    Red day for me today:

B: Slice of ham and choc cherry ML (2 syns) - odd combination I know but didn't feel like porridge like I'd planned!
L: Tuna w/ EL mayo (1 syn), ham, 3 multigrain Ryvita (HEB), grapes
T: Ham and mushroom quiche, broccoli, either BNS chips and cheese in quiche as HEB, or SW chips as HEB and leave cheese out
S: Banana, mini Twix (5 syns), sugar (2 syns)

Re: low fat cheese - the Lidl half fat mature is pretty good - doesn't seem as dry as others I've had, and lots of flavour. Only £1 as well :)

Btw, can anyone tell me how many syns the lemon cheesecake MLs are? Tesco was a bit limited with what was left last night, and can't find these ones in the book.

    Hi all,

I was thinking this morning about exercise (just thinking about it mind! :p) and was wondering if anyone here does lots, and if it speeds up your weight loss or just makes you eat more. I keep reading about people in the SW magazines who have lost 8 or 10st in a year and I wonder if they do masses of exercise to sustain a high loss rate? I did used to go to the gym a lot, and lost around 3lb a week pretty much every week, but wasn't eating much at the time so suspect that was the main cause!

I was just pondering it as I really need to go back to the gym, but am torn between my work one, where I can go early morning before work and do cardio/weights but has rubbish classes, or one further away where I could probs only use the gym at weekends and some evenings but would have more and better classes. Hmm, what to do...?

Actually went on the Wii Fit last night - have only used it once before, to try the new toy when we first got it last year. In fact it told me when I got on it that 'your last workout was 287 days ago' :o I thought last time it was quite dull but only tried the yoga (phone rang half way through and was talking so long it switched itself off and I never went back on!!) - last night tried hula hooping and skiing, it was great fun! Inspired to do it regularly as my balance is awful and the physio has recommended it for my weak knee. Will get some dance games too, looking forward to trying some :)
only excercise i do is walking and i cant do that very well .. i could go swimming but feel a bit like a whale getting in the water
don't have a wii fit would like one but not sure if it would end up being a novelty

Blodwen thanks for the good advice. Your right it is a good feeling when you lose and he is still eating junk. I think thats what inspired him to lose in the first place. He saw me losing almost 3 stone in 3 months, eating loads of lovely things. When he started SW he also lost almost 3 stone (with no effort at all I might add) But its all piled back on for both of us and he does it half heartedly. but I would feel great If I could lose a couple of stone and he joined in too.

btw lemon cheesecake ML are 1 syn each, and worth it .

Peachy - thanks for the lovely (even if they are a wee bit dodgy lol) hugs and words of support.

SC - class is at 6pm tonight. Im still going but ill let you know after if I stay and how I get on.

can i save my syns - i am on the EE plan, if i don't eat all my syns allowed, can i save them up till weekend? or do i need to eat them everyday?

Strictly speaking, you shouldn't save your syns because it can lead to feelings of deprivation, but if you can cope without many each day you could save some of them for the weekend.

I always recommend never having less than 5 a day, which would give you quite a few for the weekend. Do remember though, that drinking alcohol will lower your resistance to junk food, so that after having your saved (and counted) syns for a night out, it can be very difficult to pass the chippy on your way home without succumbing to something synful :rotfl:

I am sure you will lose it again - i know i have done that (counting calories) lost the weight, then something winds me up or upsets me and everything goes out of the window - not just that day, but for months.
this is the first time i have ever done SW though, it has taken a good week to get used to not count the calories in everything, but it is good, i actually feel more relaxed, knowing that i can eat something, if i's hungry - without having to count the cals.

You can save them up but it's not really recommended by SW anymore - they think it leads to the starve/binge thing so they promote flexi syns these days which just boosts your syn allowance for the one day you need them and you have your regular amount of syns every other day i.e. you don't cut down.

My consultant has a poster up at class at the mo. She has 3 sw meals (cooked brekkie, egg/ham salad & I forget the other one) and those three meals in total have less calories than the one other picture of a meal which is steak & kidney pie, chips, mushy peas & gravy (70syns-1400 calories) - so they're doing something right ;)

I don't think it's necessary to spend money on joining a gym. If you're enjoying your wii, the chances are you will stick to doing it regularly which is much more use than a vigorous work-out only done spasmodically. Walking is excellent exercise and can be done for free - borrow an elderly person's dog and you'll be doing them a favour too :D

I do think making exercise an integral part of your lefe helps to ensure that the weight stays off, not to mention the other health benefits for your heart, bone density etc.

The other meal is a meat curry and rice. Isn't it a powerful image? I honestly can't imagine anyone choosing the pie and chips over the other meals, they look so flavoursome and, well, pretty (strange description I know), whereas the pie and chips looks so 'beige' and boring.

  • Morning - still learning the ropes here!! Trying to do EE

Breakfast was 2 weetabix with 150 ml skimmed milk (I think this is HEB and some of HEA - I'll be using the rest of the milk in my tea through the day - I love me tea!!)

I brought a ML yogurt and some fruit for lunch but I'm figuring that as its free I should get myself a real lunch and not deprive myself - I'll probably have a jacked spud and some salad or tuna or something.

We had the most amazing spag bol last night with extra lean beef, loads of mushrooms, onions, peppers and tins of toms cooked well down with load of spaghetti. I certainly wasn't hungry! I'm not sure what to have for tea yet - I'm lurking online at various recipe sites.

I will probably use my syns for a wee drinky - I don't actually like chocolate or biscuits surprisingly enough! I realise that I can't use them on booze alone so I'll research what I can use them on.....any ideas for tea?
