hi, im sure it was skint catt and kellybigboobs who talked about it a while ago, I cant really remember the ratio, but I think it was 1/3 oil to water, it needs a very good shake. I tried it once but went bakc to frylite.

Thanks Nic, and all others who commented. My mum wamted to try it as she has an empty Frylight bottle, so may try mixing up a tiny bit for her just to test but not expecting much. I am a biochemist by trade, as is OH, so maybe between us we'll be able to think of/make some kind of emulsifier?!?

BTW, the falafel and homity pie were both gorgeous! Read some posts which said about the falafel being too wet so I mashed the chickpeas rather than blending them, kept the onion quite chunky and just used one egg. They needed around 30 mins in the oven instead of 15, but turned out really well :)

  • BLODWEN - Mustard works to emulsify oil and water,as does food colouring according to my searches on the internet. However I also think that only half filling the bottle would be better as it will give the mixture more room to agitate together when you shake it.Have you looked at the ingredients on the bottle?I don't have one at the mo so I can't.Perhaps you could work out the proportions they use?

Hi everyone, this is my first post, though have been reading the slimming world posts for sometime.

I started slimming world from home, using my previous successful SW knowledge and current books.

The first week I lost 1lb and the second week gained 2.5lbs even though I had been following correctly and weighing my A and B's

My question is, I have an underactive thyroid and was wondering if any other members have this and have had any problems losing weight doing SW?

I would be grateful for any replies please.

Hi Bushbaby and welcome to the thread.

I have a couple of members in my group with thyroid problems and it does seem to be harder for them to lose the weight. However, one member has begun some treatment from her GP (Thyroxin maybe?) and after a couple of months of trying to get the dosage right, it seems to be working for her and she has begun to lose much more regularly.

I would suggest seeing your GP about treatment as losing weight can be hard enough without any added problems.

    Hope that helps :)
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Thanks,

i made the chickpea cake this morning and was so excited, had planned to eat it all...

but it is pretty rank to be honest, have had one slice and it made me feel a bit sick, it tasty chalky and just wrong. Going to bin it, if I'm struggling eat it if is free them I certainly ain't wastin syns on it!!!

What about your lemon meringue recipe and the raspberry pudding, they are next on my 'hit' list- please tell me they are delicious!!!

    You could try these:-

Raspberry Pudding (Only 2 syns for the WHOLE LOT)

    2 tubs Quark
1 sachet sugar free jelly, preferably raspberry
    ¼ pt boiling water
    1 bag/tub frozen raspberries, defrosted (approx 400g)
    2 tbsp Splenda

Put the Quark and splenda in a bowl. Make up the jelly with ¼ pt boiling water and add to the quark. Mix well using a stick blender if possible.
Fold in the raspberries with a metal spoon then put into serving bowls and chill until set.

Ginger Banoffee Pudding Serves 4 @ 5 syns per serving

    6 ginger biscuits
    2 large bananas
    1 tbsp. lemon juice
4 tubs Muller Light toffee yoghurt
    ½ oz plain chocolate, grated

Place the ginger biscuits in a clean plastic bag. Seal and crush finely with a rolling pin. Peel and thinly slice the bananas, then toss in the lemon juice to prevent browning.
Layer the toffee yoghurt, sliced banana and crushed ginger biscuits alternatively in 4 serving glasses. Top each glass with grated chocolate and serve.

    Quick Banana bread pudding

    2 slices wholemeal bread (HEB)
1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon Splenda
    1 medium banana

Layer the bread into a small dish, putting sliced banana between the layers.
Pour the beaten egg over, pressing the bread gently down into the egg.
    Microwave for 2 minutes.
To follow Food Optimising to the letter, you should count a syn value of 4 for the cooked banana, but since it is only one, I don't bother!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
