Can anyone over the age of 12 honestly receive 1 of these messages and not set the alarm bells ringing?

everyone in receipt of these scams. obviously the scammers are persistant. but what you should all think about is whom have you passed your number onto(that was not a family or friend) within last 4 weeks of receipt of first scam text

what website, service, application form have you used your mobile as a contact detail for. this is usually a second place to make a complaint that this company have sold your number onto scam artists..

i recently started receiving junk mail through post addressed to a friend whom was living as a flatmate for a few weeks. the only people whom were not family /friends that knew he was here was the local council. i am right now in a dispute with them that they have sold my details onto a second company thats not the council as i have already signed up to royal mails preference lists and always tick do not send unsolicited mail on forms.

its a breach of data protection. so everyone think about any/all non personal company that you applied for/ used mobile as contact details for. list them down and hopefully we can all work out whom is selling our information out unlawfully

Have just had this from 07526 38 24 24: "Free Msg; Our records indicate you may be entitled to £3750 for the accident you had. To claim free reply CLAIM to this meesgae. To opt out text STOP. Thank you."

Rang my provider (T-mobile) to report it. They don't seem to have a spam service. The guy I spoke to was daft enough to ask if I'd rung the sender's number to find out who they were. I replied that that is his job!

Would be good to know if T-mob has a spam dept with a direct number.

Am wondering whether it's more likely they got my number from someone, or if someone's managed to broadcast to a range of numbers using an automated dialler.

All networks will have a small department who deal with SIM boxes and unauthorised GSM gateways, they wont be customer facing and will only be a few people and your average person in customer services is unlikely to know much about them unless they've had prior dealings or have taken an interest in that side of things.

Thanks for the word. I take it to mean that in future I'll be speaking with customer service again, rather than having a place to forward the message.

the recipient's number is randomly generated, not stolen or sold from a database somewhere

mobile networks do not sell phone numbers, especially not to fraudsters, and these messages are even received on numbers which aren't registered to anyone and have never been used to call anyone

NOTE: texting STOP will not work as all this does is confirm to the spammers/scammers that your number is active!
if you recive a message like this i wouldnt recommend texting stop to the number for this reason.

To be honest it will not matter if you text stop or not. Every network in the UK supports delivery receipts, so all the mobile phone savvy spammers have to do is use a phone or computer program that supports same.

    Help!
Can anyone confirm that this is the company sending out all the text messages because I'm keen to contact them.

they are a company called "Compensation Claims"

I'm a little annoyed because according to the message I received from 077526308508 their records indicate I may be entitled to £3250 for the accident I had.

I don't know why I should only be entitled to that amount when most people posting on here seem to have been given a figure of £3750. Especially since my accident left me with a severe case of amnesia. Not only do I have no recollection of the accident or subsequent hospitalisation, I have no visible signs of any sort of injury, so think I may have been unconscious for a long period.

Given the possible seriousness of the injury I think it worth contacting this company directly as I feel I may be entitled to considerably more.

Text messages are so limited (at least with my old phone they are) and I'm sure if I could leave a message on the company's website the would be keen to take on my case.
