Hurrah, mind now at rest!
I used to work for ICI (now Astra Zeneca) in Huddersfield. Lived in Slaithwaite (pronounced Slough-it :rotfl: :rotfl: which is also funny, as I used to live near Slough, too) with views of the hills. Moved to the East Yorkshire flatlands with hubbie, who works in Hull.
Is Johnni€'s still there? That was my Friday after work hang out.
Will wave when I next go past!

Afternoon All,
Still stinking hot here - havent even been out to hang out the washing as I'll need another shower afterwards
I keep reading about pukka pads/books - what the heck are these. I've been away for too long.
In the first of the MSE "Getting Back On Track Tasks" I have just switched my gas and leccy through :money: tips and will be saving £128 per year and getting £15 cashback. Plus, through going dual fuel and paying monthly dd I get an annual £60 discount shown in arrears on my last bill for each 12 month period. Feels good too be starting something.
I am trying to be a bit more environmentally consious too so have asked for "Green Electricity", have begun receiving a weekly organic veg box (all grown locally) and have 2 ENORMOUS compost bins in the garden. I've even bought worms (damned expensive initially but am hoping it will save me money in the long run by feeding our 4 huge veg plots next year). Nels laughed at me when I said I'd lied to dh about how much the worms cost:o
. I am hoping to grow nearly all the veg we need and cant wait to start but the ground needs a lot of prep first and some raised beds seem to be the order of the day too as the soil here is clay and dry. Might have an ask around to see if anyone has any old sleepers or scaffoldling planks for the sides.
Aussielass - I really hope the docs manage to find out whats wrong with ds soon. Sounds stressful and worrying.
Rzl - Fingers (and toes) are crossed for this evenings viewings.
Gotta go check the biccies in the oven (see, even back to hm food {thanks god}).
Catcha later,

Really glad the welshcakes were a success Churchmouse. The first few always have to be tested - and as you're only 'testing' then they don't cause any weight gain.... After the first few of every batch you get the hang of it again - but I'm sure that the 'hard work' involved in cooking them burns far more calories than they contain

Twink - ta, will read up on blackcurrants and maybe give it a go.
Bargain Rzl - less than half hour to go now, so you're probably on your way. Ooo I've got butterflies for you!
Rchddap - Reading your post about your OH and the baby moving gave me lovely goosebumps. It's a reall special time. Just wait until you see bean do a roll when you're in the bath! I loved it so much I used to dream that when I gave birth I'd be crying for the babe to be put back!!!
Moggins - I think if you'd let that tent go at that price you'd have regretted it no end. It's a fantastic buy, ENJOY!
Today was my last full day before the boys are on school hols so made the most by going 'round shops they hate. Saved over £3 by filling up on petrol at another Tesco - 6p per litre cheaper than our Tesco! Died of shock/horror when I treated DS3 to a Burger King burger. I'd forgotten how expensive it is there. The next bit will make your skin crawl....
As we are sat eating the burger I notice the wall a table or two behind DS and along the 'dado rail' I notice some movement..... an ant...., no, two......actually more than half dozen , all wandering back an forth the dado rail and up over the door frame.
Next thing it's got me itching, but I tell myself not to overreact - they're a good distance away..... and as I tidy away our tray I notice that some have actually walked over to the wall next to us.... yuk! They must have smelt the food as when I first spotted the others there were none next to us.
Anyway, I tried to be discreet when I went to let the staff know - but they already knew and weren't at all bothered. Am I overreacting or does anyone else think that it's a bit grose? I know you get things like that at picnics but you are aware of it and tend to keep an eye out. The people who went and sat behind where we were had their food on the table and were busy chatting - can you imagine looking down and seeing ants on your food!
DS2 has another 'gig' tonight so I'd best crack on with dinner. Hope to catch up with everyone later,
Kaz x
Ps Guess who bought a Puka pad today....
Ok, not for me but for DS - but I still got to have one, kind of

Bet you all want to know how it went with the flat

Well, I thought it went VERY well actually :j :j :j
Basically I got there and it was a group viewing but I was one of the first 2 people to get there. There were 3 flats still unsold, so I looked at all three.
Flat 1 (first floor) was lovely - nicely finished bathroom, living room with open plan fitted kitchen (ceramic hob and electric oven though - boo - but you can't have everything!), not huge but decent sized bedroom, nice long hallway so room for bookcases etc. Both the bedroom and living room face onto the rear car park and get no street noise and no boiling hot afternoon sun (north-east facing).
Saw Flat 8 next (second floor) and dismissed it straight away - feels small and boxy, faces the other way (which besides the noise and sun, has a big disadvantage because the ground floor of the front of the block is built over what is going to become shop units) and I just knew I couldn't live there.
Flat 6 (second floor, immediately above Flat 1) was identical to Flat 1 in its layout, with one exception - the living room of Flat 1 has French windows and a Juliette balcony, which gave a better "feel" to the space. Flat 6 just has a window there. Flat 1 is also slightly cheaper, I assume because it's not on the top floor.
Sooooooooo as the agent had said that applications would be processed in order of receipt, and the application form said that filling it in did not constitute an obligation to buy, I got back to the show flat before all the other viewers and filled in an application on the spot - 1st choice Flat 1, 2nd choice Flat 6. Thus putting myself first in the queue
THEN I asked all my other questions
Sooo if my application goes through smoothly, I'm first in line - so I bl**dy well hope it does!
Got to fax off copies of my ID tomorrow morning, then we shall wait and see - the literature says the HA will contact you with an offer within 2 weeks, but as some have already been sold from LAST THURSDAY's viewings, I would expect to hear quicker.
Keep those fingers crossed

I am so pleased that it looks as if things may work out for you with the flat, did you manage to get any piccy's??????? It sounds like flat 1 would suit you down to the ground.
I will keep my fingers crossed that you get a positive result, if you get it when will you move and do we all get an invite to the house warming?????Its a bit early for  but I guess we can have a little :j :j :j rock on RZL.
