I too seem to have had some sort of accident that I am not aware of. The symptoms are similar to those reported by Voucherman, but I'm in line for £3450, so perhaps mine was a slightly more serious.
Good luck with the claims...0 -
I've had an offer of £3650 from 07864349899 and £3450 from 07542020863.
Just out of curiosity, has anybody been using price comparison websites for car insurance? I have renewed mine a few days ago and got the first on the day I was comparing.Debt as of 02/02/2012

I ordered some tickets for the Doctor Who experience from lastminute.com, but it would not let me complete the transaction unless I entered my mobile number. As I wanted the tickets (which were cheaper than ordering them direct from the website) I went ahead and entered my mobile number (I don't normally hand my mobile number out to anyone) and completed the transaction.
A few days later I received one of these messages on my mobile.....
"FREEMSG: Our records indicate you may be entitled to £3450 pounds for the accident you had. To apply free reply CLAIM to this message. To opt out text STOP", from number +447516309076.0 -
I recently recieved an unsolicited message from a service claiming I was owed money for an accident which itclaimed I had (I have not had any accidents)
I replied STOP "to opt out" and since then have been reciving at least one message a day- each time from a different number and offering a different service ("sexy chat", "free debt advice" ..)
I am already registered with TPS and don't make a habit of giving my number out.
Today I registered a complaint with PhonePayPlus as I belive that these are either all coming from one company or that replying "STOP" has now confimed that my mobile number is in use and may be being passed on to other companies.
Has anyone else had this problem or anything similar?0 -
You should not have replied as you have now confirmed your number.
You can report numbers that send unsolicited texts though. Somebody will be along soon and tell you how I would imagine.0 -
You should only reply STOP or STOP ALL if the text comes from a shortcode AND the instructions on phonepayplus tell you to do so.
Never reply to any other unsolicited texts, either forward them to your operators spam reporting number or raise a complaint with the Office of the Information Commissioner (especially those which come from a standard number)0 -

Ah
I hadn't realised that- I'm so in the habit of just replying stop it stupidly didn't occur to me that messages from numbers which aren't short codes are different.
I'd already replied STOP before i reported to phonepayplus, do you think there's anthing that can be done? or am I going to be hounded forever now?:(
I've had this same number for over 10 years:(0 -
You could try registering with the Telephone Preference Service http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/what/ it's free and it works. I'm not sure if it covers spam texts or not but you can register your mobiles and home numbers anyway and see if it helps. Anyone who contacts you (by voice anyway) after three months of registration is committing a criminal offence.0

Your advice please!
I keep receiving text messages from a number stating that I can claim for an accident I had or the message tells me that I still haven't claimed. It gives me the option to Opt out by texting back STOP. I have done this now at least 5 times. Annoyingly I pay to receive the text and then when I reply.
If though I've opted out I still receive them. I call the mobile number and it goes straight to an O2 voicemail.
I'm not sure what else I can do to stop receiving them, its now bordering on harrassment (a bit extreme I know but thats how it feels).
Has anyone has the same experience and how did you stop it?
Thanks!!0 -
You can check the number here http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/
Phonepayplus are the regulator for text based marketing - but the sort of thing you are indicating are usually scams which Phonepayplus probably won't know about.
If you are on O2 - you can forward the message to 7726 for the O2 spam people to look at.

Also have a word with your network. Its not a good idea to respond to these idiots (even to send STOP).0
