........any ideas about stripping tongue and grooved boarding so I can paint it?????
I would suggest a good sugar-soaping, then rubbing it down rather than stripping it. We tried that & it didn't work, so ended up taking all the T&G off ...DH will be replacing his pigeon aviary roof today...

Have just got back form taking DS2 to Ludlow - had to drive through a lot of flood water but I made it which is more than one unlucky motorist did!
The river here is looking dangerously high:eek: our town was one of the most severely flooded in the big floods a couple of years ago, I really hope we dont get it again as a lot of people just wouldn't recover again!
Have just had a jacket spud for lunch and am going to have a browse while I have a cuppa now xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Afternoon all,
Just poking my head round to say hello
Have been shopping with my Mum today. Managed to get myself some new trousers for work a size larger as I don't want to buy anything with the word maternity on it, but my current trousers are a mite uncomfortable!
Nothing else planned for today. Think I am going to pop upstairs for a power nap and wait for DH to get home.
Have a lovely day, hugs to those in need/want xxSometimes that mountain you've been climbing is just a grain of sand,

Afternoon all.
Not much OS going on today, as I'm in too much pain to do much
Had a phone call this morning to say we had won a short break to Scotland, which was nice, so just need to decide when we go, and keep fingers crossed that I will be ok
The snow has cleared, which is good news. It means the girls can start back to fencing again on Monday. They've also got a kick boxing try out next week. It's free for the first month, so if they don't like it, it hasn't cost anything.
I will be glad when we can get back to normal.
Hope everyone is having a good dayThere is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -

You're not the only one candygirl.
My girls think it is hilarious, because I let out a little scream if one comes near me:D:rotfl:

Argh! Hello all, those of you who read my post yesterday may be wondering why I'm posting (however I'm sure you all have much more important things to think about) as I'm supposed to be in Dublin.
Well. I woke up at 5.25am, got in the shower, got dressed, and made it to Gunnersbury for 6.09. Got to Victoria, met 2 of my friends I was travelling with. We were meeting a 4th at Gatwick. We made it to Gatwick, she was running late so we went through security and met her in the duty-free area. We had checked in online as we weren't checking any bags as we were only going for 1 night. Now, I was the only British citizen of us 4, I was travelling with 2 Americans and 1 Aussie, all of whom who have working visas. One of the Americans is married to a Brit and is able to apply for citizenship in 1.5 years, which she wants to do. We went through security, hung around and met the Aussie and then went to the gate. We went through passport control, then presented our boarding passes. There was no trouble with mine, or the person we'd been waiting for as she had had her visa checked and her boarding card stamped to that effect. However, my 2 American friends were unaware that they needed their visas checked, as they had flown in the EU with Easyjet and didn't have to go through this process so assumed that Ryanair would be the same... But it wasn't. So to cut a long story short, they didn't make the flight, we didn't want to go without them as one of them was the person who booked the hostel and they were the ones who had been before, us 2 hadn't. So we both refused to fly without them just in case and it's actually a good job we didn't get on the plane, we were told that we would have to pay a minimal fee to transfer, that turned out to be £100 each! There were another 4 people that were unaware of this procedure and so could not board the plane, who DID pay the £100 each. So Ryanair made £400 just on our flight, if we had all paid they would have made nearly £1000 for nothing!! Apparently, according to airport staff, this is a very common occurrence with Ryanair flights and happens because Ryanair cannot be bothered to update their computer systems to note that Australians and Americans don't require their visas to be checked if they're travelling within the EU (or something) which is why you don't have to do it if you're travelling with Easyjet or seemingly any other airline. You'd have thought that with all the money they make from people who are confused by the process they'd be able to afford to do it, but I reckon they don't because of all the extra money they make...
I hope everyone has a lovely weekend though, I'm really mad!**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

jayward my DD and Oh went to see Stephen K Amos before Christmas and said he was brilliant I hope you enjoy it as well
Penpin Sorry to hear your troubles with FIL, but well done to DD for her interview.
I have just returned from the cinema with DGS Ben,well the movie was very good if a little dark. The young boy was excellent in it, and deserves an Oscar for his performance. In fact the film, although a sad subject was very well shot and written. We both enjoy thought-provoking films.
Ben is 14 and at that age is very interested in the whys and wherefors of things.I reccommended him to read 'On the Beach' by Nevile Shute that I read when I was his age.
I'm just off to sort out dinner for tonight,I think it will be steak and mash and onion gravy, followed by fruit and ice cream.
Hope everyone is having a good week-end
Cheers JackieO xx0
