Kaz, am seriously impressed with what you're getting done. What are you doing with " what once was the lawn"! You've got me intrigued!!
I know virtual hugs aren't quite the same but have a big one anyway
I've still not had anything that even approximates to rain!! I'm sorry but a couple of minutes of huge drops are worse than useless!!
Love your description of your "tan":rotfl: Just brazen it out, tell everyone it's a style statement, and then look enigmatic. That'll confuse 'em!
Ivyleaf, that toe sounds very painful, but I know you're right. They do only strap it to the next one. Bet it'll bruise a lot!!
Catowen, glad the hoover finally arrived! But doesn't it make you sick that you've stayed in all day? And you just know that if you dared to go out for half an hour they'll turn up and pop the card through your letterbox!!
Oh well could be worse, that late and I'd be thinking the beggers weren't going to deliver!! And thanks for the info on the stairs. I still don't fancy testing it out myself!!:rotfl: I take it you will revert to the hoover for them as well:D
Sorry have now forgotten everybody elses posts, but I did read them:D This has just taken sooo long, I'm such a rubbish typist and kept getting distracted.:o
Have a good evening!!! CMx

Evening Guys
Just about to head off to bed as not feeling too great:rolleyes: Have a hospital visit in the morning and SIL here, plus have to finish my essay (which I cant seem to get my head around) and still complete my DLA forms. Plus get 3 parcels off...one picked up by courier:eek: ....and lots of other smal bits...im knackered just thinking about it.
Have HM yogurts already to go for the morning as we received the one from Tchico the other day and want to see how it turns out. Will let you know in the morning:D
DD & I had a good chat today and she was telling me how she feels etc about going to big school. Shes a good girl...normally...lol, but she seems happier now she has a few things off her chest.
Anyway, Im off to bed and book this courier up for tomorrow.
See you all in the morning.

Hi Churchmouse, thanks for the hug x. As for the 'was once a lawn' refers to an area approx 30+ square meters that has 'claimed' to be a lawn by having some grass growing - but mostly patches of mud and debris.
Some years ago we attempted to 'resce' it and set to clearing some of the rubbish that was there. appart from the usual garden thing we found burried (eg sand pit and paddling pool) we also found lino flooring, road signs and posts.
All that hard work simply revealed very uneven and compacted muck. Although grass struggles to grow properly the weeds - especially some reed tlike things that the mower can't tackle - seem to do well. Even the slightest bit of rain turns it to a complete slimey mud bath, and in the sun it's hard like concrete!
I've just been back out to do another hour of it and despite the dry spell we've had it's allready boggy! At least it made the digging easier - but you should've seen me slipping around in it!
So, in brief (lol, me, brief?!!!) the plan is to cover with bark for now and then dig that in in about 2 years time. I'm diggin it over now so that I can level it and get rid of any other rubbish that is still buried (allready found several toys, bits of hose pipe and many bags!!! - thankfully no bodies as yet.. which reminds me, silent witness is abut to begin. G'night all! x

There's always tomorrow!!:D
I've just finished watching "the Rabbit-Proof Fence". God I don't think I've wept so much for years!! I've been on google trying to find out more, I can't believe man's inhumanity to man. It makes you so ashamed of your fellow man, for whatever so called "lofty" reason he did what he did. Sorry this is not the time or the place I must go to Amazon to order the book, but I just can't stop crying. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Was in the office at 8:30 this morning and didn't get out until 7:30 - even forgot to have lunch
- can't wait til I'm in Zone 2 and a late night at the office will be quicker to get home from!
Shez wrote:bargainrzl - whats next step with your flat?
So far I've only had a verbal offer over the phone. Next step is, I'm waiting for the paperwork (something saying "Do you take this property to be your lawful wedded flat") which I assume will be on my doorstep tomorrow or Wed, if not I'll phone to find out where it's got to. I have to return this within 7 days. The other thing I need to do is work out how much of it I can afford to buy - minimum is 40% but I'm considering 50% - I've asked about this on the Homebuying board (basically I've worke out a budget to fit my resources, but in truth there are a LOT of areas which could be cut back, so it's really a question of which I trust more, relative stability in interest rates or a crash in the market!) I hope to see my mortgage advisor again within a couple of days - he's seen my SOA so might have some views.
IF I can exchange within 6 weeks of submitting my formal acceptance I get a £2k incentive - presumably taxed, so will end up with £1.6k - so will be champing at the bit with solicitors (who I haven't finalised yet) and mortgage lenders, to get everything wrapped up ... the extra money would cover the purchase of my appliances and furnishings (appliances is the main thing - I've got most furniture already as I've lived in unfurnished accommodation before, but I do need a sofa!) There's one ideal week which would be the perfect time to move - the week commencing 23rd September - which falls after the Proms, just after 2 big work deadlines, and before having to write a whole weekend off in order to go to a wedding
As you'll see, I've updated my signature to reflect the current situation...

BTW, Churchmouse, whereabouts in Eltham do you live? My current housemate owns and runs the second-hand classical record shop on the approach to New Eltham station.

No further back than that, on the progress estate. You know the one built at the start of World War 1 for the munition workers at the Royal Arsenal.
Where is the shop, on the Co-op side or actually on the station approach? You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
