Slimming World support thread for 2010

I used to go to slimming world classes and, because I'm quite a quiet person, I never really enjoyed them as I felt self-conscious talking about myself!! Yes I know, a hopeless case!
My first consultant I felt used to play up to her favourites, but I liked the second one.
I don't remember any tasting evenings and it usually was just a case of the consultant going round the room.
I didn't mind this if I had lost but if it was one of those days when I hadn't lost and was making myself stay to class anyway for inspiration, I just wanted the ground to swallow me up!
Also I always went to class on my own - it is probably much better if you have a serious diet buddy!
At the moment I'm doing Body-Optimise online but this expires on 25/2 so then I'm going to go it alone. I've decided that I've got enough information (I've printed all the list of syns etc off the website and I've bought the syn value books) and I weigh myself in Boots which is 'official' enough for me. I'll still get the magazine so hopefully that will have updates and new stuff in it.
Really it's up to me to do it now.
Anyway, good luck to everybody - however you decide to do it!August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.0 -
Hello!
Not been here for ages.
And it shows.
I've been yoyoing the same 2lbs!
I am 6lbs away from target so am trying to have as few syns as possible. Average about 3 a day. Is this the right way to go about things when nearing target?

Hi and welcome back! I do believe the advice (and I have never ever been even close to goal:o) they give at class is to reduce your syns to no less than 5 a day and to have a look at your portion control. I know in SW we are encouraged to fill our plates but I think for that last couple of pounds that are difficult to shift that if you cut down your portions (especially the pasta and rice etc,) just a bit, increase your vegies and drink plenty of water. I could how ever be wrong as this is only the impression I have from chats in class.
Marion:)When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
Hi all,
I haven't read through the first 87 pages so apologies if this has been bought up many times already:
Do any of you do Slimming World and take part in the grocery challenge?
I want to start Slimming World again. I last went 3 years ago and lost almost 2 stone, but I gave up when I kept losing and putting back on 2lbs for a few weeks. After I left I put on all the weight I lost plus more over the next couple of years. I found it a hard diet to maintain when I tried on my own.
I also remember that I found that my grocery spending went up went I bought food for the slimming world recipes and I don't want to ruin the grocery challenge as I'm doing really well on that and it makes such a difference to our income.
So, can you follow the Slimming World diet/recipes whilst keeping grocery costs down?DFW Nerd 941 Proud to be dealing with my debt

at 17.5 syns (is there a way of writing half on a keyboard?)
Yes, hold down the 'Alt' key and type 0189 et voila you have ½! :rotfl:
Someone asked for the recipe for the 12 Speed food Soup:-
1 can mixed bean salad (Tesco's but I expect other stores do similar)
2 cans chopped tomatoes
1 can baked beans
1 can green lentils (couldn't find these so used a big handful of dried)
1 big handful red lentils
2 large leeks
1 large onion
4 carrots
2 parsnips
1 red pepper
1 yellow pepper
1 green pepper
2 Vegetable stock cubes (not necessary IMO)
Salt & Pepper
Teaspoon mixed herbs
Water to cover ingredients
Chop all veg. Put everything into a huge pan (needs to hold aound 6 pints). Cover with water, bring to the boil, lower the heat and simmer for 30 mins or until veg are soft.
Once cooked you can blend smooth or leave chunky.
Freezes well. Tastes good and is excellent if you're a bit constipatedI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Ooh, thought you'd found a new Hi-Fi bar then....banana and chocolate!!!! I guess you meant a banana follwed by the chocolate orange Hi-Fi? Mind you, I think banana & choc would go down well, hmm, may have to mention that one.
Your fish pie sounds lovely and it sounds like you have a gourmet cat:rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
