    Debt-free and Proud!
Couple of developments since the last WI, the good news being that I seem to be losing weight steadily this week so I'm hopeful for that 1st stone next Monday :)
Other than that I finally shelled out for some 400g wholemeal bread (Warburtons) that I actually like so I can have toast again without feeling like I'm using up my whole syn allowance for the day with one lot of breakfast! I also got adventurous & made HM minestrone soup for the first time, so that's lunch sorted for a while. Doesn't fill me up as much as I'd hope though, might have to make a bigger batch next time.

I'm off to a friends house tonight anyway and she's cooking, however I'm taking dessert so there's some SW icecream being made in the freezer as I write. Fingers crossed it turns out ok!

well done all losers and samers and fingers crossed for next week for the gainers. I lost 2 lb this week so that's better than the 1.5 lb on last week.

A question please. I've been trying to work out the syns using the online syn calculator of Orgran (there's an extra R in there, you notice) gluten free falafel mix. I grabbed it in the shop because it looked to me as if it would be free, provided one ignored their cooking instructions to "fry in at least 1" of oil". My problem is with Kcal and kJ. If I put the calorie per portion (124) into Kcal it estimates 6 syns on red and 1 on green/EE. If I put the calorie per portion into the kJ box it becomes free on everything, can anyone advise please? On the box it just says 124 calories per serving, doesn't say Kcal or kJ.

(ingredients are: yellow peas, onion, parsley, garlic, salt, turmeric, traditional herbs and spices, mustard, sodium bicarbonate).

the other figures needed for online calculation per serving are: fat 0.9g, carbs 19g, protein 8g.

    Many thanks.
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

Blackberry rum, I'm afraid that the number will be calories. kJ is very rarely used but the conversion is about 5kJ in 1 calorie.

1 syn isn't bad though, and the ingredients do look like it should be free on a green/ee day.

How many grams per serving is there?

Um....shouldn't there be a KCal per 100g that you put in the Kcal bit then all the other numbers, and then portions per pack?...
Or is it one of those annoying packs that say 'per serving' but not per 100g...
Good luck from a fellow SW member!

ooh you two fabulous people (Lynne and AJR) I've had a look at other bits of the packaging now.

    Energy = 527 kJ/124 kcal per 40g portion, or 1320 kJ/312 kcal per 100g

so the 124 in kcals does make it 6 syns per portion on red and 1 on green/EE and in fact I could eat the whole lot on EE and it would only be 5 syns! :o) I did make the falafel out of the FREE FOODS hardback book and they were such a faff and really didn't taste particularly nice.

I think I will add an egg to this mix as I don't actually have allergies, and that should make them nice and moist.

I will let you know what they taste like.

Just a quick addition to the egg cooking saga

I have the lakeland poachpods little cups that you float in a pan of water(with a lidon) perfect every time , you do need to add a little spray oil before cracking the egg in

    Todays delights are Green day

B- mango chunks and fat free from frais , 2 poached eggs on wholemeal toast(heb x1)

    l- pasta and sauce

    Dinner - H/M chicken(heb x1) curry and rice

    snacks quavers, curly wurly, fruit

I am only eating 1 HEB a day does it really matter ?? i suppose i could add some nuts or something as a snack

I'm really into boiled eggs at the moment Kath, means I can do 3 or so at a time and pop the rest in the fridge for the following days. Would that not appeal?

    Right todays food:

B: apricot wheats (heB) some milk (heA) Blueberries, green tea, herbal tea.
L: HM veg soup, cottage cheese, 42g RF cheddar (heA)
D: Sainsburys meatfree cheesy garlic Kiev 4syns (worth it IMO), SW chips, tomatoes, mushrooms, mixed veg, Ex light mayo 0.5, tom K 1

Snacks: Apple. Other snacks will probs be strawberries, satsuma, activia F.F yog, Hifi Bar (heB), then for syns either funsize bag of maltesers or a couple of thorntons chocs.
