twink wrote:penelope penguin - i will think of you when i am eating the blackcurrants:p
have you not tried to grow them? they are really easy, just get a few cuttings and stick them in the ground, one is bound to take, mine more or less grow wild outside the garden next to the field
Hi, Twink. I used to grow blackcurrants in my previous garden, but not here. I go to York to a PYO farm and get some. Thanks for the tip about cuttings. Might try that. Hope that this year will be the one when we get the fruit garden planted.
Good news is that the morello cherry tree that we planted 2 years ago, has a huge crop. We've frozen some, but I've found a jam recipe on the internet, so will freeze a quantity for using when I'm back from holiday.
We also have loads of plums, golden plums, damsons, apples, pears, so not bad! I think it's because we had a late spring, so the flowers weren't well enough developed to be hit by late frost.

DH drove me to LIDL yesterday so the fridge is full of food and my family can help themselves to cooked chicken and salad today as I will be with DD in hospital as she is having sinus surgery.
Went to see my dad and he has been moved into a lovely private room which gave us all a surprise. He seems no worse so do not want to jump to any conclusions about the move. DD (12) was fascinated by the rabbits and squirrels that she could see in the field.

Manicdays - Glad you liked the concert.
Ajax - when we have guests stay over they either sleep on the sofa or we give them sleeping bags, spare blankets and the floor :rotfl:
PP - glad you had a better nights sleep last night. Enjoy your DD's performance, and "break a leg" to her for the show
Aussielass - hope your YS gets better soon.
Twink - it would be even nicer to get the jobs done before the heat hits but it's already sweltering hot at 20c as there is no breeze today.
Overbudget - welcome to OS
Catzine - hope DD's op goes okay and she gets well again fast :grouphug:
Elona - Hope your DD's surgery goes okay as well & she makes a speedy recovery :grouphug:
Right, now I've sat and eaten my bacon sub, caramel doughnut  and I'm working on my frozen bottle of water (much to hot and thirsty to wait for the kettle to boil to make a cup of tea) I should really get on. I sprayed the bathroom before I left for school so I'm going to go do that room first. Laters :wave:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0 -

RZL - hope all goes well with the viewing, lets us know asap won't you we will all be sitting on tenderhooks waiting.........
Off for a coffee and get my rear into gear....... have a good day..........

Morning all,
Last day today before hols!!! Am rather tired and bad tempered particularly as my fan has been pinched and I am a tad warm. Can feel an early finish beckoning (flexi time is so useful).
Is a weeny bit cooler here but the sun is still shining brightly. DD's last day in nursery today, she's very excited about her "little party" this afternoon. Then it's big school in September, can't believe it but she is so ready for it. Plus no more childcare!! It's like having a whopping pay rise!!!
DS finishes tomorrow at 12, wish it was today as we have a lovely morning of pottering, cleaning and packing planned and feel bad he won't be with us particularly as he is so tired.
Will probably be my last post before hols as we leave at midnight tomorrow, so luck to all who need it (Rzl), wishing you better to those others that need it (Scuzz, AussieLass DS) and finally welcome to the newbie!!
See you in two weeks!!!
