Is this a scam ?

The networks don't know that a service is being abused until they're told by their customers. That's why its important to tell them as soon as you get one.
There are depts that manage these things, but with 1000's of then running they can't monitor them all.
Yeah, normally when these numbers are reported they're cut off within an hour or so. Normally when you call the number you get "This is the vodafone/O2/Three/Orange voicemail service for xxxxxxx..." then you know who to report it to.0 -

I got a text from this today. Worrying thing is I DID have an accident a week ago (was off to hospital by ambulance, luckily just cuts & bruises though) so HOW did they get my number? It's only police, hospital and the insurance company I'm claiming against that have my number.0

I have just received the same text from +447855188822
My missus has dialled the number and it went through to an Orange Voicemail. I now need to see how much she has been charged for that phonecall0 -
I received a text message yesterday and all that was in the text was the phone number. Received the same blurb today as everyone else about an accident.
The number that called me was: +4477487406040 -

Hi,
I came in here through Google and I know who these muppets are.
I receiced an SMS from them on the 21st of April. After searching online to find a company I can call to scream at I couldn't find anything except many others complaining so I filed a complaint with the ICO and replied "CLAIM" and today I had a phone call from them.
Managed to "confirm who they are so I don't fall for a scam" (big lol) and they are a company called "Compensation Claims" and their website is dot co dot uk. Please note that I've not typed the URL in full as not to provide a link back to them.
I've just forwarded all this info onto the ICO as well.
The woman was very quick to hang up when I mentioned "ICO" and "complaint"0 -
just had the same from +44 7541 3147820

HOW did they get my number?
The same way they get any number, they put the digits from 0 to 9 in a random order and get a computer to dial them.
They must get lucky some time. After all your phone number is made up of digits between 0 and 90 -
has anyone or would anyone ever do this? need a new phone and i like the iphone but not got enough ££ to buy one brand new. Im on a sim only contract and my blackberry is beyond repair. Vodafone will not let me cancel my sim only to go onto a new contract where i get a free phone so only option really is to buy another handset.
If i do go for it, anything specific i should check before i buy it?
Also can you unlock an iphone from one network to another i.e. o2 to Vodafone?0
