Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Friday 15th January. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Morning all, up at silly o'clock, cannot sleep,:mad: so have made myself a mug of tea.......so much going round in my head just now.
Children are all in the know, all ok so thats a weight off my mind....planning to visit for holidays.......
OH has started the packing, at last we are getting rid of all the bowling stuff, its all going on Monday.......hooray:T:T
I will have to watch him otherwise I might find he has packed me in a box.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Tomorrow we are meeting a chap at the allotment, he wants to take over our plot, hoping he will buy the shed composters and water barrels......we want to take one composter and a barrel with us. I also need to move two containers, one has a honeysuckle in the other a climbing rose. I will take the secateurs and cut them back a bit so I can get them in the car. We also need to bring all the bean sticks etc down and put them in the garage. OH has some wood he was going to use for raised beds, that will find its way home too.
OH enjoyed his scotch pie last night, tonight we are having gammon and salad. I have some sliced gammon in the freezer, I need to empty the fridge freezer so we will be having some wild and winderful meals over the next few weeks. No shopping except for fruit until after we have moved.

Tired mum -
Lamewolf - I often have two breakfasts... one at silly o'clock when I get up and then when my OH has his around 0700 I often have another.. So I guess I am more hobbity than I thought (except I have smaller feet, and a lot less hair on my toes!)
Tristan seems to be doing fine. He is a bit down but has to see his specialist next Tuesday to see if they think he is strong enough for treatment. Or if he wants it, which is isn't sure about. I have had no news from Pams corner which I hope is good news. I tried to ring twice but no answer. My OH drove all the way to our nearest Asda last night to get some catfood that was on offer and there wasn't so much as a sachet on the shelves... He was not best pleased.:rotfl:Lunch today will be welsh rarebit and dinner, the HM sausage rolls that I have taken out of the freezer unbaked, together with mash and baked beans. Branston beans were 50p a tin in Tescos or 4 for 89p! Very strange pricing.I hope today is the best it can be for everyone and that you all stay warm and safe. With love, light andto all.
Diva.xTo be frugal, you need to spend money wisely, simply spending less is not enough. If you can't handle me at my worst then you don't deserve me at my best...Courage doesn't always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I will try again tomorrow.0 -
Morning.
Chucking it down with rain here and very wet and horrible. Seems to be causing damp in my lounge, so the gable end I was going to re-plaster last year and the year before etc, will be done this year! Hope it' a dry summer?
Work soon, so nothing much planned for today. Nothing much else to report....sort of dull is'nt it?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning
Haven't been on here for a few days, although I've been trying to read.
OH has developed cabin fever through not working for four weeks. He took early retirement a few years ago but still works part time, but due to the weather and Xmas (company closes for 2 weeks) has been keeping me company. Even Dave on TV has started to lose its appeal. But now the ice is thawing (it was +5 here yesterday), he will be back at work Monday:j
Yesterday I did some retail therapy (purely to give us a bit of space, you understand). Went to MrT's. No whoopies but Hot Cross buns and bagels on BOGOF. Christmas smoked salmon in freezer, so cream cheese and s/salmon bagels for us today.
Watched Come Dine with Me last night, what a sad end to the programme. The guy hosting died of cancer a few months after the programme was made, (he didn't know he had it). Puts things into perspective, doesn't it?
((((hugs)))) to anyone in want or need of them as usual0 -
Morning everyone,
We stayed at DD's last night. Packed her all up and moved her over here today. So glad I don't have to do the unpacking. She & DH went and took the truck back at 2pm while I stayed home and had a nap.It was so hot in her unit and I didn't sleep well either. Not use to noise anymore. Cars, doors shutting, traffic. It was the reverse when we first moved here. The quiet was weird. We lived on a busy road before.
Just having some tortellini for tea tonight and other freezer surprises. Off to read yesterday's thread. Hope you all have a lovely weekend. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Good Morning All. Couldn't sleep, despite a late night, so have been tackling the ironing mountain. Stopped now because I have no more room to hang anything in the airing cupboard! Still, all is now contained within the basket as opposed to overflowing everywhere!
Not too much OS here - DH off to a conference this w/e, so I'm going to London today to spend time with DS and family. Birthday tomorrow will be very quiet, but hopefully DH will be back in time to eat out at our local Chinese.
Need to buy Seville oranges for marmalade, but will be missing the market today - Waitrose have them, but at a silly price. Would still make the marmalade much cheaper than buying tho'. maybe the Tuesday market will have them.
Oh well, need to get a move on. Have to travel up to Cambridge first as our line is having work done - and I really can't face a "train" journey almost wholly by bus!
Anyway, hope you all have a good day. Take care.Resolution:

(((Dizzybuff))) - Perhaps you should try and make a doctors appointment. Hope things improve.
Glad Tris is ok at the moment MSD.
N9eav - I find January & February very dull months. Seems about just getting though them till Spring starts.
Had a small lie in this morning but still feel very tired. Will get going in a minute and hopefully the energy levels will rise. DS is at a sleepover so will have the house to myself for a couple more hours and DD doesnt rise early at the weekends

Morning All
Finally that week is over :j Kitchen is almost done - they have to come back on Monday to grout the tiles and paint the ceiling and then we'll have to paint the walls but it looks lovely and the oven/washer etc is back in place as is the table. Came in from work and DH & DS1 had even put everything back in the cupboards
So today I have to do a meal plan (:j) and shopping list, 3 MS jobs which should take me a couple of hours tops and then go shopping and then i'm going to get the slow cookers on and the bread maker and the coffee pot and the washer and the oven and EVERYTHING!! Not very OS but I have missed using stuff!
Might see if I can post a little pic later if that would be ok?
Have a good day
PIC - I hope !

Good Morning OSers!
Thanks to those who reminded me to rest yesterday, I did fit on some sofa surfing too!!;)
Didn't get any baking, except for the sausage rolls, done yesterday so will catch that up tonight. Off to work shortly, so not much else will be done today. Little DS has a friend staying over tonight -it's really me doing some babysitting as his parents are off out - so it will be Chilli for tea, as that the vsistors favourite, I'm slowly turning him vegetarianHe says it's the best chilli ever!!
I don't usually have so little to say for myself, hope you are all well, and the poorlies are getting better, and all the exam results are satisfying.
Actually, can anyone explain why they have exam results now? Up here we only have the one set, after Easter, although they do have prelims/mock exams in winter, but they are not official scores. T English education system is completely alien to me! (We only have one intake, too, in August.)
HAve a fab day everyone, "see" you tonight!
