I just want to vouch for Marions pancakes. I made these last year and have made them inbetween. They are delicious and suprisingly substancial. I love them in a big pile with bananas and syn some maple syrup or golden syrup.
Ive just made the kids scotch pancakes and they smell good, but I only made a small batch so there arent any leftovers. Ill be making Marions later when oh is up.

Thanks Nic, and as much as I would like to take credit for this recipe I can't. I am not sure where I got it from but I think it could have been at a SW class?

    Good morning everyone
Yesterday went to plan, here's the plan for today:

    Extra Easy
Breakfast - magic porridge (HEB) (28g porridge oats soaked overnight in a rhubarb muller light)
    Lunch - Salad, black ham

Supper - 3 Morrisons eat smart thick sausages breast (1.5 syn), baked beans, slimming world chips, 28g mature cheddar (HEA)
Snacks - tomato mugshot, grapes, 16 mikados (oops) (6 syns), 28g dried mixed fruit (4 syns)

    Syns = 13.5

I know I need to have a ryvita to have a 'full' HEB. I've seen an idea somewhere of BLT on ryvita, might have to get some bacon etc at the supermarket!

What I would really like tonight is PANCAKES! But I'm not going to go to the faff of making them just for me...

Got a question. If I have 3 wholewheat crackerbreads with 3 scan brans, is that allowed. Not very keen on the scan brans but they taste ok with laughing cow cheese on with a crackerbread on top like a sandwich.

Hiya, anyone know if this is allowed to have 3 scan brans + 3 wholewheat crackerbread as a heb?
Did it again for breakfast with banana slices.
Another thing I like about this is, it's easier to spread the cream cheese triangles on the scan bran and use the crackerbread as the top slice. If I spread anything on the crackerbread, it disintegrates but doesnt happen with the scan bran iyswim.
Cant see why I cant combine the scan bran and crackerbread but you never know with SW :)
  • Could anyone put a syn value on these? Tried Marions pancake and didnt like it, was too eggy for my liking:

These are more like thick pancakes, rather than scones, and are also known as Scotch Pancakes. They are cooked on a griddle or wide frying pan – so don't need an oven. They are good warm or at room temperature with butter and honey, golden syrup or jam – or even slices of cheese for the more savoury-toothed.
    For about 16 scones:
4 oz/120gr Self Raising Flour (synned?)
2 dessertspoons (30ml) Caster Sugar or 1 tablespoon (15ml) Golden Syrup (Synned? Could you use sweetener instead?)
    1 pinch of Salt
    1 medium Egg, lightly mixed
    ¼ pint/150ml Milk (Hex A)
a little butter or lard for cooking (frylite butter version)
  • One of our clients has just dropped off a big container of hot pancakes to our work oh man!! Temptation!!

28g of flour has 4.5 syns so
    120g = 20 syns
    28g castor sugar =5.5 syns
    1 tbp syrup - 2 syns

so if you make 16 scones using syrup instead of castor sugar then 22/16 about 1.5 syns each.
  • Hi all :D

    Just a flying visit :D

    EE Day

B - Puffed wheat with Cuppa -i really do not like oat/scan bran so i'm stuggling to make up that extra bit of fibre :(

L - left over veggie stir fry (about 1.5 syns for the oil and sauce), banana, packet of french fries 4.5 syns

D- 3 slices of boiled gammon with salad and savoury rice (1.5 syns a packet so 1/3rd of a pack 0.5 syns)

I got the little dessert pamphlet from the mag which has a recipe for pancakes in and they will be 5 1/2 syns per serving (shall post it later coz cant remember now)

    = 12 syns
All hail to the sale!!!!!!

    new beginnings...... new successes..

For those of you with a few syns to spare you can make a few proper pancakes with this mix:

Asda Smartprice, Batter Mix, made up as directed, dried, 100g made up 11 syns

I have used these for the family and there was enough for 2 hungry pancake lovers! Can't say how many they make because it really depends on the size you make.
