STS this week - not surprising with the amount of alcohol consumed and a burger to sober me up - i did resist the cheese and sauce! And OH didn't help by buying me a reduced (was £2.99 now 75p) choco chick with buttons inside!

Lisa - SW Quiche - Mix together the 3 eggs, 150g very low fat natural cottage cheese (i use tesco value fat free cottage cheese!) and some chopped parsley (guinea pigs get it before i get a chance to use it!). Lay the chopped vegetables (or meat or whatever you fancy e.g. pasta) out in an oven-proof flan dish then pour the cottage cheese mix over. Pop in the oven at 190ºC/375ºF/Gas 5 for around 30 minutes, or until the quiche is set and golden brown.

    Some suggestions of fillings:
    Tuna & Sweetcorn
    Ham & Broccoli
    Salmon & Dill
Cheese & Onion (use cheese as HE)
Quiche Lorraine (Bacon Cheese & Onion)

  • Hey all,

Feeling a wee bit fed up, went and met my friend for lunch as planned, we went to Nando's specifically so that I could eat and still stick to the plan, but they had problems with their grills, so the only thing they were serving was the breast of chicken burgers, which I had with the spicy rice (they weren't doing the corn on the cob or the salad's etc).

I think I kind of convinced myself that it wouldn't be that bad syn wise, maybe a days worth or something, but the book says a chicken burger from a burger van is 20.5 syns - does anyone know if this is the same for Nando's burgers??

The worst of it is, I'm still bloomin' hungry!! It was nice, but defo not worth 2 days syns!! :(:(:(

Hi not had time to read all post yet but will try to over the next few days for some tips .
I have only been dieting for a week ,i feel really irritable and in abit of a bad mood since dieting ,i am putting it down to dieting just wondered is this normal and more importantly will it pass

I have been doing the special k diet because it sounded easy plus i like special k but i dont think its suiting me i have been doing this for a week

    special k for breakfast
    fruit snack(banana )
    special k for lunch
    another piece of fruit (apple/pear)
    a healthy meal for dinner
fruit snack (usually a few grapes )

I know its only for 2 weeks i thought it would be easy because i love ceral & fruit but im finding my self feeling very irrititable & shaky

Today ive changed my meal plan alittle i have enjoyed what i have eaten today i feel abit more satified with the food ive had just wanted peoples views on my meal plan today

    Special k for breakfast
    banana (mid morning )
scrambled egg on weight watchers toast for lunch
ive just had another 2 slices of weight watches bread toasted
chicken stir fry for evening dinner
might end up having some grapes

With what i have eaten today does that look ok or am i eating too much ?
I havent joined weight watchers yet i just wanted to see if i could lose alittle on my own
  • Susianne, I don't think the special k diet is actually any good for anyone. I would guess that you lose weight because you aren't eating many calories but if you are feeling shaky and irritable then your body isn't gettng enough fuel. If you aren't feeding your body enough, it thinks its being starved and then you put on weight because it's holding every single calorie you consume.

What you had today sounds better, but weightwatchers is quite limited in portions, once you have had your points for the day then thats it, only free food i.e tomatos and carrots for the rest of the day!

I used to be a huge WW fan until I actually tried SW and I found SW much better, although it seems to take a while to get used to the idea of eating a lot and working out the days.

What you have eaten today is much much better than previously. xx

Hello susieanne - this is a slimming world forum so most of us are used to eating a lot more food than you are eating at the moment! I would guess however that you are not getting enough food to eat and perhaps having too much of bread and cereals? Have you tried SW? You can have loads of food to eat and guaranteed you won't feel hungry!
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!
  • would never ever do those cereal diets. No wonder you feel ill.

Went to the farm today. Was very good. There was ice cream, fresh donuts, waffles, pancakes etc. Didn't have any! :D

  • Hey susieanne,

I don't think you're eating too much at all, in fact, I don't think you're eating enough, or enough variety either for that matter. I've never tried the special k diet, but I just don't think quick fixes like that one really work, any weight you loose will likely all come back as soon as you start eating normally again. By doing diets like the SPecial K one, you're really training your body that it needs to hold onto any calories it gets in the longer term, as it may have to do without in the near future, so often people end up putting more weight back on than they've lost. Plus - as you've found, being hungry and having no variety in your food only really makes you miserable, and it can promote an unhealthy relationship with food - which often leads to eating more of the things you're doing without, simply because you feel deprived!

Obviously this is a slimming world thread though, and that is only my opinion (based on the fact that I'm a Biology teacher and studied nutrition/psychology as part of my degree rather than me actually having tried the diet) so I don't know if people will have enough experience of either to advise you on their merits,

As far as slimming world goes though, the beauty of it is that you're never hungry, you can eat 'til you're bursting and still lose weight, just provided you're eating the right foods! It's also a more sustainable plan for the long term, you're basically re-educating yourself on how to cook in a more healthy way whilst still eating foods that you enjoy!

If you haven't already, you really should give it a go! You might be surprised at how achieveable it is

    xx
