Well it is if you aren't a massively brilliant cook...

I'm trying to learn to cook, but as I dont get home till late, also need things that are quick. Spent over £150 this week, only basic food and 1 bottle of wine in the trolley

like paul said we can fill the freezer for £40 from icelands and that would last at least 2 weeks but were getting used to eating fresh cooked from sctatch meals now they are more filling and healthier (apart from sausage spaghetti and chips we has for dinner :) ) ben wanted a not so healthy dinner for a change

    dried lentils
    potatoes
Dried broth mix booky will keep you nice and full.

Because there is just the 2 of us, I buy the bags of frozen casserole root veg for just over £1 and stick that in stuff to bulk it out, not sure if it saves any money but otherwise I end up with lots of half used veg. festering in the fridge if I've forgotten to chop it and freeze it. I also look out for the bags of fresh ready chopped cabbage and leek when it's reduced and freeze that and chuck handfuls in casseroles or use it in bubble and squeak.

He's just come downstairs actually - plonked himself on the sofa and said 'I had a bit of a strop in Natasha's room but I've tidied it up'.
