Evening guys!!
Nicki-Sure SIL will come round and help you out-its £7ph though-even for family!
Hospital visit went crap and Im so fed up with it all. The clot is still there and the main vein/artry(sp) (cant remember which) is only running 50% blood through at a time and theres nothing they can do. I really dont understand thisIve been on Warfarin for a year now and I keep getting new cloths but in the same leg. Consultant said it could be the Lupus but I asked, surely then it would be on both legs and not always the same one??? Hopefully, I will get more joy from another consultant im seeing on Monday at kings.
Sorry its so depressing but feeling really fed up!
Hope everyone else had a better day.
Hugs to all.
PP

Ingredients
225g S/R flour
Spices of choice (I like a bit of each of clove, cinamon and nutmeg - mostly the cinamon!)
110 butter (pref welsh salted)
1 egg
good handfull of sultanas (or omit then split & spread with jam when cooked)
85g caster sugar
Possible a little milk.
Extra butter for greasing
Rub fat into the flour + spices to make fine breadcrumbs. Mix in sugar and dried fruit then add beaten egg. mix to combine - should form a ball of 'dough'. If too dry to do this add a TINY bit of milk - a little can make a big difference so be sure you've mixed well before adding more.
Flour a clean surface and roll out dough untill about 1/2cm thick. Cut into rounds about 3 - 4 inches (fluted cutter is best or use a cup)
Lightly grease your Llechwen (welsh griddlestone- okay, any bakestone/griddlestone will do) with butter. Place on heat - when hot begin 'griddling' your welshcakes.
They take about 2/3 minutes each side to become caramel colour, but I like mine a deep brown.... honest - they're not burntI also like to lightly press mine to judge how mell done they are in the center. Very squidgy = not done, a little squidgy tends to be just right as they continue cooking while cooling (if they last that long!)
Pop them on a wire rack to cool and sprinkle with caster sugar.
These are lush on their own and are a great 'picnic' treat - but my absolute fav way to enjoy is with a cuppa tea and some clotted cream to top. MUCH better than scones any day!
Kaz
Ps re reading this it seems complicated, but it's cause I've tried to give tips too. Basically it's- Flour, spices and butter into breadcrumbs,
- Sugar,fruit & egg into mix
- Roll out
- Cut out
- Cook
- Enjoy.

Snowy I hope you have found your kitty?
Kaz that sound lovely but where do I get a griddle from?
I am off for an early night tonight, DH has gone to work again and I am already yawning my head off. 3 more days and I can have a lie inIt's just too hot to do anything and I hope this weather breaks soon.
I'm not very happy with Kenwood at the moment, although I have had my smoothie maker for about a year I have only used it 6 times (all within the last 2 months and today it gave up the ghost on me just as I was enjoying having smoothiesI tried the blender but it's just not the same. I don't think DH will let me buy another to replace it either as he keeps saying I have too many kitchen gadgets. He has too many DVD's but he still keeps buying them!
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Penny - Sending you a great big hug - must've been typing my post when you posted yours. You must be totally and utterly cheesed off hun. Wish there was something I could do to cheer you up - but doubt there;s much anyone can say or do tonight. Thinking of you ,
Kaz x
Ps Moggins - mine is a bit like this http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8611075.htm
It needs a 'flat' side to do the welsh cakes. My nan reckons you could use a heavy fry pan ? I got my griddlestone from an ironmongers after years of hunting!
Oh the joys of the internet - and now I've foudn the 'perfect' one http://www.decuisine.co.uk/cookshop/bakeware/heavy-duty-griddle.html?ref=GABK09

Had a feeling things hadn't gone well when I realised you hadn't posted since the hospital.
It's all highs and lows for you at the moment, hun. Hope you get back to some plain old "middle ground" soon. Take care, CM xxYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
(((((HUGS))))) Penny Pincher!
Snowy - Keeping my fingers crossed that your Ted turns up soon! Our old tom cat used to do a disappearing act too but he always returned when he got hungry! ((((Hugs)))
Too hot today and it seems it will be even hotter tomorrow, 37 degrees!
I am going to have to try the frozen water bottle.
Well dd's op has been postponed until Thursday due to an emergency so she now has an extra 24 hrs to get stressed unfortunately. But I guess the emergency is someone who is a lot worse off so can't complain. I have stocked up on lots of fruit suitable for smoothies and milk for milkshakes and some jellies so she will have something to eat while her mouth recovers.
Kaz - Thank you for posting the recipe for welshcakes I look forward to trying it out when the weather cools down a bit. I have a scottish griddle that I use for scotch pancakes so will use that. The bootsales were at Stormy Down and the prices were much cheaper than here in the southeast!
Moggins - My Mum used to use a heavy based frying pan before she got her griddle so you could try that.
Ivyleaf - Wales was lovely as always, it was so nice to be somewhere peaceful - swallows everywhere and rabbits, hares, robins, butterflies etc., also good to spend some time with my big sister. I try to go over at least once a year to see her.
Joanne - congratulations! Only good things from now on! So pleased for you!
Shez - Rest assured you are not forgotten and are still on the team! Lucky you in an air conditioned office, must be rotten on the trains though! Wales is well worth a visit, lovely beaches!
Bargain Rzl - Keeping my fingers crossed for you re the flat!
Off to find that cold bottle and a large fan now!
