Came across this again recently and hoped it might help some people:-

Susan is a typical dieter. She is 36 years old, married with three children and weighs 180 pounds.
She’s been dieting on and off for ten years but never loses weight. Why not? Because she keeps making one big mistake.
Susan thinks that dieting means depriving herself.
So when she’s dieting she does nothing but think of all the lovely things she’s missing. Things like donuts, cakes, chocolate and biscuits. Every time she goes into a shop she gazes at them and thinks to herself:
No! I mustn’t have any of those nice things because I’m on a diet. I must suffer.
So she suffers. And gradually her suffering drives her insane. After three weeks of dieting she is ready to cut her throat. She can take it no longer. So she gives up in disgust and goes on a huge binge. Result? She regains all the weight she’s lost and more besides.
Poor old Susan. She’ll go on dieting for the rest of her life but it won’t make the slightest difference. In fact, she could diet for a thousand years and still not lose weight. As long as she believes that dieting means deprivation, she’ll get nowhere.
    Are you a Susan?
Do you think that dieting means depriving yourself? If so, here’s some advice.
Stop kidding yourself and be honest for a change!

For example, ask yourself this question: what exactly are you depriving yourself of?
A fat bottom? A pair of fat thighs? Constant tiredness? Indigestion? Heartburn?
    Is this what you miss?
Or are you worried that you’ll miss out on the chance to develop a gall-bladder problem or diabetes?

You see, we forget about these things, don’t we? We are so busy worrying about giving up sweets and biscuits, that we forget about giving up the tiredness and the discomfort and all the other nasty things we put up with when we’re fat.
That’s why we find dieting difficult. We think it means giving up nice things. We think it means suffering. But this is nonsense.
The truth is, dieting means freedom. Freedom from embarrassment, freedom from tiredness and freedom from discomfort. A sensible diet is a passport to a new life.
So, if you are on a diet, don’t see it as something negative. See it as your private escape route to a new slim world. Because that’s what it is.
For example, just sit down for a moment and imagine yourself 30 pounds lighter than you are now. How do you think you’d feel?
    Would you feel pain?
    Would you feel deprived?

Of course not! You’d feel fantastic!
So girls, it’s time to change! Stop worrying about giving up things and start looking forward to bouncing out of bed in the morning and then bouncing all through the day. Because this is exactly what will happen when you get slim.

Meanwhile, spare a thought for poor old Susan! You see, she won’t change. She’s too stubborn. She still thinks that dieting means depriving herself. She still spends her time worrying about giving up things. She never thinks about the good things she can look forward to. So as usual she’ll stop dieting in a few weeks time and not long afterwards she’ll be even heavier than she is today

I let my mind wander and it never came back!

What is this I am reading about a big ginger Mii on the Wii? I have a Wii Fit but have never seen this and I want one now:(
  • good evening all - I've just rejoined a real live Slimming World group in my town, teacher/leader seems nice and isn't too thin and scary ... my question is, I am preparing my version of carbonara sauce with pasta for work tomorrow. I am perfectly happy to call it carbonara without any creamy stuff in it, but I do have a pot of Weight Watchers Reduced Fat Thick Cream in the fridge and if it wasn't too many points I would happily put a spoonful in. I've looked online, no mention. Does anyone know from classes how many points per spoonful or ml please?

(PS no way would I put FF yoghurt, quark or anything else in ... I'd rather just have a spoonful of olive oil with the pasta, bacon, mushroom and egg)
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

Hi , I have done Slimming World in the past , and am having a go again myself (a bit too skint to go to class at the moment ). When I reading back through this brilliant thread I discovered the recipe for Marions breakfast rice , but did I also read one for Muller yoghurts with porridge oats in that you leave to soak overnight (or did I imagine that ?)

No you didn't imagine it! It is something I do if I need to grab something in the morning to take with me. The night before I mix 28 g of porridge oats into a muller light and add some berries to match the flavour of yogurt (or any other chopped fruit I guess) Leave it in the fridge in a plastic container and just take it with you in the morning. The yogurt and fruit soaks into the porridge so it goes all soft and mushy and fruity and tastes a lot nicer than you would think!

We will have to call this Marions porridge but I really don't know if I made that one up or not - it is just something I have done for years!

Hahahaha, this made me giggle!! :rotfl:I was saying that my big ginger OH was doing the step aerobics with the Miis and really getting into it! BUT you can create your own Mii and use them on Wii Fit if you like - we made ones that were meant to be each of us, along with a load of other random characters, and it's spooky how much OH's looks like him!

    Hi,

I joined SW last year and was doing really well, but for some reason stopped. Anyway, this time I am determined to stick with it and I am hoping this thread will help.

Judderman, I have emailed you for a copy of your spreadsheet, hope that is OK.

    Thanks,

    Jess
