  • Hi all, haven't been around for a bit, have been sort of sticking with the plan but not really :o if I'm lucky it will be another STS week. Although today went a bit haywire, there's something very stressful going on at work and even worse today it was stressful with biscuits (the nice M&S chocolate ones) and I had a wagon slip and ate three. Plus they served lunch as well - I ended up having lasagna with salad and coleslaw. And half a dessert too:o:o

And with my dear gym buddy having abandoned me to have a holiday (the cheek!) I am not doing so good at getting my lardy behind out of bed in the mornings either.

Anyway WI tonight and I'm hoping it will chase me right back on to the straight and narrow...please keep your fingers crossed for me, I think I'll need it!

Thanks very much for those recipes Consultant - yum yum.

Would I be right in thinking that if I replaced the quorn with extra lean steak mince at 5% fat then that would be OK for an extra easy day? I usually dry fry the mince and take off amy fat that comes of (which is very little really with the lean mince).

In the end I had to find space in my freezer soout came a large tub of SW lentil and veg soup! HAd a bowl with a salad to which I added some sweetcorn and some lean bacon. Ver delicious.

I'm here again though having not had a HEB and my only HEA has been a bit of milk in my tea. I have had VLF yogurt though so there's my calcium.

I shall have to have something later tonight but I don't fancy eating bread or cereals in the evening. What else can I use for an HEB?
    Trying to keep in budget.

Nice to have you back in the fold :)

Looking at your lunch, it seems bitty and not very filling :(

I think planning is the key to good weight loss, and then instead of wondering what to have till you're starving and just grab anything you fancy, you would have the ingredients for a substantial meal to hand.

Please don't think I'm picking at you, because I'm really not, I'm only trying to help. I seem to have inadvertantly upset someone yesterday :( and don't want to do it again, but I know from personal experience how hard it is to keep trying when you're maintaining week after week.

Spend some time one evening deciding what you will eat for each meal, each day, get the food in and stick to the plan for a full week. I'm sure you'll see a big difference and hopefully, that will get you back on the straight and narrow.

Welcome back Robpw2 - don't worry, there's no syns in Tiramisu if you enjoyed it :rotfl::rotfl:

Thanks Consultant, it's all constructive and it's great to get your point of view and advice. it really is a great help. :) i've been so busy that it's hard to sit down and think of myself but i'm going to sit down and meal plan ready for my supermarket shop on saturday. the various recipes you posted look delicious and thankfully i've got slimming friendly ingredients in the store cupboard. :)

Congratulations on another great weight loss Rob!

Had a busy week, but have stayed on track. Just got in tonight and made a fast tomato and rosemary soup for myself and it was really tasty:

    1 small onion
    1 garlic clove
    1 veg oxo cube
    1 tin of tomatoes
    black pepper
    Sprig of fresh rosemary
Low fat fromage frais if you want

Fried off the onion and garlic in frylight, added a dash of boiled water and crumbled the oxo cube in, chopped up the rosemary and popped it in the pan, then the tomatoes and black pepper and left to cook for 15 minutes...you might need a little more water in too. Then I just blitzed it up, put it in a bowl with a heaped tsp of fromage frais and stirred...lovely, and still a portion for lunch tomorrow!

    Today have had:
B: Apricot Wheats (heB) with some milk allowance (heA) half a banana and a few blueberries.
L:Jacket potato with beans and cheese
D: Tomato and rosemary soup with 1 Slice wholemeal (heB), fat free activia.

Snacks: Tea with dash of milk, Grapes, Maltesers funsize.

If I fancy anything else tonight it'll be Apple/clementines and water.

Weigh in tomorrow morning...Hope i've lost more than 0.5lb so I can get below my pre christmas loss again, I've had a good week so fingers crossed!

ETA: I've just seen the M&S Valentines dine in for £20...and I want it all...including the naughty puds! oh well!

  • Wow Rob that's amazing, well done!

Puts my own modest 1lb loss in the shade a bit :) but given that I wasn't expecting any loss at all I'm delighted. Although a little bit worried that it might be because I was wearing different clothes (went straight from work). Anyway I am trying really hard to reaffirm all of the reasons I need and want to lose weight. In fact I might do a post sometime in the next day or two about it :)

How did everyone else get on?

PS I also just committed myself to giving up chocolate and sweets for lent :eek: anyone else giving anything up?

Yes you could swap the Quorn for mince and it would remain syn-free. I always drain off any remaining fat after dry-frying mince too - it may not be a lot but a tablespoonful has 6 syns

If you can't think how to get a HEA in, how about having a milky coffee in the evenings? I am passionate about people getting their calcium as my Mum has brittle bone disease and it really is awful. I have members who hate dairy food in general and I always advise having calcium tablets as a last resort - anything to get your daily dose :)

HEB's - well you can have tinned fruit (various amounts - let us know which you like and someone will look it up for you). You can also have some tinned soups (again, let us know if it's what you fancy and we can put up a list). And there are some cereal bars as well - 1 Hi-Fi (any variety), 1 Kelloggs Honey and Oat bar or 2 Alpen Light (any variety).

The best 'value' HEB in my opinion is Ryvita Wholemeal Crackerbread - you can have 6 for a HEB and if you want to use a HEA as well, you get 6 Laughing Cow extra light triangles which spread very nicely on the crackers. With some chopped tomato, onion and cucumber popped on top this makes a quite substantial and very yummy supper :D
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • Well done to those who've lost weight this week. Special congrats to Robpw2 for getting SOTW (despite the tiramisu, lol).
