As someone who as done this on & off for years (more off than on)

I remember when fruit was introduced as a free food(believe it or not once upon a time we had to count it as syns!!) we were told that whole fruit was free, everything else need to be synned as it would be easy to over consume.

However over the years the(various) consultants that i've been to have said as long as the amount of fruit you consume chopped up is not more than what you would reasonably consume in the day then that is fine.It is something to bare in mind however if your weight loss comes to a standstill.

A lady in group once kept gaining but she was eating pounds & pounds of grapes a day she couldn't understand about overconsuming .
It's about eating a balanced diet - that wasn't balanced.

By the way i think we go to the same class!! Weird:D

    About 5 syns IIRC sashanut.

:jHey thanks for that Catt - they were quite nice as well as a sweet fix in the afternoon, stopped me from picking at dinner whilst I made it:D packs of them were 79p in HB yesterday. Not too bad yesterday mealwise:
B: M rice & yog plus a bit of fruit
L: Lentil soup 1 whole mealbread crust (heb)(heb)?
    S: snackajacks 5 syns, MRice + mullerlight
D: Quorn burger, egg & bubble & squeak all done in FL, tom sauce (1syn)
    orange, pear, 2 jaffacakes (4)

    hea milk in tea
Don't know if anyone else does this, but I make up a batch of the rice (200g/8oz or so). When it's cooked I keep it in the fridge (for a couple of days, it doesn't last longer than that). Then when I want to eat it, I put some in a bowl & warm in m/wave, add muller to taste & fruit. One thing that is nice, if you like the choc mullers, is when it's warmed to your taste - to add half a choc/vanilla one & stir in, then just a dollop of the cherry one in the middle. The cherry layer ones are synned I know, but you can put a big blob in for about 1/2 a syn:D

    Marions Famous Breakfast Rice:D

Cook 1/2 cup of pudding rice in 1 cup of water for about 20 minutes (I use my remoska). Remove from heat put into a bowl, add fruit and a complementing muller yogurt and mix together! ie rice with sliced banana and toffee yogurt, rice with frozen blueberrys and a blueberry yogurt, rice with mandarin segments (chopped) and mandarin yogurt. For best results eat straight away while it is nice and warm! Tastes really nice and is very very filling! Also free on SW green and EE so can be made any time you fancy it really!

Morning everyone, I am in need of a kick up the rear! Last night i went for dinner, Wagamama, which was lovely, but i dread to think how many syns... as i had a glass of wine, juice, and.... a curl wurly when i got home........ This would be ok, but i am increasingly finding myself having flexi-syn days, and not sticking to it at all, and soon i may as well just give up :( I know i need to drink more, and stop snacking. Any ideas on subtle ways to keep myself motivated?

Can anyone give me a 'recipe' for tasty filling, low-syn potato/pasta salads? I've never been good at making them taste any good!

    THanks :D

Here is how I make my potato salad -

    Ingredients needed:

Baby new potatoes cooked and still warm
VLF mayo mixed with quark (don't stint on the dressing - use a whole pot of quark and as much mayo as you can afford the syns for) plus salt & pepper and english mustard to taste
hard boiled eggs - sliced - loads of!
    spring onions chopped
    finely chopped celery

Mix altogether then chill. My mixing the dressing into the potatoes while they are still warm you will get better coverage and it will soak into the potatoes a bit giving a nice flavor. When ready serve on a bed of salad leaves and sprinkle a bit of paprika over the top for interest. You could also at this point surround the salad with totmato wedges.

    Marion:)

Sounds great Marion thanks - I think that's where I've gone wrong before - not using enough mayo but of course I forgot about the Quark effect! :D

For pasta salad I make the same dressing and mix into cooked warm al dente pasta spirals. I then add chopped (fairly smallish) cucumber, red, green and yellow peppers and cooked sweetcorn. I make the dressing with quark effect but instead of mayo with this one I tend to go with salad cream.

Mmm - starting to feel like having salad now:rotfl:

    Marion:)

If you want to save your syns with this one you can also just use the very low fat dressing that is free, can't remember who makes it atm?

  • Good day today so far,

    B: 2 weetabix (B) 175ml milk (A) banana.
L: Egg noodles, Iceland chicken (6), soy sauce, corn on cob, salad, 2 finger kit-kat (5.5), muller.
D: Egg fried rice with bacon & veg, never made this before so its a bit of an experiment.

Will try my hardest not to have any more syns, feel motivated today so should be ok. Going to take ds for a swim when he wakes up and all ready been for a walk this morning. Think I'm trying so hard today because I'm going to a birthday party tomorrow where there will be a buffet :eek::eek: as well as vodka :rotfl:

Hope your all having a good day
