Thanks for the welcome. Had a good first day yesterday and done well this morning too. Made a huge saucepan of sweet potato and red pepper soup (using frylight) yesterday, so all free foods, it was lovely (even if I say so myself!).
Does anybody else have a massive amount to lose (and I mean A LOT?) If so, how do you do it, do you just do a stone at a time, how do you stop yourself from being so dishearted at the amount of time it will take?
Thanks

Me me me!!:o I have lost about 6 stone so far but still have at least another 10 stone to go!:(
How do I stop myself getting disheartened - easy peasy - I cheat a lot:rotfl::rotfl:! Seriously I know that I am not going to stick to the diet 100% for the almost 2 years it would take me to lose the weight at a healthy rate. So I do the best I can - 1 stone at a time!
Probably not the best way of doing it but it suits me and my life. When I first started I couldn't even stand in line to get weighed - had to sit in a chair - now I even go for walks! Granted they are pretty slow ones as I have arthritis in my knees but at least I can do it!!

Hi, what was the recipe? I made curry last night and it was, well lacking something, not sure what so a good recipe would be fab!
IS THIS IT???
for a huge portion (would feed 4)
2 tins of chopped tomatoes (with garlic) or passata
1 tin mushy peas (2 if you want it to be really thick)
1 large onion
2 peppers
mushrooms
hot or medium curry powder (as much or as little as you want)
fry off the veg in a large / deep pan (we used a wok) in fry light.
add tomatoes / passata
keep stirring
when all cooked add mushy peas and cook for another 5 mins
stirr in curry powder (keep tasting until you get the right amount )
add salt and pepper
if you want in the meantime cook chicken / beef - add altogether and voila!
I've just been looking at the cous cous cake and the chickpea cake posted by consultant31 (i think) on a recipe thread. Has anyone made them, are they nice? I could fair go a bit of cake .0 -
Hi Lynne!! yes! Thats the one.
Altough, that would make a very very LARGE portion!!!!
I used one tin chopped tomatoes, 1 tin mushy peas, onion and added chicken, onion and peppers. going to add mushrooms later asits for dinner (i was just testing!) and possibly some pineapple and green beans.
and i had a good helping on a baked poattoe for lunch, and there will be plenty for OH and I for dinner, plus possibly 1-2 portions left over!!
The way i did it differs,
i fried the onion in frylight. Added 4-5 heaped Tbsp of Medium curry powder (ended up a nice hotness!). Added the toms and peas and let it heat through, Took it off the heat and blended and put back on the heat. Sacue still way too thick for my liking so i added approx 9oz of water and let it simmer again, and then i added my chicken n veg! I didnt feel it needed salt though!
Definitely a must if you like curry!!Im gonna make more and freeze it for nights when OH wants an unhealthy dinner like burgers n chips etc. I will still feel like im getting something "bad" but its alll free free free!!!! :A

Hi all,
Don't know if you remember me, I was around for a while in Nov/Dec. Basically I fell off the wagon massively and was too ashamed to show my face around here!! Been struggling since new year to get back on track- have been trying to count calories but it's such a faff - can't be doing with having to count the calories in everything from sugar free squash to frylight and veg!
Anyway, back to good old SW - going to visit the folks tonight and my mum has started SW again so hoping a weekend on plan will give me the kickstart I need.
Have a great weekend everyone x2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Hi WoS,
I have a fair bit to lose, around 7 stone, so you're certainly not alone! I'm right at the beginning of losing weight this time, but thinking back on other times I've lost a lot I just looked at how much I'd lost rather than what I still had to lose. I also looked back on how I looked when I was heavier, and thought about how much better I looked and felt even with just a 7lb loss. Trying on old big clothes is a good way of really valuing how far you've come, as is thinking what the situation would be if you hadn't lost weight (i.e. I try and imagine how big I'd be if I'd carried on as I was)

Thanks Blodwen. I agree, I feel so much better when I have lost weight and look better and yes, if i wasn't dieting I would be even larger.
The problem is, I can do fantastically well for around the first 6-8 weeks, full of enthusiasm, do really well, then I just don't know why, but I seem to just lose the dieting mojo. My consultant at slimming world is very good though and recognises the difficult patch, but then I usually bury my head in the sand and either don't go to the meetings or don't stay. I am just trying to find a way of pre-empting this and treying to make the whole whoel thing "different" this time. I am 44 and have been dieting on and off since I was about 12. Wish to god I had never started. I really NEED this time to be different.
Thanks for all your support so far. Good luck on restarting and I hope you have a good weekend with your parents.
Best wishes

I'm taking pound at a time, and think I will reward myself with something (not food!) everytime time I lose half a stone.
I'm thinking of it as a lifestyle change rather than being disheartened at the length of time it will take! As asfter all, if and when I do get to target then I'll have to stick at SW to maintain!

Thanks Flutterby. Yes, it is a lifestyle change, rather than a diet and maybe that's the way to go, reward myself after each stone or something. Mmmm, need to think about this.
I am in it for the long term and need to make changes.
Thanks

WOS - as you've said you need to stop thinking about it as a diet - I've never known any other diet where you can eat as much! you never need to be hungry (but it feels good occasionally
)
Make sure you plan in advance and have plenty of free foods in - there's very little in my fridge/cupboards which has any syns as I know I'd eat it then! That's just the way you have to continue.
Enjoy
Oh and guys......I bought my wedding dress today and it wasn't either of those first two! (but I also can't find a piccie that does the detail justice!) :j:j:j
