    Hi all

Well I've gone over my syns (again :() today as DS left some of his tea and I ended up eating a fish in batter . - 18.5 syns for the day - must have a better day tomorrow.

I do the grocery challenge but I'm sailing close to the wind this month - I probably won't make it. I shop for a family of 5 and I think that if it was just me I could feed myself for very little. I mostly have green or mainly veggie EE days and could happily live on stir-fries, risottos and pasta with HM sauces.
It's every body else with their demands for pizzas and sausages and Dr Pepper that costs me money! I find it very diffiult to cook for the whole family in a Slimming World way - I know I should - as I have always cooked separate meals anyway (made a rod for my own back!). I think OH is going to be more on-board now as he has 3st to lose as well.

I do think that I will be able to reduce the grocery budget when (if!!) I manage to lose weight and can make more cheap stuff like flans, HM pizzas, toad in the hole - stuff like that (I won't say pies! - going to have to be careful if I ever get to the maintenance stage). And I do intend to start cooking the same meal for everybody as the kids get older and we get thinner! This should be an incentive to lose weight ASAP shouldn't it!
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

    I want to cry :(

Lost my engagement ring on Tuesday (but found it Thursday)
    Then my laptop keyboard broke.
Then OH tells me he may have to work 3500 miles away instead of 300
Midday today I book my honeymoon - literally just as my destination turns into a national disaster zone with 32 people dead in mudslides & flood.

At least the stress might stop me eating.......

Polenta stopped being free in January this year - most new years bring a revision of syn values. TBH if you've eaten it before with no issues then continuing to eat it won't make you gain.
  • I've noticed a couple of people on here, mention their syns "weekly" rather than "daily"?

That would work great for me, can you do it every week?

Yes you can do your syns weekly every week if you prefer. I prefer mine daily as SW suggests otherwise it can lead to saving & binging which SW tries to avoid now (it's why they bought in flexible syns rather than saying you can save them)

That 12 speed soup sounds perfect consultant, thanks. The book I'm reading at the mo says that if you eat a low cal soup before a main meal you consume 25% less syns in the entire meal than you normally would so making that soup & trying it this week is my plan! :D
  • Thanks for the reply! It'll just make it a little easier some weeks for me. I tend to go for a meal about once a week with either friends or my other half and I've exhausted the Wetherspoons menu as I'm a picky eater! It just means I can save a few and have something else for a change.:T

Am a little sick of the 5 bean vege chilli....

Lol, yeah I bet you are! I always hate eating out - every dish has something you can't eat on or in it! Dressing, sauce, chorizio, mayo, butter, oil, etc etc! I'd LOVE to open a SW restaurant ;)
If I'd won that £56mil I would have!
  • I know! And I do begrudge paying nearly a fiver :eek:for a jacket potato and beans - its what I always end up with if I cant find anything else!
