Hi, I've been lurking on this thread since November when I joined SW.
A few weeks ago my teenage son also joined and we're struggling with breakfasts for him. All other meals and snacks are fine, he's not fussy at all and really doesn't have much weight to lose (already lost 4 1/2 pounds and probably only needs to lose 3-5 pounds more to move into the healthy weight for his height). He's only 13 so this is healthy eating not a diet but as a teenage boy he's always hungry!
I bought pudding rice (Asda's own) to make him Marion's rice this morning but the packet says to cook for 2 hours in oven so he ended up having something else.
Will it be OK to boil the rice just for 20 mins?
    Thanks, Lesley

Hi and welcome to the thread :)

The pudding rice cooks in about 20-30 mins in a pan on the hob, much quicker than in the oven.

Would he enjoy bacon and egg with mushrooms and tomatoes? It's very filling and should keep him going till lunch. You could perhaps make a breakfast quiche - whisk about 4 eggs and pour over the bacon, baked beans, chopped, cooked potatoes and cook the night before. This is lovely sliced and eaten cold.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

And if you soak the pudding rice overnight (thanks kiwichick ;) ) it cooks even quicker. I find this much more filling than a cooked breakfast.

Well I'm officially frustrated again, lol. I've reached that point that I struggled before - I seem to always get to 15st 3lb and my weight refuses to budge! I'm already doing slifast which did give me a boost, but it's stopped again and I don't know what to do - don't want to try Alli or anything mroe drastic. Will try to up the exercise starting this afternoon (car about to go in for an MOT - god help me) but not sure what else I can do!

Thanks! The quiche sounds good. We do hot breakfasts at weekends etc when there's more time, school mornings are the problem and his school doesn't break for lunch until 1:35pm so it's a long old morning. It actually might even be possible to prepare the quiche the night before (well boil potatoes at least) and cook in morning, if I'm organised!

Make the whole quiche the night before & serve with baked beans in the morning (if on EE!) - the quiche is perfect to make and keep in the fridge whenever you want a slice so you don't need to make one fresh every morning!

I made the cottage cheese quiche with loads of peppers, spring onions and mushrooms in it. We took for lunch as part of a picnic down to Dumfries on Sat, it was lovely cold and we had the rest the next day.
The cottage cheese gave it a nice texture and thankfully it didnt really taste of cottage cheese once cooked.
Oh also loved it, which is saying something as he lovely all things with pastry, he said it was lovely without.

If they are just in water or brine then they should be free. cant see them online. Just check the back of the tin, if theres no oil or sugar in the process they should be free. ive never had them im afraid.
