wow thanks everyone for your support & replys ive just printed off a 7 day meal plan for slimming world and i am impressed no wonder i feel ill .I am quite surpised how you can lose weight with 3 meals a day but it clearly does work .I can see now where im going wrong ive only been having 1 meal a day .My down fall has always been junk food /fast food and lots of snacks usually when im bored also fizzy drinks .Im not keen on water as an every day drink just wondered what can i drink ? i do like fruit juices are they ok to drink every day on a regular basis ?

Well done for starting slimming world, I hope you will enjoy it! I am afraid fruit juices are high in syns so won't be a huge part of your new diet. How about sugar free squash mixed with fizzy water? or diet club soda or diet tonic water or any diet fizzy drinks really!
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!

    Hi all,

Well I've been hiding as I haven't really been all that good (my head nor my heart aren't really into it) and am resigned now to being a fat bride as I have 8 weeks to go :(

Skiving from WI tonight but pretty much planned a red week coming up so I hope I can stick to it!

    Bacon & Egg for brekkies
Chicken Salad or Sandwiches for lunch
Then various dinners - meat & 2 veggie style.
Cheese as a HEa snack at work
Drinks - tea & diet coke

Am not really in the mood for 'cooking' anything from scratch so trying to keep it easy.

I picked up some 10 cal soups in Morrisons tonight - anyone tried them & how are they? I guess worth a try for 0.5syns each!

    Catt,

You will be a fab and healthy bride, and when you have enjoyed all the celebrations - still in control - a slim and healthy woman at your own pace. Your challenge was huge and I think really difficult even without the added stress of 'organise a wedding, too', so don't be too hard on yourself.

We'll still be here once you are Mrs Catt!

Don't feel so good today possibly down to the fact I spent the morning walking dog and playing rounders with my son [his idea of revision for his sport GCSE, he also practised the rugby bit with his dad]. When we came home I spent to much time in the garden hacking a path to the field at the end of it [don't ask]. Anyway had a shower then got really cold and now feel really rough.

    Food today

    B - weetabix [bs] milk [a] coffee

L - pasta [think I maybe intolerent as tummy feels yuk again], toms, cue, grated carrot, fat free dressing.

T - will be SW chips, egg & beans with lashings of salt & vinegar so I can pretend Ive had greasy fry up as thats what I fancy  [just realized why - * week coming up]

Snacks - Vanilla & choc muller

Syns - maccoys [8] 3 cadburys double choc fingers [3] tomato sauce [1]

Am now feeling warm & toastie so hopefully feel bit better soon.
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

  • Hey all,

Feeling a wee bit fed up, went and met my friend for lunch as planned, we went to Nando's specifically so that I could eat and still stick to the plan, but they had problems with their grills, so the only thing they were serving was the breast of chicken burgers, which I had with the spicy rice (they weren't doing the corn on the cob or the salad's etc).

I think I kind of convinced myself that it wouldn't be that bad syn wise, maybe a days worth or something, but the book says a chicken burger from a burger van is 20.5 syns - does anyone know if this is the same for Nando's burgers??

The worst of it is, I'm still bloomin' hungry!! It was nice, but defo not worth 2 days syns!! :(:(:(

    xx

No-one else has answered you, so I thought I would! I'm a newbie to SW, but I would guess that a burger van chicken burger might be deep fried, but a Nando's one would be grilled. I would probably count about four syns for mayo, a couple for oil and however many you think the roll/pitta would be.

Been good today. I'm hoping I've clawed the week back after my bad Friday/Saturday. We'll find out tomorrow at WI.

B-L/F Yogurt, High Fibre Bar (HEB)

L-Quorn Cottage Pie (2 syns for gravy), Green Beans

    D-Pasta Primavera, Pineapple

S- Cappucino (milk from HEA), Banana, Roasted Parsnip & Sweet Potato, Harvest Chewee Bar (5 syns)
:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator :p

Yes, my DD did. She lost 2½ stone and gained a gorgeous, healthy baby boy :D
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Thanks got-it-spend-it! :D One from the burger van is usually breaded as well, so hopefully a nando's one wouldn't be as bad on that count too!

I think I'll round it up to an even 10 written off on lunch today, then try and stick to 7/8 for the rest of the week in case it was more! (Probably ridiculous, but it makes sense in my head! ;))

Well done on getting back on track - sometimes that's harder than getting started in the first place! Oh - and good luck tomorrow for your WI - fingers crossed for a nice big loss!!

    xx

RetiredLady: They do indeed have some SWs in the USA but they're all based in Texas which appears to have one of the biggest weight loss industries in the country!! Not sure if that means they're all healthy over there or the complete opposite. I looked at doing SW online but I get more out of this forum than I would the website!

Michael Pollen, author of 'In Defence of Food', thinks that there is definitely a conspiracy to keep us over eating incidentally! He reckons the only way the food industry can continue to grow is to keep feeding people massive portions that don't fill you up! It's a really good book and he makes a lot of good points if you happen to see it in the library!

Susieann: You should take a look at your calories based on the special K diet. I don't know what portion sizes you were using but the suggested serving of 30g ish of special K with, say a cup of semi skimmed milk would only amount to about 250 calories. If you have that twice a day, then 300 calories of fruit over the day (about 100 per piece) you're only reaching 550 calories. I've read that most women should have at least 1200 calories every day, even when dieting, so unless your evening meals were 650 calories, you were likely below the minimum. Women with more to lose should have more like 1500! Good luck with SW - we love it! If it doesn't work out for you try keeping an eye on those calories!
