autumnflower wrote: »Hello everyone, I am new to slimming world :-)
I started it up on Sunday but i'm not going to be going to classes, so I thought i'd chat here for some moral support :-) i'm using books that I got off a friend, but I am slightly stuck on syn values and such.
I was wondering, what do people snack on at night that isn't bread? because it's my absolute downfall, I've had 5 extra slices of warburtons wholemeal 400g loaf today alone, with an extra 2 as my HEB!!! Could someone please enlighten me on the syn value of the bread please? 2 slices of 400g loaf averages about 6 syns, seeded bread is more. 1 slice from a normal size loaf (800g) is 6 syns each.
I snack on Sw chips in the evening. I usually make them into spicy wedges and make a dip of fat free fromage frais with 1 syn of sweet chilli sauce. This always fill me up.
or I save most of my syns and night time is treat time, so I have a kit kat (51/2) syns with a cuppa, maybe even another yoghurt if im still peckish.
Also, I was planning on having risotto for tea tomorrow, and it mentions that pasta rice and grains are free foods on green, but it doesn't list risotto, so I was wondering weather that was a syn or not. Yes rissotto rice is free. It has to be dried rice though, al of these Uncle bens microwave in 2 mins type packs all have syns.
anyways, here are two days worth of meals, some comments/improvements would be appreciated
EE Day
B - 2 slices of kingsmill 50/50 toast (10 syns)
L - Apple
D - Chicken stir fry with rice, and rice noodles, stir fry veg and soy sauce
Snacks - 10 pickled onions (free)
3 Sunflower seed ryvita's (Syns? not sure how many)
2 slices of warburtons wholemeal toast - HEB
7 lots of it's not butter light (7 syns)
Pretty bad start, but I did do an hour workout on my dancemat, which said I had burnt off 300 calories.
EE Day
B/L woke up at 2pm
2 Warburton slices - HEB with 2 sainsburys BGTY bacon medallions + tomato sauce (1 syn i think?)
D - boiled potatoes with salad and 2 slices of ham + bread slice.
(about 3 lots of light butter) + 3syns.
Snacks - 2 apples, 5 slices of bread (12 for 400g loaf, 24 for 800g loaf), 2 with butter (2syns), and went out tonight and had a 330ml bottle of strongbow. (6 syns)
So, i've been doing okay exept for the bread, so wondered what I could change instead. I also realise i've not been using my HEA, but I'm not a huge cheese fan, and being a student, i never get milk because I use it once in the 3 day window of it going off! Also just to add, I only have a sainsburys near me to shop inand a bit of a budget going on.
love to hear back from you all :j:j

Hi autumflower, ive went over your post with red as it was easier to answer all your questions.
All I can suggest is be organised. Always have a store of potatoes and beans, spaghetti hoops etc, these are good for free snacks.
Try and fill up on free fruit and veg with dinner. Have boiled eggs with your salads to fill you up more.
You should never be hungry on Sw as there are so many free foods you can have.
On a budget I would recommend bulk cooking soups, quorn bolognaise (free on EE and green) , simple pastas with tomato sauce adding as much free veg and meat as you want or a tin of tuna.
If you arent having a Hea then I would recommend eating plenty of yoghurts for calcium. Do you like dairylea or laughing cow? You can have quite a few of the light ones as a hea so you could have then on toast instead of butter.
hope some of that helps a bit, dont be afraid to ask more questions, we'd rather help than see you struggling:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Hi,
I joined SW last year and was doing really well, but for some reason stopped. Anyway, this time I am determined to stick with it and I am hoping this thread will help.
Judderman, I have emailed you for a copy of your spreadsheet, hope that is OK.
Thanks,
Jess
Hi,and welcome back.

Autumnflower,I would cut out all the excess bread and just have it as your healthy extra if you can't do without it at all.I have always been a bread head so I know how you feel but you will feel better for having less of it.
When doing EE,sw recommend that your plate be 1/3 superfree fruit and veg at every meal.Superfree is all non starchy vegetables and all fresh/frozen fruits.
Re the milk thing,I frequently have milk in my fridge wayyyy past 3 days,it's always fine.Maybe you could just buy a pint and freeze half of it?Or UHT milk is another option. You could use your allowance for cereal heb (instead of bread!),cocoa at night (1/2 per tsp of cocoa) or in a white sauce for pasta dishes....
Try to get to Sainsbury's later in the day and you should be able to pick up reduced fruit and veg, meat, etc. This is what I do as I don't drive so have to shop pretty much every day,and only have a tesco express, sainsbury's express,co-op and waitrose close enough to walk to.I've got a collapsable shopping trolley thing but I am old and don't care!:T:jHalf a stone off, only another 2 to go!:j:T:D;)Cats are truly evil, like women....;):D:p

Morning.....yesterday turned out like this:
B: 2 x weetabix plus skim milk (heb + 1/2 hea - rest in tea)
L: ham salad with some pasta (mahooosive salad)was yum!! SW chips, mushy peas, sweetcorn and cod fillets breaded with WW bread crumbed - looking at the above posts about bread I realise I probably was over my syns for the day - I used 4 slices between 4 fish fillets (I had one fillet) as I had a couple of glasses of wine (going to have to stop this!!)
S: froot and yogs!
E: 1 hour 15 mins yoga - flipping hard it was too!
Today will be:
B: 1 small gammon steak frylighted with a frylighted egg
L: not sure - have to run out and tax the carthe sweet chilli chicken in the mag and probably a sweet potato made into wedges
S: as above!
No exercise today as I'm too busy running the kids to music classes.
Had a sneaky peek on the scales this morning - no change :sad:0 -

Hi Guys, hope you don't mind me joining in?
I'm starting at a SW class tomorrow night, never done it before as always did WW in the past, but that class is too far away now.
I'm going on holiday mid July and getting married in October, so I NEED to lose this weight, and hopefully keep it off and rethink my whole attitude to food!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
weigh in tonight, tepanyaki was fab, so fab that it went down with half a bottle of wine! been good since though, no syns yesterday and none so far today, don't plan on any. Not got to boxing yesterday but was at a concert so that's exercise (standing area only) hoping for a loss, any loss at all would be great this week.0
