  • I think they are announcing the flights tomorrow. I just want to know now so I can start re-arranging my plans.
Hopefully they may come to an agreement before the strike date. Fingers crossed:)

British Airways is expected to announce which of its flights may be cancelled because of a strike planned by cabin crew for next weekend.

The announcement, expected on Monday afternoon, will allow hundreds of thousands of passengers to make informed choices about what alternative arrangements to make.

But BA is emphasising that it intends to operate the majority of its flights, about 70% overall. Most cancellations are likely to be domestic and short haul flights.

BA will also be operating at least 23 aircraft with replacement crews made up of other staff.

It might be easier to catch the coach, to avoid central London? I'm not sure of the timetable from Manchester, but worth a look.

I don't imagine there will be a second strike. You could explore the schedule for your route for the first strike and see if it's effected or not. If you are flying on a 777 from LHR then chances are you will not be effected.

    What is your route ?

I hope that you don't think this a silly question but why are the 777s more likely to fly?

It's not a silly question at all. It's to do with the volunteer cabin crew (the new ones), who were all trained on 777 aircraft. This allows BA to fly all of their 777 scheduled flights, while losing a significant number of the 747 flights. I believe new cabin crew can only serve on plans they were trained on, and the 777 is more straight forward as it doesn't have an upstairs cabin.

  • Hi Malkie76
I just wondered why you thought there wouldn't be a second strike?
I'm hoping against hope there won't be, were due to fly to Cyprus on the 28th with hard earned airmiles. I'm really cross that despite a promise from Unite not to strike over Easter, they have chosen the start of (our area at least) school holidays. We stand to lose our pre-paid apartment and a time limited companion ticket for airmiles.
