Windows key + Pause/Break key, Hardware, Device Manager, Display Adaptors, Which one?

You need to be able to set the graphics to the native resolution of the screen.

    RADEON 7000 series
    Version 6.14.10.6368

How do I find out if I am "able to set the graphics to the native resolution of the screen."

As others have said, no DVI interface, thats why its cheap.

As I have said, I don't intend using it for anything other than surfing and the odd TV progs, so no need to pay for something that I won't be using, (I am assuming DVI means Digital Video Input? correct me if I am wrong), if it IS cheap and capable then it seems OK, assuming my graphics card will be usable.

You'll be wanting a new graphics card to exploit the higher resolution.

OK, taking everything into account, and my computer being 5½ years old, running slow, keep getting "not responding", my RAM being low etc, I think it is about time for me to upgrade the computer! Nothing has been done to it since purchase, execpt the usual cleaning and virus monitoring.

Any suggestions as to what specs I should be looking for?

Don't need the ability for games or videos,(except TV on the monitor).

A tad vague, laptop on desktop?

Anywho, have a look at https://www.dmxdimension.com it shows all of Dell's current offerings.
Even if you don't fancy a Dell it will give you an idea of what can be got for the price.

If I was looking for a general purpose desktop, nothing fancy I'd start looking here.

  • Using a VGA connection on a large monitor isn't recommended even if it's just general use. You should be looking to utilise DVI as the overall quality of the text will be far superior.

fwiw the original deal is comparable with others on the market. Ebuyer do some good monitors at similar prices.

22" gives you a much wider choice for the money though.

Size-wise I bought a 24" widescreen monitor last year - its same height as a 19" but just wider. a 22" is same height as 17" monitor I think?

Desktop, sorry I thought that would have been a given in that I never mentioned a laptop, but did state desktop ;)
