Thank you consultant31 for that great link! Had no idea it was there to be honest. I am just writing a shopping list/meal plan using the recipes (while the 2 smallest monsters sleep!!!).
Also I'm finding new foods to eat already - love ryvitas and didn't realise how many I could have as a healthy option. I need to have a bit more variety as I am going to be at SW for a fair bit longer - hoping to lose at least another 3 stone. Having 2 babies in 2 years plays havoc with your waistline.:D
Also big thank you to nic2075 for the crisps - they are also on my shopping list...
Also thinking about your consultant, what a fantastic lady and my thoughts are with her.0 -
just arranged lunch tomorrow with a friend and we're off to frankie and bennies. does anyone know of a SW friendly dish there?
Their ribs are fabulous!:D:D:eek: I havn't been for a while but I don't remember the menu being particularly SW friendly. I suppose you could order a salad and bring your own low syn dressing? Or flexible syn and enjoy yourself - as long as it is not a regular occurance you should be ok. Be real good for the rest of the week but continue to have your syns as normal. Life happens!
Marion:DWhen life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -

Hi all, got my books last night so I'm away! Am just wondering about meat and poultry really - I know it's best to buy the lean minced beef, but when it comes to chicken and pork is it necessary to buy the healthy eating ones or can you just get the normal ones and remove the fat? I was looking at some gammon steaks today but as they had some fat running through them I wasn't sure whether they would be ok or not?
I didn't lose anything last week (my first week) and I think it could be because I'm not eating a good variety of foods, so I want to make sure I get everthing right this week so I'll hopefully have a loss for my first group weigh inSome people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass0 -
With 'plain' meat then it's fine to just remove the fat - but check gammon on syns online as some of the value gammon steaks aren't free (I'm guessing they're reconstituted - bleugh!)

Amazing discovery made! Maybe some of you know, but it's new to me - syn free crisps! Homemade!
I fancied crips tonight, so sliced some potatoes thinly with a mandolin, sprayed a "cookasheet" non stick sheet with fry light, popped on the potato slices in a single layer, sprayed again and sprinkled with a little salt.
Popped in the microwave for 3 mins, turned over and cooked another 2 mins. Hey presto - proper crisps!! Takes a few batches to make a decent amount tho!
I guess you could season with paprika etc, and could also do sweet potato, parsnip, even beetroot crisps!
I think they're free, but maybe not as they're not that filling, but a great snack anyway! Definitely lower fat than shop bought, and really do taste just as good. I'm thrilled!slimming world start: 17.1.10 @ 200 lb's

Hi all,
first weigh in for me tonight
Getting new password tonight but hoping to pick someone's brains please? Is the WW wine less syns than normal wine, or are they all as bad as eachother :rotfl:
Planning on either a celebratory or drown my sorrows glass after WI and if it's lower syns then damn it I'll have two :T
Second newbie question, has anyone got any tips about alternatives to coconut milk? I love thai green curry and quite fancy making it with quorn for a green day treat, but would like to keep it as low syn as possible. I was thinking about dessicated coconut and creme fraiche (low fat) what do you think?

Fab thanks Catt
If I've lost I'll have a little glass or two... if I've STS or put on I'm going to buy five bottles, drink them and give it up as a bad job
Mind you... if I drink five bottles I'll be off food for at least a week so maybe there's something there...:rotfl:
