Okay how many syns in 10 Thorntons chocolates? A friend turned up with a leftover Xmas box and I scoffed about this many before coming to my senses and binning the rest. The ones I binned were the ones I don't like but I would still have eaten them if they didn't go in the bin
Feel better for getting it off my chest....tomorrow must be normal!!0 -

They average about 3 syns each so you are looking at 30 syns:) It could have been a lot worse if you hadn't binned them!

Ok so that's prob a 40ish syn day then - 4 syns on leftover pesto with pasta for dinner, the 30 for the chocolates and 5 for the slimfast choc bar I had earlier plus 2 for my toast and butter this morning.
Going swimming in the morning so will def try to claw some of it back!
Thanks retiredlady, don't feel so bad now!0 -
Hello there..i'm hoping to join in and with a bit of luck get some much needed support..either that or a good ol' kick up the bum!!:)
I joined a SW class the start of JAN this year (did it about 6 years ago and did well ~lost about 19lbs that time) anyway..1st week great 2.5 lbs off them had a maintain, then last week another 2 lbs...then this week...OMG 1.5 lbs ON!
I have just cried my eyes out for the past two hours...the only reason i can think of is i had my Mums homemade cheese flan on thursday (about 2/3 of it:o) and now it has appeared in the form of fat!
BF is no use in comforting he just said well its no wonder the amount of food you pile on your plate...(he's talking of a free chicken dinner with loads of veggies) Im so gutted its unreal...everyone else in class is losing and still drinking or overdoing syns etc...and here's me the greatest putter on in class
im all set for a life of no eating. i have been doing extra easy but maybe i need to go back to red/green days? has anyone else had similar probs?0 -

Well two things occur to me. Although I have never done EE but seem to be the only one around this lateone is that your period is due, or you're dehydrated for some reason, or constipated, or one of any number of weird things that happen with bodies. You'll know yourself if this is likely.
The other is that your portions are really huge. Huge portions of veg and fruit are probably neither here nor there but huge portions of pasta and meat etc might cause a problem. Again though you'll probably know if this is you
Others might offer different advice thoughI usually figure if you've done the right things sometimes it takes a little while for it to show but the truth will out.
In the meantime try to hang on in there and don't let it get you down. You will def have weeks where you lose more than you expect too and it will all even out in the end)

Belfast Girl~ Thanks for replying x yes my period is due next week..although i don't want to just blame it on that! and as for my portions..i have been eating the same size meals since i started and the majority of the plate is veggies and limited meat /spuds or pasta.
The week i maintained ,i was eating noodles thinking they were free and when i looked them up they were actually 7.5..so at least that explained that week...and yet i still maintained..this week with such a major put on...i am so down-hearted.
I go with a friend of mine who has been out drinking and eating cakes and cereals and god knows what other junk and still manages a (albeit small) loss, but a loss all the same. I eat fruit whenever im hungry and have really been good with my syns (apart from the flan day) My BF says i would have had to eaten 3lbs worth of flan to put on 1 lb?? oh well i'm just gonna have to cut down on everything.0 -
Hello everyone, I am new to slimming world :-)
I started it up on Sunday but i'm not going to be going to classes, so I thought i'd chat here for some moral support :-) i'm using books that I got off a friend, but I am slightly stuck on syn values and such.
I was wondering, what do people snack on at night that isn't bread? because it's my absolute downfall, I've had 5 extra slices of warburtons wholemeal 400g loaf today alone, with an extra 2 as my HEB!!! Could someone please enlighten me on the syn value of the bread please?
Also, I was planning on having risotto for tea tomorrow, and it mentions that pasta rice and grains are free foods on green, but it doesn't list risotto, so I was wondering weather that was a syn or not.
anyways, here are two days worth of meals, some comments/improvements would be appreciated
EE Day
B - 2 slices of kingsmill 50/50 toast (10 syns)
L - Apple
D - Chicken stir fry with rice, and rice noodles, stir fry veg and soy sauce
Snacks - 10 pickled onions (free)
3 Sunflower seed ryvita's (Syns? not sure how many)
2 slices of warburtons wholemeal toast - HEB
7 lots of it's not butter light (7 syns)
Pretty bad start, but I did do an hour workout on my dancemat, which said I had burnt off 300 calories.
EE Day
B/L woke up at 2pm
2 Warburton slices - HEB with 2 sainsburys BGTY bacon medallions + tomato sauce (1 syn i think?)
D - boiled potatoes with salad and 2 slices of ham + bread slice.
(about 3 lots of light butter) + 3syns.
Snacks - 2 apples, 5 slices of bread (syns??), 2 with butter (2syns), and went out tonight and had a 330ml bottle of strongbow. (+???)
So, i've been doing okay exept for the bread, so wondered what I could change instead. I also realise i've not been using my HEA, but I'm not a huge cheese fan, and being a student, i never get milk because I use it once in the 3 day window of it going off! Also just to add, I only have a sainsburys near me to shop inand a bit of a budget going on.
love to hear back from you all :j:j

Hi All
Didn't manage to class last night as working. Emailed consultant to let her know I couldn't make it last night, but she never got back to me.
Anyway.....It hasn't been a very good week. I have been slipping in to my old ways. Back on track yesterday so fingers crossed.
**Consultant31 I really liked your story, and it is true. I would feel a lot better if I lost some weight.
I'm not managing to get on here as much as I want as the support is brilliant (better than in class). It's a fight to see who can grab the seat first .
I'll try to get back on next couple of days.
Good Luck to all getting weighed.
Lola:hello: Never say Never :smileyhea0 -
Hello Autmn Flower
lots of other folk with more SW experience than me will surely help you but I have to say that bread is pretty 'synful' and eating 7 slices a day doesn't really fit into the plan very well.
Risotto will be free if you cook it without fat and alcohol (or meat if you are doing a green day) - there is a very nice risotto recipe on this thread not so far back.
I'd really recommend you eat far more fruit and vegetables. they are all free on the extra easy plans and most are free on red and green days too, they fill you up and are really good for your health. Even if you just steam a few green veggies to go with your bacon and replace the bread with a jacket potato you'd save syns and get more nutrients.
Good luck - it's a bit confusing at first but you'll get there.autumnflower wrote: »Hello everyone, I am new to slimming world :-)

Hi Ellie, you shouldnt have to cut your potion sizes down if its free food, you can eat as much as you want if its free. Thats the best thing about SW, you should never be hungry.
Yes pasta can sometimes make you feel bloated, but if you drink enough water and eat enough fruit, veg and fibre then it shouldnt be a problem.
Theres maybe something else you are having and dont realise it. Its very easily done.
A lot of people like to post there daily food diaries on here, it helps people stick to a bit a bit more, its good to see it all written down, and we can spot something that might not be free but you think it is.
Your body can take some time to get used to healthy eating. Make sure you are drinking loads of water, your body holds on to water then less you drink (another reason for a gain).
When you get into the swing of SW and eat loads of superfree foods then your metabolism speeds up, so starving yourself will only make your body hold onto what fat/calories are going in rather than burning them up.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0
