The only one talking nonsense is you.
I did not ask for your help, and you have obliged by not giving any.
NO screen,(TV or monitor), gives the correct size as advertised, i.e. an advertised 23" screen,is only 21.5" visible area when measured diagonally as all screens are.
It is about time these where produced as advertised, if it says it is a 23" screen and they measure diagonally,(as they do), then it should measure 23". Anyone else selling a product in this way would be prosecuted under Trades Descriptions.
Measure your 36" TV screen, it will not measure 36"
p.s. Try using the spellchecker,as you obviously are having trouble with the English language.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Anyone selling TV's or monitors have to state the visible screen size, on a crt monitor the 15" or 17" will be the tube size. A TFT monitor doesn't have a tube and the display size should be the same as the viewable area.0 -

Not sure about that as I was always under the impression that CRTs visible screen, (viewing), size was always less than the stated size, i.e. my 37" TV measures diagonally 35.5", my sisters 33" TV measures 31.5".
My 17" CRT monitor measures 15.5"
Looking in a few sheds yesterday and, as an example, a TFT LCD 23" monitor had on the detail ticket "visible screen 21.5", others that gave similar info for different size\screens, i.e.they all quoted visible screen as less than advertised size.
From here;
on CRT displays, often the diagonal area of the glass facing the individual is less than the claimed size of the display.
And here;
Screen (viewable) Size
Most people today tend to look at a 17-inch CRT or bigger monitor. When you purchase a 17-inch CRT monitor, you usually get 16.1 inches or a bit more of actual viewing area, depending on the brand and manufacturer of a specific CRTDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Unfortunately (fortunately?) this is an open forum so it's possible for any idiot to post and any person can reply.0 -

Most people today tend to look at a 17-inch CRT or bigger monitor. When you purchase a 17-inch CRT monitor, you usually get 16.1 inches or a bit more of actual viewing area, depending on the brand and manufacturer of a specific CRT. The difference between the "monitor size" and the "view area" is due to the large bulky frame of a CRT. If you purchase a 17" LCD monitor, you actually get a full 17" viewable area, or very close to a 17".
Anyone selling a crt screen always say the tube size and the viewable size.0 -
And just to finish, for a rough comparison of size between LCD and CRT screens, knock 2 inches off the CRT.
So that 17in CRT = 15in LCD.
Does the discrepancy between visible and actual size arise because part of a CRT screen is hidden behind the surround, well more than with an LCD.Move along, nothing to see.0 -

The size of my CRT monitor had nothing to do with my OP, which was to ask about the TFT monitor in my OP,(something which you still have not contributed to the thread), the visible viewable area of my monitor is 15", on the invoice it is a 17" monitor, which is like I said how CRTs are sold, they give the tube size not the viewable size, but is still irrelevant to my OP, it only became an issue when you stuck your,(unwanted), opinion in.The second link you posted said Anyone selling a crt screen always say the tube size and the viewable size.
No they are not, see Amazon for an example, all the sets on there are advertised as tube size, then picking one of those , for example, it is still advertised as 21" and only when you get to the Technical Details does it inform you "20-inch totally flat viewing screen"
That link said nothing of the sort
A CRT advertised as 17", is only around a 16" screen, in any other application that would be against the ASA.
See post #5 from AV Forums amongst others that back up what I am saying on there.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0
