmingham. the apaiontment is for 9:00am so im hopeing as its an early one that i wont have to wait around for too long.
I hope taht thay dont mess with my tablets too much as the last time thay did thay gave me some new pills that made me feel even worse.
i WILL admit thay i do need someing a bit extra to what iv got now to deal with the pain. Im thinking that thay will just up the dose of what i take now. I take twi diffrent tablets for it and thay both work in diffrent ways andfor the maost part im pain free but over the last few months i have been getting a lot of break thourth pain.
