I don't think I've ever had tongue burn from pineapple but I'm wondering if you brushed your teeth shortly before eating it? Sometimes I find toothpaste has a funny effect on things (eg the taste of coffee)
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!

i have experienced the tongue burn from pineapple, but have no idea about reducing tongue burn - have you tried freezing it? Don't know what difference it would make!!! I stopped buying pineapple for that reason - and the fact that it was expensive and i hate cutting it up!!!

:( hi all, well here i am wandered back to this page again. I was doing ok on SW before christmas but then very, very stupidly decided to take a break just for christmas and well i just cant get back to it. Unfortunately i can't afford to go to class at the moment, and i have no idea where this massive appetite has appeared from :( i just seem to have no control whatsoever. Does anyone have any suggestions how to get out of this mess i'm in? all contributions will be very very gratefullt accepted.
When i say massive appetite i really do mean massive, i'm just about at my wits end now.
Sorry for the rant, hope you are all still doing well.

Any ideas what I can have with my fresh pineapple to stop the tongue burn? Had a muller after it last night and that was just as bad, I don't want to waste a free food :rotfl:

Am looking forward to going back to work next week so will get back to eating at regular times, its half 3 and I still haven't had lunch and not really hungry :o.

That Thai Yellow curry sounds interesting, hopefully some kind person will post the recipe soon [pretty please].

I get this too! Try sprinkling a little salt on the pineapple before you eat it. I know it sounds weird but it does taste ok and it does stop the burning effect! Assuming of course you don't have high blood pressure and can eat salt! (don't need to put loads on - just a sprinkle will do)

    Marion:)
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!

If you cut it up a few hours (or even the night before) you're planning on eating it and sprinkle it with sweetener that should cancel out some of the acidity which is causing the "tongue burn". It also really nice if you grind up fresh mint leaves with the sweetener (I've only ever actually done it with sugar, but I'm assuming sweetener would work just as well), and sprinkle that over. It's a really good "pallette cleanser" if you've had a curry or something!! And it also feels a bit more like a dessert than just eating straight pineapple! :)

I only started back on SW last week, and my appetite was MASSIVE in the weeks before I got started (and I mean I was actually practically crying at times from sheer frustration at being so hungry all the time). I've basically been winding down the junk gradually over the course of the week, and my appetite is gradually reducing too!

For me though, the hunger is often out of boredom! Every time you get what I call mouth hunger - try and find something else to occupy your attention, whether it's going for a walk, having a nice long bubble bath, reading a book, even just washing the dishes or something!!

    xx

does anyone have any ideas on red day lunches? Not the usual ham, blt, tuna sandwiches. It needs to be quick to prepare the day before. Am having a memore blank!!

Do you have a morrisons near your workplace? 60% of my lunches are from the hot chicken counter :D i have bought a whole roast chicken before now, removed the skin and ate the whole thing! lol.

i have a lot of red days and i have either,

    ham salad
    ham, cheese and crackerbreads
roast chicken from morrisons deli (the cooked thighs are really cheap! yum)
leftover meats (from night before) with pickles and cheese followed by apple and grapes to make a ploughmans type lunch

you could make a meaty SW quiche which would give you a couple of lunches :)
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

Thanks Vixie_Pixie, I'm actually a full time student and there is a morrisons right next to college and it has never crossed my mind to get the chicken from the counter, do you count it as free as long as the skin is removed? x

I do count it as free, yes. But i do remove all skin and any fatty looking bits on the chicken. The cheapest option is the roasted thighs as they are 5 for £1.45 in my local store.

Unfortunately the southern fried chicken and the chicken bites have syns as do the ribs - boo!

You could treat yourself to the flavoured chicken wings they do sometimes - usually @ 4 for a £1. I remove the skin so they are free but if you wanted to keep the skin on i would allow 2.5 syns per wing to allow for the skin and the marinade - i know that roasted wings with skin are 1 syn each but i have no idea what goes into the coating on the wings :)
