LJW - are you measuring your HEx's? Are you double checking that everything you think is free actually is? If you're doing EE are you having 1/3 superfree foods at every meal? Are you drinking enough?
Don't worry - I did that the first time I did SW and was devestated - however I went on to lose 4.5 in my 2nd week and 3.5stone in 5 months! Chin up - it does and will work.0 -
Hi All,
Hello to all new members and congras to those of you who have had losses this week. I had week 3 WI today and after my absolutely awful week I've put on 4lbs! I knew I would have done have done badly (to say the very least!) after the amount of food I've eaten this past week. I set a target loss of 3lbs for this week and am hoping I make that though I've had 2 rough meetings with the bank yesterday and today to do with the divorce and money situation. Its such hard work and really stressful so will be trying hard not to let the bad habits stay around for another week.
Off to update sig with gain now:eek:

Hey kiwichick - hang in there. Take it a day at a time (and on really stressful days a meal at a time;)) and save your syns for the evenings (if you can) so you can enjoy a real treat everyday.

Could somebody please email this weeks password. I am trying to see if I can do SW myself without attending classes.
Thanks so much. xx0 -

Hi could i join in please? I have done SW several times and gave up around last july due to putting my house up for sale. I just couldnt cope with the stress of that and planning my food, doing exercise, teaching part time and looking after 2 kids under 5!
Excuses aside I am now living in my lovely new house so that stress has gone to be replaced by the "OMG nothing I own fits me, I'm so fat" stress.:rotfl:I had given away all my size 18 clothes and hung onto a few size 16 clothes and was wearing size 14. I am now wearing the size 16s and can sit down quite comfortably but I am not happy and I am  at myself for doing this to myself again.
I have done SWish meals for the past 3 days and have really reduced the snack type foods. I think I have my mind "in the zone" again. I can't face going back to class again yet and want to try to get exercise a priority again- has anyone tried Davinas new dvd or the Ministry of sound one? I re-joined the gym last Sat and haven't been yet:o. Find it hard to fit it in with 2 small kids and think a dvd would be a good stand by when it's freezing at night and I dont fancy turning out.
Thanks for the marion's rice receipe, sounds good. Think I will dig out my file and do a cous cous cake one and maybe a scan bran cake.

. Just gotta find some risotto rice, they have been out of stock in tesco, asda and morrisons here for 2 weeks!!

hi flutterby I currently make my risotto with pearl barley instead of risotto rice, it has more fibre and protein in it than rice, and I like to try and get more protein in my veggie diet which isn't always easy. Pearl barley is more chewy...and less creamy, but I really like it. I tend to make a basic risotto 'base' and then you can add whichever veg you like to it afterwards...
So roughly what I do...
This makes about 4 portions (I make it then pop the rest in the fridge for fast dinners...this is safer with pearl barley as I know it can be risky if you keep cooked rice for more than a day. (food poisoning)
I'd use either half a box of risotto rice/half a pack of pearl barley (500g pack)
Onion
2 veg stock cubes
black pepper, dried herbs
then whichever veg you'd like. A few mushrooms always go nicely in the base of a risotto I find.
parmesan (if you consider one heA is 28g worth, so I tend to put about 90g in and count it as my cheese allowance for each day I have it.)
Fry off the onion in fry light until it's softened
add the rice/barley and toast for 1-2 minutes
I just mix the stock in a measuring jug and pour it in a bit at a time...boiling water and oxo cubes. Just keep adding and stirring, if you're using rice you've got to add a bit at a time and test the grain until they're soft enough for you. I might use up the water with the 2 stock cubes in...so after that I just keep adding boiled water...the hotter the better. add the black pepper and herbs, and a few mushrooms if you like them, I slice them quite thinly so they just blend in. Once the rice/barley is cooked to your liking then put in the parmesan. You could also add a spoon of fromage frais or quark to make it a bit more creamy.
Then add your Veg:
If I'm doing asparagus and pea...I tend to chop up the asparagus then cook it in the microwave for 4 minutes or so until it's cooked, then chuck it in the pan...I do the same with the peas.
I also like to do roast sweet potato, pepper and sweetcorn risotto. For this I would cut up one sweet potato before I start the actual risotto, cook it for a 4-5 minutes in the microwave, then put it on a roasting tray along with the chopped up pepper (yellow/orange or red) with fry light a tsp of honey (1 syn) and a little wholegrain mustard (0.5 syns) they take about 20mins to get a bit crispy. Then I'd just put some drained tinned sweetcorn kernels in to finish.
Hope that's not too long winded!0lbs/18lbs to get to club 100 -
Went back to SW tonight after 1 year & 6 lb gain from 2 stone loss with Woman mag coupon which gave me free membership.
Obviously was supposed to have gone "computerised" but was a complete disaster as most of the results she read out were wrong & then went on to hand written records as the ladies using the computer had obviously given up which were equally embarassing.e.g. "You`ve maintained" "Yes I`m a target member" etc etc
Am not against progress or computerisation but obviously needs to get sorted as it`s upsetting loads of members and the consultant has no accurate records to fall back on0 -
chequers - the same thing happens with paper though! My consultant read out I'd lost 1stone 10.5 today - I've lost 1stone 4 - and she was reading off the paper form.
It'll sort itself out - there's always problems to start with !0 -
I had been doing reasonably well this week, some wine and fajitas on Saturday. And a few extras. But oh called me last night after enrolling at a college night class and asked me if i fancied a pizza. I didnt take long to think about it. I ate a WHOLE medium Sizzler pizza with garlic dip
:o.
The thing is Its Wi tonight and id gained 1/2 lb last week. Im too embaressed to go. I dont know why ive been so naughty those couple of days when ive been quite enjoying the plan. Ive had far too many syns to think about flexi syns now.
I need to get back into this as I was and am still determined that this is it, this is the year I lose the weight.
Oh and I were supposed to get married this year, but things changed with his job so we decided to wait until he was working again and had saved a bit. We only want a small humanist ceremony then a pub lunch for close family and friends then a big party at night. so we can do this at quite short notice. I already had my size 14 dress in my cupboard that was loose when I bought it in August.
Id be gutted if ive wasted all this time when I could of lost weight and got to target by the summer. At this rate ill never get there.
I cant blame oh fully as im a big girl and can make decisions on my own,, but hes given up SW so hes kind of suggesting the wrong things for tea and im not resisting very hard. Hes not saying that I should have it, its what he says he fancies, and I think ooh yeah I fancy a pizza too or fajitas.
Right im going to go tonight and see the damage, if its really bad I might not stay to class, but if I just gained 1lb then ill stay and brave it out lol.
Tomorrow is a new week in SW terms. Im going to aim to do at least 2 days of exercise, or at least 30 mins a day. And im going to do a 100% week.
sorry for going on, just not feeling happy with myself after last night pizza binge

Hi Nic,
Well done for deciding to go to WI, I had the same dilemma this week as I've had an absolutely awful week with ex-husband and the bank and so comfort ate almost evertything in the house. I knew I'd put on but dont want to give up so soon, WI showed a gain of 4lbs. I knew I'd put on but am glad I went because if I hadnt I would have so easily been pulled in to the mindset of not counting odd things and continuing the comfort food. I know I feel better after a week of healthy eating (even if I do get a bit bored). Just think of the lovely dress you have waiting for you and what a special day your wedding day will be for you both, something wonderful to keep you motivated.
Much love and support,
