SmashingBlouse...you're off for six weeks??? I am so jealous...
Tha advantage of being a School Receptionist0 -
Morning all,
Beautiful morning here and very warm already. Have hung out one load on the line, another in the WM.
Going back to work tomorrow so today is tying up all the loose ends for the funeral, catching up with the housework, although the house will be blitzed on sunday ready for monday, as we are having the wake here. Loads of ironing to do then hopefully chiiling later.
Hope the hospital goes ok PP
Hope Ted turns up soon Snowy0 -
Morning all
Good luck at the hospital PP.
Snowy - hope Ted arrives back safe and well.
Hugs to all those who didn't sleep well last night.
I suppose the advantage to bungalow living is that all the rooms stay cooler on the ground floor.
We went for a lovely swim last night, really helped to cool us all down, by the time we came out and had a walk along the harbour back to the car we were almost chilly.
Only the one little one here this morning - going just after lunch and he's on fine form digging in the sand pit that I've dragged right next to the back doors in the shade...we're going to wash all the sand toys in a bit - any excuse for a bucket of water eh!
DD1 is in the school show for the next 3 nights so lots of running around to drop her off and pick her up, she'll be shattered. DD2 is off on her school trip tomorrow - she'll be melting by the time she gets back - she's not good in the heat.
Must do the ironing this afternoon - I didn't get round to it yesterday and DH has no shirts he "wants" to wear. Dinner tonight will be something involving cold new potatoes as I did double lot last night, no salad stuff left and not going out to buy anything as I'm broke until Friday....might do a potato and vegetable cheesy bake and make a nice crusty loaf to go with it.
Hope you all have a great day."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
At w*** now, Ted is still AWOL. I went for a drive around the country lanes before I came here - not pleasant, did that with my Baba last year and found him that way. Luckily I did not find Ted on the road so that is a good sign. Wish I knew where he's got to though. AussieLass - I doubt if he's found a girlfriend, he hasn't got the equipment...
AussieLass - you're such a glamourous gran! You and I are around the same age, and I haven't even started a family yet, and there's you with a fabulously cute grandchild already. Hope your son recovers soon, sounds dreadful to have ended up in hospital.
Really, really, really want to go home, can hardly keep my peepers open...0 -
Morning all
Aussielass - DGS is so sweet! Hope DS is ok soon
PP - hope it all goes well today
Snowy - aren't cats a worry sometimes? Ours did a similar thing a couple of weeks ago, didn't come in at all for about 2 days, then strolls in looking for food as casually as you please - looking faintly indignant at me!
I have a day pretty much to myself today, as DS is helping at the mums & Tots group at church; they have a bouncy castle & teddy bears picnic, so he & some other young people are setting everything up & helping out. Personally I think they are hoping for a go on the bouncy castle when the toddlers aren't there...!!!
I have got lots to do here, one lot of washing is done & will go out shortly, D/w is finished, our bed is made, but DSs bed sheets want changing today. And more equally exciting things to do!
Oh, it's all good fun!
Have a good day!0 -
Morning all
- hot isn't it? ... Am sitting in my air conditioned office counting my blessings ... (Un?)Fortunately I only have a half day (going to a Prom I want to be near the front for, so have taken the afternoon off to sit in the queue in the sunshine (well, hopefully in the shade - I've gone rather pink after just 2 hours of queueing on Sunday!) ... I suspect I'll be working lateish tomorrow though as I'm really "taking the proverbial" with work this week (half day today, leaving early yesterday and Thursday, long appointment tomorrow lunchtime (mortgage broker)...) though I have explained the situation to my boss who is generally pretty understanding (unlike the previous one!) ... I am considering going to an opera tomorrow (they've sent me a special offer, £25 for the best seats that normally cost £100+ and the opera house is air conditioned
)... Still, they're forecasting 36 degrees in London tomorrow  ... I have got all the stuff I need for the mortgage broker - payslips, bank statements, passport, utility bill ... Think I might phone the housing association again and tell them how serious I am, that I'm planning on turning up to the viewing with finance sorted, etc - I'm petrified that the flats will all have gone before I get a look-in! ... Will be taking my cheque book along to the viewing so if it's right for me and they need a holding deposit I can sort it on the spot ... PP, I hope the hospital goes well and that you feel better later, it can't be good with such limited mobility in this weather ... Snowy, hope Ted's OK and comes back soon - p'raps he did a moonlight flit - there was a cat miaowing outside my bedroom window last night and it didn't sound like one of ours ... oops, nice understanding boss just crept up behind me while I was posting this message ... gotta go ... Rzl xx

Good morning all before and all to come!!
Aussielass your DGS is gorgeous, and I'm dead jealous of you!! My DGS is about a year or so older, drop dead gorgeous, but his nanny looks nothing like the slender young thing your's has!! :rotfl: I try the "i was a child bride" bit sometimes, you must have to say you were about twelve when you gave birth!! Hope your son is feeling better by now. IV's usually work quite quickly don't they?
Kazonline I so laughed at you with your tea! Mine all say mum can make a cup of tea last all morning. Yeah 'cos it keeps going back in the microwave for a reheat!! Not the one Im drinking now though!:D
Penny-Pincher!! Hope you have as good a day today at the hospital as yesterday became!! Hope you understand that! My brain is turning to mush in this heat. (that's my excuse until I start my brain is being frozen by this cold!!:o )
I'm so jealous your DH has to cut the grass. Mine has turned yellow/brown and just isn't growing!!
SnowyOwl Do hope your Ted has come home! He's behaving like a dirty stop-out teenager!! With my cats (don't have any now) they used to seem to be set, either stay at home or not, from tiny kitties really. Have mostly had females and have to say most have been relatively stay at home.
Well I've got a busy day ahead. Top-show tidy up only today 'cos I'm up to town for my son's (OK there is other students' work as well!:rotfl: ) graduation art exhibition! It's in a gallery just round the corner from the Ritz!! Shame you can't just walk in for tea there anymore! Now you have to book like a month or so ahead and last I heard it was £35 a head or something!
I have been once ( yep just the once ) when invited for my SIL birthday treat from her daughters! It was lovely, but really a total rip-off 'cos you can't eat anything like that value even when you haven't had lunch!:rotfl: We also made the mistake of forgetting to use the tea-strainer, well we're all teabag girls these days!! Talk about show yourselves up!
Anyway as mum always said this won't buy the baby a new bonnet, so I'll be off. Check in later.
Have a good day everyone and try to keep cool!!
Rzl I'm soo impressed with your preparation for the flat, you really deserve for it to work out!!You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
Morning all.........(((((((((HUGS))))))))0 to those who need them,
Good Luck PP at the hospital.............AL hope you son is better soon............
Not a bad nights sleep considering how hot it was, I had the fan on in the bedroom before we went to bed.... OH is cutting the grass....... I am on my way to Tesco for fruit..its too hot to brave the bus into the city and the market, I suffer very badly in the heat so try and keep out of it, buses are not my favoured form of transport at the best of times and especially not when its very hot!!!
Not much planned for today, I managed to do the bedrooms, stairs and living room yesterday, kitchen planned for tomorrow, so today will be a sewing day once I get back from the shopping......
See y'all later................

Morning all!
OMG it's so hot already!
Had to get up earlyish to make doctor's appointment, so when that was done I did last night's washing up while it was still relatively cool indoors. (It's not often I'm glad my kitchen faces North!) Don't think it'd be wise to try to do much else today - trying to think what on earth to make for dinner, don't want salad but it's too hot to want to cook.
P-P - hope you had good news at the hospital! Thinking of you.
Snowyowl - my cats used to disappear for 3 days at a time sometimes even though neutered, so try not to fret too much . Easier said than done, I know. (((HUGS))) Mine are elderly now, so they tend to stay near home. I'm quite glad, as the older one (16) has gone deaf.
Catznine - Welcome back! Glad you had a nice time. Wales is brilliant, isn't it! We haven't been there for several years now, but whenever we came back we used to be seriously grumpy because Bexleyheath seemed so grim (and noisy) in comparison. Best wishes to your DD for her op. She will be sore for a while, but it will be worth it in the end.
Talking of Wales, Kaz, I love Welshcakes too so will appreciate the recipe - don't think I'll be making any until it's cooled down a bit though!
Aussielass - your DGS looks a sweetie and his DGM looks a lovely lady! So sorry to hear about your DS, it must be very upsetting not being able to visit him, but it sounds as if he's in good hands. (((HUGS)))
Pooky - It does sound lovely being able to go for a swim in the sea in weather like this! We're taking our very pregnant DD2 to see her Grandma in Dover on Thursday (last chance before baby arrives) so maybe I should take my cossie! Mind you, I believe the hot weather is due to break on Thurs so perhaps my waterproof jacket would be a better idea. My DH complains that it always rains whenever we have to visit his mother(it doesn't really, just seems that way!):D
Ancasta - great to see you back! We've missed you on the Daily Thread. Hope the wedding plans are going smoothly (do they ever?!)
Curry Queen - Where are you? If you're reading this, best wishes and lots of (((((HUGS))))). You are missed!
Kiwichick- thought I'd say "Hi" in case you manage to read but find that your posts disappear! Glad you managed to get in to your new house in the end!
ChaMichelle - not long to go before you can have a well-deserved rest. Will your maternity leave start soon?
VickyA - you're a busy lady! Nice to sing "Jerusalem" at your wedding.
Hope everyone has a good day - try to keep cool! Don't forget the sunscreen when you go out!
