    Morning all,

Pouring with rain here , still we have loads to do in the house, I love it here, village life seems to suit us.

Moving day went really well, we were all packed up and ready to leave by 11, the blokes went ahead to the new house to clear the snow from the drive, leaving dd my sis, and I at the old house, doing the last bit of cleaning etc, we got the phone call to say we could collect the keys, went out to the truck, which had all the big furniture in, and could not move it, we were snowed in , cue a load of neighbours trying to get us out, gravel etc under the wheels, nothing, it took us two hours to move the bloody thing, meanwhile the new owners had turned up, and could not start to unload as we were blocking the drive :rotfl:and we had tried to dig the truck out and had made a huge hole in the grass :o, we did fill it up.

Arrive at the new house with me swearing all the way in that ******* truck , and it was filthy, and I mean filthy, I could have cried, I have spent 4 days cleaning 4 rooms, the kitchen took me 8 hours, just caked on mud and grease, there was no woman living here, and it showed , my worst moment was the downstairs loo _pale_ and finding the loo brush caked in poo :o.

There is loads to do, i need to tackle the up stairs rooms, and then start decorating, but its lovely, and we are all very happy, I will try and put some photos on my FB later on but I am like this :D:T:j:beer:

JC I love your kitchen, its really beautiful.

    Dizzybuff, Chin up love xx

Have good days all, Its good to be back :D

Off to take down the bathroom blind, which smells of wee _pale_ and has funny stains on

Glad you got moved ok redruby. A friend of mine moved once and rang me when she got to her new house crying because of the state of it - went round armed with cleaning stuff and it took us all day just to get the grease out of the kitchen and the cat hair off the carpets! Whenever I move I always make sure the house I'm leaving is sparkling as it took her ages to settle in because of how she felt when she got there.

  • Hi Chums, just a bit of tidying up to do this morning, then have a look to see what I can feed my DGS Ben with when he comes round at 11.00 then we are off to the cinema for a couple of hours to see 'The Road'.
Tonight I will sort out the ironing, as I have a small wash on at the moment .
Tomorrow I am definitely going to de-clutter my craft stuff it seems to have 'grown' over the past few years, and every time I go to a craft fair I say to myself I won't buy anything but I always do.Bring it home, uses it a few times, then stashs it in the spare room.
I also have to make a start on my next essay for Uni.It's about the famine in Ireland in the 19th century, and why the British Government didn't do anything much to help.No difference there then, times don't change much.
I have until February half term to get 3,000 words out, and at the moment my mind is blank(no difference there then :))So I will have to trundle of to the Uni library and dig out some books to read on Monday or Tuesday.I will drag my pal along, another mind might help get the creative juices flowing.;)
Hope everyone has a good day and enjoys their week-end
    Cheers Chums xx

    Hello everyone,

    Hugs for Dizzybuff
Love the kitchen jc - deeply envious. One day I will have cupboards and worktops, I have been saying that for three years now. This house is a work in progress so I have a pantry, a kitchen table and a 1950s sink unit.
Diva - I like the ginger idea for the twinks. Will try that later.
N9eav - I spend January and February planning things for the garden. they don't happen but I enjoy the planning.
Csarina - I hope you got some sleep eventually!
redruby - huge hugs for you too. Have you thought about joining us on Flylady?

Need to get some mince out of the freezer for dinner - I think it is the last lot and we have no sausages left. Trip to the butchers some time this week I think.

I meant to say the M&S chickens were excellent so thanks for suggesting those. I will have a look out for the lamb etc next week.

Oh dear Redruby, that reminds me of when we moved in here!!! I had to scrape the grease off the top of the kitchen cupboards with a paint scrapper and used almost a packet of sugar soap washing down. I thought the shower screen was frosted till I sprayed it with vinegar and I realised it was soap scum.

The landlord of our new house has said the house will be cleaned and the carpets shampooed before we move in. I told her not to do the one in the bathroom, we will take it up and put vinyl down, cue them saying they would pay for it!!

The kitchen is much smaller than here, but larger than the one in the apartment, which if you remember was diddy. I have to arrange some more cupboard space, wavering towards open shelving on one wall at least, we have the brackets etc here but will have to buy new wood for the shelves. Will probably get DS2 to buy it from Wickes for us and bring it up. The wall is longer than the wood we have on the brackets now, might need another upright and 3 or 4 extra brackets.

I look forward to seeing your pictures.

Csarina, glad things are looking good with the move.
MSD I could eat breakfasts all day, it's my favourite meal.
N9eav, I cook bacon egg mushrooms & toast for hubby every morning & sausage as well at the weekend.
Dizzybuff, hugs, hope Occ Health can help.
    JC, Lovely kitchen.
Redruby, glad the move went reasonably well, blinds smelling of wee? The mind boggles.
I had a lie in this morning, but not had any milk delivered, so I need to get dressed & go & get some. I had poached egg on toast for breakfast & tea last night, I'll turn into an egg one day.
It's raining heavily here & that, combined with the bin men finally making it through means my road is finally clear.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

My old house was sparkling too, in fact the lady who moved in phoned me to thank me for leaving it so clean. she was unpacked and tidy in one day , I will get there with the cleaning, Once everything has had a good clean, I will be able to get back in my routine, its just horrible living with someone elses muck
  • Morning Guys!

It's tough here atm. FIL is dying and very distressing for OH and all other siblings, grandkids etc. Just dont want him to suffer and he is ready to go.

Proud mum moment....DD applied for her work experiance last August and she has been shortlisted from over 2000 applicants for an interview next month:j:j:j:j.....fingers crossed!

    Twink-Thanks for your lovely letter:A

My health is still poor. My new mattress came and its pretty good. They have given a spray for the bed sores and it seems to have helped. I havent been out but feel quite down with everything going on. I am lucky that I have a good husband and great DD. There is always someone in a worse situation and we should be grateful for what we do have rather than what we dont.

OH has managed to get some super bargains going shopping later in evening. Havent spent much at all these past 2 weeks!

Will give you a laugh. 2 nights ago my leg muscles kept going into painful spasms, so OH offered to massage them. We were upstairs and found a tub of Body shop cocoa butter, so he used that and used the excess for his face as his nose is dry where he has had a cold. Anyway, next morning we realised that the cream was a glitter one but he had already been out to the shops:eek::eek::eek::eek::rotfl::rotfl:....I have had 2 showers and the glitter wont go:o

WM has been on and in TD. DW has been emptied by DD. Stairs hoovered and everywhere polished. Cleaner not been for 2 weeks due to the weather but we have managed.

    Anyway, hope everyone is well.

We also had dog pee on the carpets:eek::eek:, no chouce except to scrub them, thankfully I got them out and they passed the 'sniff' test:D:D.

The chap who lived here was a bad DIYer the things we have found since we moved in. The new house needs some TLC but its cosmetic..........think the paint stripper and scrapper are going to be in evidence quite a bit this year........any ideas about stripping tongue and grooved boarding so I can paint it?????

I'm just enjoying a wine atm. It's a really still night again tonight. I've been printing out vouchers etc for meal deals in the UK. :D DD came upstairs while I was doing it and I got the  look. :p Well off to look for more bargains. :D Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
