    Oh great.

These guys called me and I stumped up £199 after successfully claiming back my own bank charges a few years previously, so I knew that loopholes could be found in financial agreements. However, I am a lot busier now than I was back then, and I figured that a couple of hundred quid is a small price to pay to get rid of EGG, who have been money grabbing b*****s. I would not normally condone getting into debt and then wriggling out of it via aloophole, but when i took my Egg Card it was 14.6% or thereabouts, and each time i was unable to make a payment, they ramped up the interest until the were fleecing me on a £3600 balance for 29.9%.

Right, I thought - I'd like to wipe that smug look off their faces. Agreement prior to 2007? Check. PPI mis-sold? Negative. Still, I hope that they could do something. When the paperwork came through, I realised that on top of their £199 initial charge, successful claims are then subject to a further 25% commission, making a very tidy profit for them! At this point I considered pursuing myself again, but then thought that what the heck, 75% back for doing nothing is not a bad deal, and I'bve already paid them £199 so let them do something for the money!

Soon after I had gathered the considerable paperwork required and submitted it, I was sent a letter saying that I had no case and that the £199 would be refunded. Sadly I didn't keep this. A month or so later I called them and asked what was happening with this. They said the refund was on the way. This was a few months back now, and I suddenly realised that this had never been actioned by them. I have been trying to call them on and off for the last couple of weeks but never get through - i assume that they have realised that if they switch off incoming calls, then they don't have to deal with pesky letters from people asking for their money back...

Having read this thread I am slapping my forehead and wondering what to do next. I think the best action by the looks of things is to send a recorded delivery letter giving them 14 days to pay before taking civil action. I assume that this will make them sit up and pay the money back...?

Do you think i should also contact Welsh Trading Standards?

Yes definately contact Welsh Trading Standards! I managed to get my money back within 3 months (ridiculous that 3 months seems good in the case of CCS!!). I gave a statement and then the money was mysteriously refunded! Hope you get your money back too! and just to add, just in case you only have the customer service number, here's another number that 9 times out of 10 I would get through on and they always sound a little confused when they pick up. it's 02033017730!

  • I have just been taken for a ride by these people. It seemed like a good idea to try and reclaim my PPL etc A girl went through everything with me and then she said we need to check that who you are is correct we can do that by a card. I did ask why she said its just normal with company's so in the end I gave her my details. She said that they would send paper work out in 24 hours and no money at all would be taken until I had seen the paper work and rang them back. She said 72 hours. I felt really un-easy about the whole thing so checked my bank account straight away. Low and behold they had taken £50 straight out within seconds of them getting my details they are big fat lairs. I will be reporting them to the welsh office of fair trading. I am hoping I can get my money straight back as I phoned my bank 10 mins later fingers crossed. So what ever you do DO NOT EVER GIVE YOUR DETAILS OUT TO ANYONE NO MATTER HOW GOOD IT SEEMS.

  • i got a phone call from them lot in june. thinkin i could possibly get money back from PPI's,storecards etc, i paid the £199.99. i feel like a total mug now....lol i've phoned them back now on numerous occasions, and have always said the money's winging its way to me. But nothing yet.... you always get a nice welsh lassie on the end of the phone who puts you on hold goes for a fag, then comes back and says you'll be refunded in x amount of time, but doesn't happen. they say they have an accounts and a refunds department which i don't think exist.....
YOU SHOULD GET ON TO ANN ABOUT THIS ONE MARTIN, THIS IS DEFINITELY ONE FOR WATCHDOG
  • lve had the same problem, they took my money out while on the phone to me instead of the 3 days he quoted, l only found out when l phoned my bank the next day to cancel the payment, they told me it was fraud..l phoned ccs to cancel was told 28days for refund, and since end september have been given many excuses and lies. Today l rang them again to be spoken to rudely and agressively. I have spoken to my bank who will refund me 199.99 as it shows on my credit card statement, and their fraud department will recover the money.

l have also been advised to go on google type in TPS services, register all my phone numbers so that no other company can cold call again..or get my numbers

    any help would be great

I received an unsolicited phone call from them and they were very persistant. I told them that I had no PPI on any og my debts and they did a very good job convincing me that I did. They said it was probably hidden in other charges. They said they could get all payments back for me with interest. I was told they would send me some paperwork that I needed to fill in and return and then if I had a claim they would bill me for £199. I stupidly gave them my credit card details and then I heard nothing from them for weeks. Yesterday I received a letter from them informing me that they had charged my credit card £199. They asked me to send the completed forms with all my credit card details. They hadn't sent me any forms. When I tried to call them they kept me in phone queue for over 10 mins before I hung up. I called them 3 times. I then did some research online and saw numerous complaints about them and came to the conclusion that I've probably been had. I was very stupid to give out my card details over the phone. I always swore I'd never do that but I did and fell for it hook, line and sinker. I called my bank, whose credit card I'd got billed on and they are going to reimburse me for what they think is a very good case of fraud. They said that it was a good job I used my credit card rather than my debit card. I also reported them to consumer direct. I'm just worried that my info is out there now and am vulnerable to ID theft. I hope you get your money back. Please let me know how you get on.

I've just realised that i've been done aswell. Feel like a complete fool. Have cancelled my credit card, so hopefully i have done it in time before they try to process the payment. If they do, im sure that Natwest will refund me the money. I wouldn't be surprised if CCS don't even investigate claims, they just keep peoples £199, and throw the file in the bin.
